What about some form of logistics system (pipes, conveyor belts,...) that can be used to connect our containers and machines?

 

Could include things like routers, splitters, filters, buffers, extractors,...

 

Maybe could even a port system that could transfer between separate constructs (cores).

That would be another load on an already stressed server, though the aesthetics would be nice.

I think there are ways to make it performant, e.g. When building, the server simply validates the connections and saves them internally as they are currently.

The linking system gets the job done. Maybe if you want just aesthetics add mini drones that travel between linked elements to carry the cargo. I love a good factory game, but thats not really what this is

What bothers me about the current system is that you can't connect an input container as an output. Is there a reason for this other than that it makes things more complicated?

Thats right.

I would love it not to double up machines to get autimatically productions.
