Maybe another game....

Given that this game is dying (or dead already), I at least hope that the "building in open-space" aspect of the game is repeated somewhere else. Maybe another company can buy the rights to this game and improve on it?

Bonus question: Should I pledge to Star Citizen? I tried a little but through the "free fly" events and it was a decent experience, even though I couldn't play very long. I've watched some Star Citizen videos and the players seem to be having fun.

P.S. As to why I asked about Star Citizen on the Dual Universe game forum? I figured since there is little moderation now I would just ask my question in the most active forum. I wanted to post this in a place I was familiar with and where I know they won't be any bias from Star Citizen fans.

According to the wiki list, no mmo based on this engine has been released yet. All of them were either cancelled or stopped being worked on. I guess you will have a hard time finding qualified and affordable developers.

To your bonus question: Why? You want to jump from one crowdfunded game to the next, even though you have burnt your fingers on DU ? Even though I may be stepping on the toes of one or two SC fanboys and fangirls, the game has been in development for 8 years now, sometimes more, sometimes less progress.  It doesn't really offer you "building in open-space" too.

I would look at some alternatives like Starbase. Otherwise, I don't know what's currently hot except for the early access games on steam.

Yeah, I'm aware of Starbase and have applied for Alpha access to that game. The problem is they haven't accepted me yet.

I guess I should exercise patience....

Honestly for any crowd funded/beta MMO that you want to join you need to ask yourself...did you get your moneys worth out of this game.  Maybe you spent 100's of dollars, maybe less, but did you get your moneys worth before we got to this point.  I know I did for what it's worth (those of you who know me will get the joke), maybe you did too and are willing to risk it again.

There are a lot of beta games that I still play (most have not been released), I have gotten my money's worth out of almost all of them, or I am striving to get that money out of it every update.

I will personally NEVER give those people another red cent. I gave them $40 a few years ago for Star Citizen, and regretted it ever since. Worst money ever spent. NOPE! I'll stick with Dual Miner.....much better game.

With as chaotic as this game is the competitors out there have more features but this game seems to have the best stability to player count compared.

also....STARBASE....is just another Space Engineers/Empyrion clone, no VOXEL BUILDING, so nope....I'll go play Empyrion if I want that experience. As it stands, THIS IS THE ONLY DANCE IN TOWN.....this is the only voxel game out there (perhaps we should be encouraging game companies to make more voxel games, because....you know....Minecraft was a pretty popular game....

Im pretty sure thats why they have not been sweating. But at the same time... The tech debt is insane.

as a consultant....this is where I would suggest to start moving in a PVE direction, and a 'Building' direction.....PVP just isn't working. I get its free, but it doesn't work.

and that's ok.....Minecraft was the most popular game ever made for a reason....it gives people an unlimited creativity playground....I'm surprised EA isn't working on a voxel game.

FOCUS on building tools, avatar cosmetics, in game proximity voice chat.....

How about an in-game working chat integrated with the existing community page. Would be nice for once to send someone an offline message or even message an org for information.

You're probably entitled to your refund if it's taken within two weeks of an online purchase in the EU or if you've played less than, say, a dozen hours.

Have you played longer than a dozen hours or been a subscriber for more than two weeks?
If so, then sure, you'd like your refund. But you're probably not entitled to one.

Reminds me of all the people clamouring for refunds from Kickstarters when the device they backed doesn't launch being surprised that they couldn't get their money back.
Never bet what you can't afford/don't want to lose on a prerelease product. Full Stop.

If the Kickstarter goals are no longer met and are not what they were promised to be, you can bet your ass that NQ will get a legal complaint.

Best example here: https://www.mmorpg.com/news/chronicles-of-elyria-lawsuit-files-complaint-2000120863

And then portraying NQ as a scammer is already enough. :)

If you feel that way.  Good luck proving that in court.  I am no lawyer but I can already tell you that claim by itself carries about as much weight in court as trying to sue NASA for allegedly faking the moon landings.

And that reason are (were actually) mods, sure it was cool when it came out but I wouldn't have poured thousand of hours into it if it wasn't for the brilliant work of modders.

There are specialists who are happy to take care of this. Law firms have already specialised in KS cases.

This is not a matter of feeling, but of facts. If I see that AvA is a main goal of KS and this is not adhered to, then there are problems. And that is the reason why NQ gives a bad image to crowdfunding platforms. Games like Pantheon, Ashes of Creation and the other mmorpg would have surely benefited more from it. And now you have to look at rubbish like this.

Star Citizen is great, but there's no building and never will be. Except for very limited - stick some modules together - base building (in the far future). There's really no crafting, although there's ore refining just to increase the value before you sell it. The mining is more interesting, i.e, harder to learn and to do, than in DU. It has better combat, ship to ship and AvA, both PVE and PVP, but lag and desync sometimes interfere. There's a well developed mission system. But the game definitely isn't finished.

If that's satisfying for you, go for it.

Starbase looks horrible to me. When DU collapses, I'll probably go back to SC for MMO and KSP for ship building - I have a pretty capable space plane in KSP that I've been having fun with.

You have no facts.  Yes NQ said they will have an end goal of AvA.  Now are we anywhere near that end goal?  No.  Have they violated any of the terms set forth in the kickstarter or on their sales page? No.

There is a difference between speculation, assumptions and facts.  Right now you have an abundance of the first two and none of the last.

AvA was postponed without a date after release. That's a fact. Don't explain to me what facts are.

It's only a matter of time what we see this year.
