Sorry, but this is just the next iteration of "we heard you"

Sure, but it within "the best to be expected" taking into account the situation.

And beats total silence allot.

We have also seen 2 comunications days appart.

I think we have no reason to be jumping in joy. But we also have little to be critical about.

Lets give this new managment some time to prove its not just words.

My posts, whether you agree with them or not, were actual thoughts about the game.  Not posts consisting entirely of "Waaaaaaaahhh".

Though I find it interesting that you, a brand new account jump to the defense of another brand new account and between the two of you have not talked about the game at all, and instead directly target people critical of it. I originally made the Dev comment somewhat in jest, but ...

To be honest I read the forums all the time.  I don't engage because of the really negative atmosphere here.  I saw your rebuttal about the fact that you had more posts than someone and somehow that made your opinions more important?  That's the problem with DU - a bunch of squeaky wheels are getting the grease.  Just because people don't post here, doesn't mean they agree with you or have any less opinion than you.

That's what NQ needs to understand - if you try to chase 10 rabbits, you won't catch any.  They should pick three things and put 100% focus on those.  The fact that someone in the game can make a casino or a space invaders game, tells me they might need to change focus.  People want PVP.  People want Performance.  People want mining changes.  Pick those and go.  Or just pick PVP and put 100% into that!  If people leave because they can't draw a pp using SVG, good luck to them in the next gaming endeavor.  There's my opinion.  I know - maybe not as important as yours but hey, what can I do?

I also find it interesting that you can't answer my question - why are you here?  Why not go play something else?

Of course your opinion is as important as mine... as long as it's an actual opinion and not simply personal insults, which you were blindly jumping to defend two posts consisting entirely of personal attacks and nothing about the actual game. Your latest post is an example of an opinion on the game and equally valid to any of mine.   Not that I completely agree with it.

Focus is good.  Focusing on PVP would be a disaster.  They should embrace their strengths.  Considering that the creative aspect is one of the few things this game does decently and uniquely in the market, going all in on PVP would make no sense.  They have not shown an aptitude for it and not offered anything others in the market haven't already done far better.

As to why I am here, it's simply because I choose to be.

The proof will be in your next release, given the feedback on  lighting , materials(where you continually change existing materials and make  players work rubbish) , industry recipes fiasco . What pisses me off the most is the arrogance to treat players the way you do . I believe your development and  support process is "Wilful Negligence" . This isn't directed at your hardworking devs or support staff, this is directed at your management who make the policies and design decisions. You don't deserve to have jobs. You know who you are !!!!

We need gameplay loops and sooner the better.  Tangible things to do.  Asteroids for exploration and pvp.  Territorial warfare , energy production and the automated mining thingies JC talked about.  Pirate NPCs that give bounties or resources or both. In the interim till NQ can deliver on those things more manually placed nuggets for people to explore for or fight over could be a good stopgap.  Basically we all play in this universe NQ have made and it has the basic walls and things you need but after a short period of time you quickly run out of things to do.

IMHO we need destruction.  We need destruction for entertainment. We need destruction for accomplishment.  We need destruction so there is a new reason to gather resources.  We need destruction so there is a reason to produce new things.  We need destruction so there is a reason to buy and sell new things.  We need destruction so there is a reason to design new things.  We need destruction to create and fuel rivalries.  Destruction fosters life as it gives people so many new purposes.

When the game was just an idea, the idea was to have endless procedurally generated solar systems...wasn't it? That would provide 'exploration'....Am I imagining this? Or did they say that?

With due respect.  if I was treated as badly by my wife as you seem to be by this game in your comments, I'd get a divorce.  Seems like a lot of effort for something that makes you so angry.  So many choices out there.  Games, not women.

Yes, but JC's vision is more to the Eve side. They are still committed to deliver JCs vision of the game. No indication of any PvE. It would easily make me return to the game. That alone.

