So, are we done with the backend patches now?

I'm still waiting for word on the linked container nerf that JC talked about. Reducing it to 250m with max skills. I wouldn't expect anything more than missions, maybe asteroids and auto-miners this year. I guess the asteroids can be fun depending on implementation.

now that 0.25 is out, will we start to see some actual gameplay updates?

NQ has at least a year's worth of technical debt to get fixed. the game is riddled with small and bigger issues that must be getting in the way of progress. simple things like a lack of consistent behaviour in the UI start to manifest more and more. The back end has always been the game's Achilles heel and that just got magnified greatly by the rushed move to a public "beta" which was never supposed to happen.

Adding more gameplay now would only create more problems, the game would be much better served by NQ taking time to stabilize, bugfix and resolve as much of the technical debt they can first.

JC really did throw a spanner in the works, huh.

JC has certainly not given NQ the opportunity to build a solid base by a consistent overpromise or what was realistically possible to achieve for years.

A big problem with NQ is also that they spend a lot of time debating and excusing not doing something. If they spent that time actually doing what the community asks they do, there would actually not be an issue to debate. And this is a consistent long running issue with them. CMs really can't use the "this is complex technology and we're just a small indie studio" excuse. Community managers should reasonably be expected to be hired and available to support he community. Currently they are spending more time coming up with excuses to not do that. The only CM who so far seemed to get that, left for better opportunities.

Why you using CMs in plural?

Only Naerais visiting us now and even she become progressivly more mean and punishing.

Nyz always being somewhat of ghost, "busy with super-important background work" (no one can actualy formulate). Pann doing something with 4,5 CCs left, looks like and can't be bothered to talk with plebs too. French CM disssapeared somewhere in mists of time.

So no reason for plural at all.

Problem as I see it is that they are not doing either. If you look back over the years comparing release notes with time tables, the progress is abysmal.

For example take a look at the more resent 0.23 -> 0.25 progression, consider how many people work at NQ and then look at the features that has been released/improved in what is now closing in on half a years time. A team the size of NQ should be able to work on back-end, fixing bugs and adding features at the same time.

If you look back a year, the only real advancement/progress we have seen was server meshing.

It was a major one which really enabled the game to progress from there for sure, but that progress has yet to materialise
