Suggestion Please do not use a EVE lock on weapon system

Judging by the latest gameplay footage, you could tag Elements on a ship to destroy, with possible impact forces being dispersed on nearby voxels. It would make for great tactical counter-play if a ship was built with an obvious point to taunt the enemy into focusing there.

Highly unlikely. That is, Novaquark has reconfirmed today on their official Twitter account that all combat will be exclusively based on tab targeting. No aiming skills required whatsoever, just tab lock your target and mash the mouse buttons.

That doesn't mean your turret batteries on the top of a ship can hit through your ship. And given the collision physics in place, there could be a correlation between how you move your ship in an engagement to glance blows instead of taking them full on. And also, they said that turrets will have cones of fire, so, don't expect many long distance lock-ons, but more of a Cone of Cold WoW kind of thing. It would still need coordination in mass battle.

That tweet says "target and lock system"; not tab-target.

I think we're going to want to have some manual targeting that locks.

That way we're able to get strategic instructions for the crew as directed by a captain.

Which doesn't mean tab-target will not be an option - but, it may not be the only option.

FPS style targeting won't be an option, though.