THINGS CHANGE! This is a fact of reality. Let's hope sooner than later. Like I said earlier, these people need to go play 'Empyrion: Galactic Survival' for a weekend.

4) We need some sort of replenishment of Territory Ore.
Due to the collapse of the economy after the .23 patch, a lot of the games ore was sold to the Market Bots in order to afford the Schematics.
Perhaps every 2-3 months, or every major patch, you could replenish 10% of all unowned tiles on a planet.
This would incentivize people to not take huge amounts of Territories as then those definitely wouldn't replenish.
It would also work to make people go scouting for those tiles that have been replenished.
Also if you simply reset those tiles completely then people wouldn't have tunnels all over the planet to have to contend with.
This would also work with my previous point for Orgs to have something to do with higher tier Ores in order to not have the market flooded with Warp Drives, but also make Warp Beacons something that everyone would want to try to get their hands on.
This would also give people a reason to have monthly trips to different planets to see whats going on there and to try to get their hands on a little of those juicy T4 and T5 Ores

.

This part I disagree with.

PvP players want planet warefare, but how are they going to get this if there is no point in setting up a base in a non-safe area. Just fly in, mine and leave.

on the other hand, if %10 of the ore on an occupied hex respawned every week during the one hour down time, now we have a real reason to fight over hex’s, that’s where the ore now is!

That Dev blog makes me feel like they just realized they don't have the man power to make an MMO of this complexity or the money to hire more people or the good will from a community willing to give them more money. NQ found out the hard way they can not add new content, support a live service, AND fix the ever increasing amount of bugs and exploits fast enough.

On top of that, the whole vision of what the game was suppose to be was threatened because they didn't figure out a way to prevent players from becoming self sufficient BEFORE promising no wipes so they had to quickly find a way to stop players from playing the game the way NQ didn't want them too....and so .23 happened. And now the life blood of the game the players are gone/in hibernation

Can we get the talents that are not working greyed out or something? I reported a few talents that are not being applied when placed and my ticket was closed.

Well here are some of my thoughts to improve the game more...Of course they require a lot of time and effort to resolve but that whats the post about so lets get started .

1) Pending operation while digging to mine sucks , in fact it cancels your talent that digs fast and needs fix . Also incorrect cell version something when you dig fast occurs , this is something that has to do with the loading of the world i think.

2) Also some internal server error while mining steals you some of your time needs fixing.

3) 5% more ore extraction talent should work - i cant test it but as far as i heard from other players too it doesnt. Miners are miners !

4) Dedicated server(s) for markets that eat supercomputer power computers all over the world . Like eve online has a server only for jita for example . This will spread the load but needs funds and effort ok i understand . Is it the future ?

5) Introduce the god damn mission systems - Hauling - PVE npc killing - Also wreck salvaging and more loot and stuff

6) Industry balance - No Tycoons -No inflation - Shematics well was that a good idea? New whole post needed and one exists ! Also a post about A LOT of industry bugs is present in forums ! You can read it and try to fix them.

7) More t4 t5 ore needed in the game .Reseed the beloved Lacobus and other planets! If someone spends 2 months scanning should find at least one meganode of that T4 +T5 (not 10 ok !!!) Propably reseed all tiers in the future for example coal is needed to make a lot of things fuel, honeycomb, glass panels, steel, wood, concrete, it will evaporate soon but not sure  about that just suggesting

8 Asteroids incoming !!! Mining gear for mining ships in the same rate of hand mining propably? Or it will be ground mining on asteroids as it is on planets and moons again ?

9) New star systems and new planets and moons ! Dont sell THAT to us pls like some failed marketing corps do.

10) PVP 1 ! When this starts officially (when you remove safe zones) we all want to know when to get the hell out of there and join an org hope in a battleship and start shooting stuff.  AvA good idea ! Territory warfare nice ! Will Alioth be safe  ? Are you sure ? Cause i dont want to tranfer 500.000.000 killotons cargo to sanctuary propably !!! Information needed ...for everything about it basically . KEEP and the existing safe zone alioth madis etc circle as some players may want to build only or have safe industry.

