Instead of a wipe at end of Beta, they should launch a "fresh" server.

You think that all end game players and orgs are exploiters... FFS if i would bother (and know how back then) to be efficient from the start i would already have AAG, WARP cell factory, 10 territory scanners, whatever you think endgame is. Which by the way is not endgame at all. Endgame is politics, city building, etc. All that what you are talking about is midgame at best. Without using a single exploit. Just grind up to territory scanners, couple meganodes and use market to get snowball faster. And i'm not even that good at that game. 10 well organised people could leave me in dust. We have orgs from alpha which are extremely well organized and counting 50+ members. They know the game, they don't need to exploit to get crap tone of stuff done in fraction of the time some newbies banded together can do.

No worries, a valid inquiry... "Is this just someone that hasn't even played the game yet..."

Really my two big issues are I am not all that happy with my initial patch of land and how I got it started.  Looking back I'm like "I should have..." and wouldn't say no to a restart.

So you are calling me an exploiter?  Screw you dood, I have just been playing for three years and knew the shit out of it before it launched.  Do you always call people who understand / perform better than you a cheat?  Quite happy to explain how I got where i did, it is not complex, I just saw the opportunities a lot of player miss.

I am also not bored, because I havent built my space casino.

The only thing which can't be fixed right now is Sanctuary plot choice, everything, literally everything, else would be better to just switch to instead of restarting.

Talents? Just start queueing other things. Industry? Well, you do probably have some machines, you can just remake factory. Ship? Well, i guess you have something which is not a basic speeder so already a plus. And so on :).  If you hate your place, just jump to alioth, find nice plot of land and see where you go when TW get implemented. Worst case scenario you will have to relocate again - much less hassle then reestablishing yourself after wipe. 
Wipe won't also make you more "competitive". Well organized orgs has that covered. Wipe? They will just reestablish themselves quick - in probably one week if not less - its after all only question of parallel mining and industry. You won't beat organized 50 people who know what they are doing.

This is why I can't really understand what wipe will do good, beside nullifying some exploiters wealth - who in end game (so org vs org) picture I highly doubt are that significant.

Honestly I think they should have made like 5 moons for starting out.  5 sanctuaries.  Each with a different look to them.  That's just me.  And trust me, I have my queue going, it's got 2 days worth of things to learn.

Then delete your accound and make a new one every time you get bored, other people have no played 3 years and request wipe every 3 days

This game need grind to get so much stuff, exploiters just teleport stuff from other planets to main base, bipassing all transport issues, this is why some people is in more advance state, no counting experience on the knoledge of the mechanics, if you have to no pay fuel or warp cells to move Ore all become so fast.

Making 1kt atmo-space transport ship is relatively easy. Actually it took me somewhere around 4 days to make such ship solo (including all components) without even trying to be efficient. Making good looking ship takes a bit longer :P With correct piloting talents I could go for 2kt too. Transport is easy. have you seen some of logistic ships out of big corporations?! They are ready for (easy) multiple kt of cargo. Think how much you grind in 10 hours. Multiply it by 20 people. Remember that bigger corps has 50+.  Tell me again that it is only out of exploits xD. 

But really, if you know so much about exploiters, I really hope you gave all the proofs to NQ already. Didn't you?

Sems is a waste of time discuss with you, the exploits are public, and posted in pach notes, i cant open speak about its why violate the eula, but use your own brain to find the information.

I think you will find I created and posted a video for NQ about this exploit several weeks ago, you dont need exploits to get ahead, knowledge and hard graft is enough.  I am in a better state because i work harder at it.

I start to like this new universe idea more and more. Just with few cavoites - No puzzles, GM interventions (unless exploits are documented), no market bots, no wreckage, no tier 3+ ore in safe zone, no backchannel communication. Just give us sandbox to build in. Otherwise? What would be the point? Nothing would change.

Maybe you are like me, spending time tinkering around, and realized you made a lot of mistakes as an uneducated "wow that video looked cool, I'mma try it" blind hop in.  The concept of a fresh start is appealing.  
I'd give Beta players 2 days max to hop in.  Maybe let them carry over 1 million in credits, a special title and maybe extra training points for their time vested.  This would encourage some to make the switch to help the new server take off.  

Make it clear to new players when game is live "If you come here, this is a vibrant established server where many players have built a flourishing economy and community"  And "If you start here, it's the wild west, a fresh start where veterans will have a small boost of training points and credits but really the playing field is "even".

I think that would be the best compromise.

I'm through several alpha wipes and my opinion is "who cares"? Wipes are a minor issue.

 

I get back to poor noob state, squee, fun! I can build the gigafactory again and I have new ideas for it!

 

Don't get too stuck to your assets or status. The journey is the fun.

On the topic, I understand that people don't want to loose all their hard work in scripts/buildings/ships, but I also understand people who say that joining at launch only to be months behind is no fun. The later one is mostly caused from the ore topic, as we don't know how they will be able to reasonably get to tier 3 (or even tier 2, outside of their own territory on sanctuary, and even that can be lacking) and higher ore without buying everything from the market, considering that at that point, the starting system will most likely be mined out of anything more valuable. Hopefully NQ will come up with a system to mitigate this, but I no longer have much hope on this.

This is the right way of thinking.

And if you have any important lua scripts, save them outside of the game (best in some version control system) and you wont even loose that part.

Yes, some things are extremely hard to rebuild (voxelmancy...), but I think the journey to that is also a lot of fun and if it is needed then it is needed.
