Industry Robots

I'm a relatively new player, mostly focusing on Industry.   I'm constantly fighting with containers and input / output to machines.  Seems like I always need more.

 

I was thinking how cool it would be to have a LUA programmable robot to do menial tasks for me.  Example would be to move 10kt of steel from one container to another.  The possibilities with LUA are endless as long as the robot could identify (by code) the item.  

 

Perhaps even robots to repair modules down the road as long as the ship was parked at your base.  You could really have a lot of fun with them, and use them like they're used in real life.

I like the idea of programmable robots. Have you looked into using transfer units to move goods between containers? They may help you keep things sorted until something more automated comes along.

If you want a great example, look at the OpenComputers mod for, yes you guessed it, MineCraft. You can do just that. They really work like that as well.

I don't know what transfer units are.  I'll look into them tonight when I log on.  I think the eyes from Naunet must mean we're missing something.  ?
