Some ideas...

Dear NQ ?

 

First of all, I want to apologize for my English, it is rusty ?

I want to thank you for creating such an amazing world for us. I have really enjoyed playing it for last few weeks. Game has a huge potential, but I have a lot of concerns and few suggestions you that might want to hear (or not?).

First of all, game is WAAAY too easy! If you are not a casual player and play more than 1h per day, you will get end game items in 2-3 weeks, or more likely less.

 

 Few of my general ideas on how to change a gameplay to bring, and keep, new players :)

 

1.       New planets should not be on the map. Easy as that – one part of gameplay should be an exploration. Imagine if there was a device that scan a universe or something like that. First you have to find a wormhole, then when you go through, you have to fly around and search for planets. This will give some players and corporations a good reason to play – they will need to create outposts, produce fuel and hire explorers! How cool would it be? Where is fun if you get a location of portal and other planets – you fly there and dig like you did for last few months - blah. This would change a whole game play A LOT.

2.       Same (as hidden planets) for asteroids. It would be great if there were dozens of them flying around the galactic.

3.       Everything should need a power to operate. You can`t let people have 100s of elements in theirs factories for no cost, that does not make sense. There should be few ways to make Energy – the cheapest one – for example solar panels. They work during a day only. If you want your factory to work in the night you need batteries etc.. Later, more expensive, like reactors powered by some kind of fuel.

4.       Fatigue! All elements should wear down over time. Not fast enough to annoy people but in the pace that will require to buy new ones or parts to repair old ones.

5.       Making stuff should be way more harder. You want people to specialize – now it has no sense (in bigger picture). The game has less than 2 months and you can buy everything after 2 days of digging. Making things like warp drive – should take a month for a group of people to build. This way – you would see people working together – flying one big ship and cooperate. Now everyone has one or 10 of them.

6.       Warp beacons have no sense – why would you need them if a planet itself is a beacon. I was shocked when I’ve discovered that. Just silly. It makes it useless. Ok, you may want one to build you own space station, still you probably build one in safe zone (near planet) because there is no mechanics that let you defend it when you are offline and everyone with silly XS ship can destroy it.

7.       PVP! Do it fast! People love to compete, now pvp is a joke – it is all about fishing around planets and try to catch starting planes ? How less interesting it might get?
I can imagine you have focused on miners and creators during a creation of a game and I am last person who want to make this world a blood bath but it is just boring. We have a safe zone, great. The rest of world should be different. If you go to another planet and you want to make a safe base – you need „doors”, a proper base – otherwise someone will come and take your stuff.
On static cores there should be a way to set up a defenses that will shoot hostile ships – you need to build turrets equip them with ammo. Build force fields that will need Energy or other fuel…
Again, this would force people to stick together. If you make defenses system that really depends on skill system – this will lead to specialization etc..

8.       Same for space stations. How can one defend itself now?

 

I can imagine that it is time to optimization of engine etc.. But looking at the milestones you have… it is just not right direction. Like I said at the beginning. Game is awesome and has a great potential, on other hand it has no content for not-crazy-builders and miners and it will lose more and more players before even beta ends :/

If you aim for small community of people who love to spend hours on building ships, that`s fine. But it won`t give you enough resources to develop a game in direction, I think, you want to go.
 

It is not 2001 and competition is huge. You need to do something before ending beta or there will be less and less players to play with and the whole idea of great mmo will die.

Of course it is only my opinion. I am not a specialist.
