As fuel/energy storage tanks get buried within the internals of a vehicle, due to factors like armour, size and complexity, why not have a vehicle Fuel/Energy Port Element that can be placed on the outside of a vehicles hull? Just like we have with fuel fillers on today's cars.

This would also allow for the filling of those fuel/energy tanks without giving someone access to the internals of the ship.

A log system could also be implemented to show when fuel/energy was added, as well as how much, and who by.

Bulk fuel transfers would be the fastest servicing possible, I would imagine. Very much like the scene in "The Fifth Element".

I often wonder why long-haul electric vehicles wouldn't use a similar process.  A semi pulls into a station, the depleted battery/is swapped out for a fully charged one and the truck rolls out. The depleted battery is then connected to a charging system which fills it back up more slowly, which is better for the battery's overall life. (but this has nothing really to do with DU)

The Container Hub (when fully implemented) will possibly make an excellent refueling point !

According to the notes on the Trello, the Container Hub will ultimately also be able to link fuel tanks together. All that is needed is to make it possible to use that Hub panel as a refuel point, seeing as it's small, flat and can be placed anywhere.

Actually, no.

In battle you would end up with the container hub on the outside of the ship, and if its hit then you dramatically limit the amount of fuel to engines, if not completley cut it off. ?

It would be much better to have the refuelling point on the surface of the ship that connects to the fuel tank/container hub that is located in the bowels of the ship.

Yea, RL businesses set up to do this have gone broke simply because a person who takes care of their batteries could get batteries that were in worse condition, and hence less capacity, more chance to fail, and reduced value.

Most vehicles, even long haul semi's have plenty of down time to recharge while stopped. (For example unloading/loading).

BTW this may have something to do with DU as electricity/power will be a thing, just not yet ;)

Like gas station propane in real life?

"Grandson, you know how the world runs?" James said in a gruff voice, taking a huff a cigar made from local baskaweed.

A child, no older than 4, looks up at his grandfather, and nods no.

"The world runs on 3 things: oil, money, and drugs. Now, we built our empire when we first landed upon this great planet, and we took this planet's graceful resources to help humanity. Them police forces are trying to shut us down for illegal minin', I just make some threats!" James spoke and chuckled at that last remark, and the child listened intently while his neural processor tries and process that information. The processor found the joke and rated the humor as "below sub-par."

"But papa, where's my coa-cwoa sippy cup?" The child says, as he looks into his rather empty cup that he drank in 3 gulps.

James sighs and mutters something about "those damn millennials."
