Anyone still playing Dual Universe? If not, what made you quit playing?

I still pop on daily to claim my welfare cheque, lay down a few voxels and pootle around in my ships.
But I don't stay on because Madis is deserted... I even flew to Freetown on Alioth expecting to see a bustling city and was shocked that I didn't even see another yellow marker on minimap in an hour of wandering around. That reminded me of the last few months of Blade Runner City in Second Life, before they deleted it: Beautiful desolation.

I went to Utopia and saw about half a dozen avatars... So I logged off.
Really not much fun playing alone.

But to be honest, if I knew there was NOT going to be a wipe before hard release I would play, but I've already been through (I think) four wipes in total and I can't be arsed to put any effort in if it will all be for nought in six months' time.

If you use the boarding mechanism to board a ship without authorization = exploit
If you use your L railgun to make a 10 by 10 hole in a ship and EVA in = not exploit

NQ has no way to tel lthe difference..

BS.

they have logs of where ppl were at logout and when combat started.

They can figure out if a spy was used to track a ship or if he entered the ship after pvp started.

In meanwhile, centre of mass seriously shifted to more "landmark-like" players -- ones much more tolerant to game deficiencies, as long they were able do build something, travel in 3d space and, spend time with their machines and boxes to hoard stuff. Its mostly solo/small group/interest club type of players

This feel very much spot on. It is tough to build PVP in a way that will be generally accepted by a wide verienty of PVP oriented players. It is much easier to cater to people who build, design and do this just to show off without much purpose of application of their creations in game outside of display it. And when you managed to pretty much remoev any content creators who do something different from your roster.. even more so.

NQ has always bent over backwards to keep the Lanmark style players happy, they pretty much cancelled the new biomes and new planet tech because they did not wantt o upset them as it woud mean they needed to wipe. NQ postponed the org rework because of the complaints and crying from that side because it woudl mean the massive space port would need a massive rework, if it even would be possible still.

If you call BS, you better have facts to back it up, Please share what you have that tells you this is certainly the case. I'd say at best you are assuming this is so.

Im saying they have a digital database. If they use it or not, is their problem. But they certainly can use it and gather the data i pointed out.

So, Yes, they do have a way to know the difference.

In any normal situation yes, I'd agree that this data should be available. But we have historical data whcih at least suggests NQ does not have very specific data logging which prevents them from pinpointing events and reversing them. It's why (it woudl appear) they are reluctant to act and if they do , do so in a very broadstoke manner. This is a pattern with them.

Calling someone's position BS because of what you expect to be the case in general seems quite risky where NQ is concerned ;)

Not playing, just waiting for the gravestone to pop up so I can put "Justice for scoopy served" on top of it for lulz.

Why I dumped it ?

Because the ones that build it have no idea what they are doing. Even if they pull their heads out of sand now, it is probably too late.

P.S:

Lol at that DekkarTV dude trying to say game is not dead. Even the discord chat is dead with just 3-4 people occasionally chatting.
Probably butthurt if he tries to get a streamer career but the title he chose has like 10 viewers at peak.

  1. Lack of content
  2. From all appearances, upcoming content promised to suck. (And that's been born out as far as I can tell)

I did install the updated game. Haven't bothered to log in yet. I might get there soonish.

This was good XKentX.  Made me laugh :)  I'm not a streamer, but thanks, the insult was great.  All I did was just provided facts from the spybot at markets since the release of G-force now. ;)

But I will concede.

July 29th Starbase released.

DU Died.

NQ pushed Apollo early to recover.  Again didn't listen to feedback.  Massive server issues.  Worst experience since Beta launch.

(if you didn't leave for Starbase, it was New World)

No offense meant. It just seems to me you tried saying it is not dead.

I left for SB.

I couldn't even finish the tutorial on that one moon because of a bggy tile. My laptop also can't handle the game because the starter zone is making my game slow, so I just quit.

Dont forget to cancel your subscription via xsollo. After all you should quit paying when U quit playing, unless Ur a true believer

Checking some people who recently quit playing they went to that 'other game' as they are fed up of exploiter's getting away with things.  Between losing their ship and riding on their dead core to stop it being captured, element phasing to hide elements (stacking) to rumoured non-voxel ships with shields taking no damage the list grows.

Some left because of Schematics but to be honest it is no big deal that one, it is just gated.  Another few just posted today that there is 'no goal'.  I dont think that goal will change anytime soon until territories are a thing (capture).  However the 'other game' has a solid PVP but lacking elsewhere so it is all in context.

Bug's for me are the priority and squishing expliots to make it more even.

Starbase ended up banning their item duper’s and fixing it in a couple of days.  Wasn’t even around long enough for it to be a pervasive mindset of “the favored” got so far ahead with dev blessed dupes.

the devs reactions here of “we aren’t worried about a few hundred/thousand  extra of something” is like the most absurd MMOs dev response I’ve ever seen.  It’s absurd that an item dupe stays around long enough for a rollback to be impossible, and for the mainstream community to know about it (your social hardcore/competitive type will always find out, but normal players finding out is silly).  (Honestly full server rollbacks are rarely needed in other games).

I only watch the forums to see what the game will turn into.

  • Landmark in space
  • Platform for mini-games which are worse than actual games (racing, casino, etc.)
  • Platform for socializing
  • EVE clone
  • dead

And the interesting thing is: I really have no idea what the actual goal is from the NQ side.

Looks like NQ is up to smth as Naerais posts again frequently.....

This tells me we're in the "damage control and communicate at least a little bit with players so they don't abandon us" phase of NQs cycle of life

Business as usual

I quit some time ago, but I'm always open to giving it another chance later.
My reasons are first and foremost:

  • Performance: even with a mid-range gamer PC, I sometimes only have 20-30 FPS, in the long run it was stressful for the eyes.
  • Destruction: In contrast to a certain other game, a ship can crash and break down in the safe zone at any time, that was also the point where I gave up when my ship, which I had farmed for a week, crashed after a test flight. Bringing the ship back somehow and repairing it took a lot of time, and I lost the fun of the game.

And still not a beep about further investment for the company developing DU.. And not a single word from the CEO since he took the job, all he does is post about Covid on Twitter, seems to not have any interest in representing NQ or DU and can't be bothered to even just come say "hi" ..

The writing is on the wall.. in big fat capital letters ..

If you were the CEO, would you want your name tied to an MMO that died during lockdowns.
