The problem is factories aren't running away in the background, no the calculations of how they are different now compared to when last activate is calculated when the construct is made active. This would mean every time a construct was made active, every other construct it was linked to, and they were linked to, would need to be woken up and computed. With enough effort you could make an amazing city with people doing specialized tasks just like JC envisioned in one of his videos. The problem is you could also have the issue you go to one factory, and all of a sudden every other factory in the city would need to be woken to do all the calculations.
