Vector Propulsion?

Recommended Posts

I still haven't seen this in any similar games. It's so much more realistic when you shoot off one of a fighter's engines and it goes spiraling out of control.  :D

Is this something that's practical for DU?

Also since this is on the topic of propulsion, would it be possible to not have a hard speed limit, instead have a nonlinear system proportional to the amount of thrust you have, so it could be perceived like the drag you would experience from fine particles in space when you get to like half the speed of light in real life.

There was an assumption that the placement of your thrusters is going to be important in determining how your ship flies. I thought I remembered reading this on a forum post or on a devblog but I can't find the reference right now. If that's the case, it would be natural to assume that taking out an engine in combat is going to affect how a ship maneuvers or responds to a pilot's commands.

There's a thread over here where people are discussing the thrusters from the ship in the E3 trailer too - https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/557-the-trailer/

Just dug up a thread that is also currently going on about max speed limits as well, also discussing whats seen in the E3 trailer: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/575-ships-top-speed/

I would hope that the thrusters placement and positioning would affect your ship, we will see in time though.
