The current issues and problems are not in focus.. here's where their mindset is at..

Not unexpected really and perfectly aligned with NQ's MO in handling communication as it has been pretty much since pre alpha started.

  1. Release Patch
  2. Spend a week or two communicating and fixing the most urgent issues
  3. Go silent
  4. Stay sIlent
  5. Ignore the community
  6. Do it some more
  7. Make a post you heard the community, will do better on communicating and will soon have news
  8. Start ramping for next patch by posting devblogs/do streams a few weeks prior to patch date
  9. Rinse.. repeat

So they've adopted the SC model then.  Joy.

Ah, you mean the SC model where they have multiple weekly community shows paid for by community subscriptions, a regular "Ask the Devs" spot where questions are pitched by the players at the devs to get (usually) straight answers.. Oh and then they bombard the backers with weekly newsletters regarding the different aspects of the game, the week's progress, where they are falling behind the roadmap and some behind the scenes' tidbits...

Sorry, I just assumed SC meant Star Citizen. In which case no, completely NOT the SC model, unfortunately.

@DystopianSnowman

CIG does a _much_ better job at communication and frankly, while there is a lot of noise round the development of SC, most of what they do in the timeframe it happens makes sense if you understand the process they are in. CIG has a pretty solid quarterly patch schedule, provides weekly updates on their progress and on how the existing roadmap changes. They have several shows where lead devs and managers discuss features that are coming and how they affect the game. There are frequent Q&A sessions where CIG does not cherry pick the questions they feel comfortable answering but they pick the ones that get the most upvotes.

NQ is not even close to the level CIG is at with regards to being open, transparent and clear about where they are and what they need to do to get where they intend to go. SC is only a year ahead in development compared to DU and is much, much further ahead in their development. And that is not just because they have more staff as the actual coder group within CIG is actually not that big. During kickstarter, NQ made a big deal about how _they_ were going to be different and fully open and transparent on/during the development process.. Well, that ended when pre-alpha went live to be honest and has not been met since.

CIG has near 3 million registered accounts for SC, I doubt DU accounts have gone 6 digits yet. NQ does not even share any information on consecutive player counts and the number of DU accounts anymore.

Mind you, CIG/SC/S42 has their share of "issues" but none of the level NQ is causing for themselves.