PVP 2 ! Any thoughts about a killboard site so we know whats happening to the universe when more battles happen?

Kills ! Ship losses ! loot drop ! Value... or something like that?

11) No wipe ! No Wipe ! No Wipe !as we say No nukes for example ! This will decrease player numbers propably ...

12) Starting ships was a steal ! 150 t for 10 million are you joking ?and i made one ship with 3kt with less than half money ! Maybe it is luxury ships or the design was great but hey i got the mule and fixed my next ship faster i admit but 19t is crap lol

13) More decorative elements would be welcome for building ! Would boost industry a bit ! Also bring music to tiles ! Ambitious? Costly ? dunno ...Be AND second life game virtual world some kind of thing ...You started it , finalized it.

14) Honeycomb texture change was a fiasco ! I personally liked the glossy iron i had before but that is just me ! Also white should look more white ! Maybe it is something that has to do with the lighting .

15) Support and feedback from and to NQ are important ! This is what most of all players are looking for to a gaming company!

Well that is basically some of the features I believe that require attention .

I hope that they represent most of players thoughts as it is what i saw it is been discussed on forums mostly.

Thanks for your time

Right now there are plenty of orgs (even individuals probably) who have scanned thousands of tiles and TCUd hundreds of good ones all over the place for later use.  You could probably have fun with territory warfare if you just go around scanning the tiles with just a TCU on them then contest the best ones.

Ore respawning is probably a bad idea because there are so many hexes that a few 10,000s of players could mine heavily without ever needing to contest anything.  Just own a few good tiles and constantly re-mine the respawns.  Nobody needs to take them from you because you don't need to own very many, meaning that there are a lot of spare ones around to take.  Doesn't sound like an exciting game does it?

Fair enough. The problem I have is that this blogpost is what was predicted to come, pretty much worded the way expected and shows no signs at all of changed intent or drive. It feels like some of the "powers that be" inside of NQ just chug along, oblivious to anything going on in or outside the company.

I do agree that the new NQ leadership deserves some time to get things in order but in that regard, this "same o-same o" is really not helping either.

I have been playing DU for hundreds and hundreds of hours.

Why?

Mostly because of the people I played it with.

DU itself does not give me a big enough reason to play it.

I have one suggestion to the Developers ... before they try to implement more player based content that uses the exact same boring mechanics that already make the game an insane grind without actual reward. Don‘t implement more of that.

There is currently one very simple yet really successful game ... Valheim ... it does not have the insane scale of DU. It does not have great graphics. It does not have any kind of in game economy.

But there is one thing it has ... progression in PvE and a feeling of accomplishment.

Yes, PvE. And an environment that gets more challenging the further you venture away from your starting point (to put it in simple terms).

DU is boring, because it is not challenging. There is nothing dangerous out there except Borg Cube PvP gankers and your own stupidity when flying.

Everything else is grinding. Get more ressources, sell more stuff on the market, to be able to buy more stuff that helps you to grind even more.

Valheim has different biomes.

DU has different planets and moons.

Why is the DU universe dead? Introduce PvE combat, both in space as well as ON planets, against hostile fauna and NPC pirates, maurauders, NPC industry conglomerates, etc.

Have Sanctuary as a sanctuary. Dead moon, no PvE or PvP.

Make Alioth an easy PvE area near the districts. Make it more difficult in the further away areas.

Make planets more dangerous PvE areas the further they are away from Alioth. Also the space ... you venture away from Alioth ... you will be attacked by NPCs eventually.

Go even further away from Alioth and you can even be attacked by players (in addition to the even stronger NPCs).

Give us a feeling of accomplishment ... because building the 50th spaceship and the 100th base will get old very fast.

Understandable and sounds good. Hope part 2 will be a bit more about the planned additions tho.

