I was looking around for information on how the long distance space travel will work and didn't find anything other than a few suggestions on how tech might work...
I was personally hoping it would be some form of jump dirve/wormhole/rift type system where you can program jump co-ordinates, spool a drive and jump. The games that best captures this is the Evochron series, it allows for tactical combat jumps as well as gutsy exploration jumps and adds a real meta-game to long distance travel, whilst allowing for time to linear for all players - imagine a fleet of combat ships holding position while the scout fleet gets good tactical jump co-ordinates then relaying it back to fleet command and the sort of cinematic style combat that could generate!
If anyone could point me at any existing details that'd be great
