XL cores when?

I know that NQ were struggling to make dynamic L cores work probably, so it might take a while before XL dynamic constructs get implemented, but what about XL space and dynamic cores? I mean, every market has one and seems to work fine, so what's the problem with giving players access to them as well? even if its super unstable, NQ could at least put it on the PTS so we can try it out and test it. getting reaaaal sick of every large construct needing like 30 L cores to work, it really clutters your radar.

Not only that but it really uses up your org core limits.

TBH I would be happy with different shaped build cubes selectable on deployment:

1/4 height but twice as wide and long.
“Pizza box” suitable for landing pads and  low, sprawling structures.

1/2 height and double length.
“shoebox”. Suitable for most large spacecraft or general buildings.

1/2 height and width but 4x as long.
“tube”. Suitable for roads, bridges, gantries and mega structure spines.

Also, for the love of all things holy, please give us the ability to deploy cores in build mode.

and add an “enforce planetary level” toggle box while you’re at it, I’m fed up of all our buildings being slanted because the initial structure is 3km away and the planet is curved.

All what Graxxor says, frankly nothing to add, well maybe that infrastructural build zones would be very usefull, even without cores but since the system needs them, maybe a new corte type with only infrastructural elements for parks, bridges, roads, parking zones, whatever

The problem is that even if xl cores come, what was built before is actually on the verge of not being transferred. Then transfer complex and large structures to XL cores instead of 8 L cores .. this is a huge repetitive work and a mockery. That will actually put the old builders in an unequal position with those who will just come :) And force the old people to rebuild or lose the number of limited cores. Sadness. World pain

Ideally, people jusyt starting won't be able to produce XL cores too easily / build XL structure too quick.

That said, it would be nice for NQ to help the transition from L cores to XL cores, maybe with a special type of BP.

well, all the reasons thought about why xl cores are a pain will delay them even longer.

There is a simple reason people want them, that is because they were already mentioned in the kickstarter program, Build a space station the size of a moon, build large cities, etc etc.

We just need those cores to start building those mega structures we will need to finally get to space permanently and to prepare for travel among the stars.

most ships here are over 600 meters, so 600 is the bare minimum for "larger cores" and untill we can really merge larger cores together into a single ship we will need even larger cores to actually build these mega projects.  And simply, any reason why we dont need them or any limitation to not be able to is actually the end of the DU idea, this sandbox promiss of being able to build what we want and to build civilization comes and goes with the simples of things, what is the size of cores. And if this universe (ore) or this servertech cannot handle ships over 600 meters then it can never reach the potential it was once given. we dont need 150 engine types, 2000000 voxel types, we need the tech and stuff to actually build the future and civilization.

I get your point and it was kind of promised. But I can't see the priority. DU seems still to be struggling, with player count in the lower thousands and many features missing or not working as intended.

What would be the use of a moonsized station when there only a few thousand players, really active probably even less. Also likely not all of them living in this one spot.

Still, if possible they should introduce. Yet I see many things that I think should be fixed/introduced first. That especially in the hope of attracting new players and also of making the game less static.

yep, so the reason we dont get them probably still is performance, best to just fix that. and indeed @DrDerpthere are things needed sooner, but if we only get updates to systems or opening quests then they can add the cores too.