And I really hope the communication will be kept at a better level as this makes up for a lot if something doesn't go as planned. I hope we can get more information on the stuff planned a month or 2 ahead and I doubt anyone even would have a problem if it doesn't work out or gets postponed as long there is good communication. Most have been playing mmos for years and know not everything goes as planned but getting more involved in the journey ahead would just feel better.

So 0.25 is around the corner because we get all these updates?

This is expected in line with the general MO of how NQ "communicates", yes. What is concerning to me is that the dev blogs now are mostly about spinning  opinions and trying to pacify the community and less about actual changes, improvements and features.

To be honest, if NQ would announce pushing out release until next year at least, three months of radio silence and development freeze as they restructure, regroup and then come out with a new plan they intend to stick with/to, I'd be absolutely fine with that and that would be the first _actually_ structural communication we would have seen in a long time.

"We know we messed things up, we realize we need to fix it. We can't do that while we keep addressing these things in public so we ask you to give us this time to make things right. We'll come out guns blazing and refreshed to show you how we will improve things going forward" .. now that would be a message I could accept, understand and get behind. Would I be skeptical? Absolutely, but I would also see the reason in that and accept it.

Let's get back to discussing the blog please, less personal attacks please.

It would be nice to actually see a blog with real information that provides substance, not the current parroting of what has been said but in different word play for the past many months. The current blog doesn't give any specifics, no details of any kind regarding emergent gameplay or how exactly NQ plans to fix the already completely broken economy.

NQ still appears to be on the same collision course after receiving countless well thought out detailed feedback and examples of why certain changes or lack of specific changes will not work.

All I have read is "we know we have made some major mistakes" but then give no information as to what you are willing to do to fix them. A full blown server wipe / reset of the economy is required, but ONLY after you have actually got all the other systems in place into the game and are locked in on "feature complete" functionality.

To date, NQ has made several major game changes that destabilized the entire economy and then decided it wasn't worth the effort to roll things back or really fix the problems. You still have a bot system that totally screws with the market and certain players / organization exploit the heck out of it with every change NQ makes, and nothing actually happens to correct these problems. All I have heard is "it only affected a small number of accounts, so no big deal, we aren't worried about it" type pf mindset that your team seems to be proud to convey on a consistent basis.

Overall, the current state of the game doesn't feel like NQ knows what they are doing. You seemed more focused on making trees and rocks look nicer but feel the massive latency / lag issues around most of the economic centers is acceptable. You would rather allow folks who have long left the game many months ago to keep their ships and cargo containers in-game along with all the clutter instead of doing a full wipe / clean of each area.

Your team seems to be super sensitive to certain types of feedback from a minority of players that seem to sway your decision making.

Please get the right kind of folks to run NQ who are not afraid of making the tough decisions.

IE: Make a decision to remove all constructs sitting at or near every single economic center / trade post if those constructs have been sitting there idle for 30 days or longer. Make an announcement, give folks a week or 2 to decide if they want to log in to move their constructs, or if they just don't care of having them lost or packed up.

Best of luck and wishes on this very ambitious project, it wouldn't hurt to also be more transparent on who in NQ is doing what kind of job / roll, as we know JC is no longer in control of the company, but we have no information as to what, (if any) his new responsibilities are.

What Blog?  frankly i cannot even find it Or can find any reference to it. But if the question is what should be done to make sure Any game has a future, stop gold sellers and the redicules thing that people reporting them here get warnings for going to get banned. All the schematics that were bought at 1% are on goldselling pages and still these persons are free to mess up DU even further.

Showing No care in the equality of players and an active policy on these goldsellers makes DU into bot whalhalla.

So please an update on your policy on gold sellers as it will kill the game balance Bigtime and will scam players and open DU to bots and hackers that want your accounts

Beta isn't always fun. There's rework when things change, lost progress, filling out bug reports... It would be nice if the strategy included keeping the game fun.

LOL. Guess I shoulda waited till 'Part 3' went up.
