Using Blueprints Made On Land ... In Space

Hey folks,

 

I’ve been wondering if it’s possible to build a construct (thinking along the lines of a space station) on the ground, get a blueprint for it, and then make it from the blueprint in space to avoid fuel costs from going back and forth to space. Let me know if you guys have tried this or just know why it wouldn’t work
