Orius
When the Novark accelerates to past light speed, wouldn't it be constantly bombarded with particles from the space dust and gas? Can kyrium contain this much bombardment before disintigrating? The only warp drive that can travel faster than light is known as the Alcubierre warp drive, proposed by Miguel Alcubierre, which bends the fabric of space time to make distances contract closer together, resulting in a kind of bubble. There are many problems that could theoretically occur as a result of this drive. 1) Particles could be swept up along the path of this bubble, resulting in possible high energy release towards a particular planet, annihilating said planet, or doing extreme damage to this planet without destroying it. Another problem is the survivability of the inside of the bubble, which is completely cut because of too much Hawking radiation. Also, the ship's crew, or in this case A.I., would not be able to control the ship because it would be going too fast. So, in the game lore, could new physics possibly be discovered that could help the probability of this device bring practically used in this timeframe? ShioriStein
500 year away from here and they still use our known computer ? Now day maybe you will see like Super Computer or else thing and you should know that a computer called Quantum Computer which suppose to solve a math which take a super computer to solve in 1000 year just in a second is under researching. So in future maybe we got a faster computer than quantum but now, with the speed of the quantum as a milestones i see AI can catch thing with speed of light no ? Also Algorithm which make computer go smooth, after 500 year who know how it go. So i would like the idea about bubble and Kyrium. In the end Kyrium is a material of future no ? Even now we got something called re-fixing material no ? After all everything is possible, the only need is the energy, with energy you can almost do anything. So follow the theory maybe Kyrium got strength with energy ? It can take energy to rebuild itself no ? After all Kyrium is a unknow material like in the lore, every possible can happen. Ha, that's good, so instead of increasing speed to the limit of speed of light, one merely "moves space" instead so that resolves the speed issue? Nice. Are Warp Jumps a form of "Worm-Hole" then? Ie star-gates will work like this I guess? Someone with better organizational skills needs to tidy all these concepts up as applied to DU, imo! Kurock
According to current lore, the arkship reaches near light speeds but does not actually surpass it.
Sunrider44
Quote Propulsion Engines: the conquest and exploration of the arrival star system, as well as nearby other stars, is a clear objective of the UEF for each arkship colony. Several engine technologies have been perfected as part of the Rebirth Program to allow for various flight modes, either within the atmosphere or in space. Warp drive technology was near completion and should become available a few years after the arrival, and even stargate instant transport has been sketched as a not too distant possibility but was unfortunately still not available at the time of the Grand Exodus. Warp drive speed is believed to be in the range of 100 times the speed of light, while super warp probes, that could be used to seed stargates, could reach up to 10.000 times the speed of light Making it possible to cross the entire galaxy in just 10 years. From the lore bible: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/10414-official-dual-universe-lore-bible/& They do not speak about Alcubierre. Mentioned in passing, Alcubierre stuff is very far to be a "warp drive", it's a mathematical solution for the General Relativity equations. Nobody knows if it will be possible to reach FTL speeds this way, it's basically hype train for now.

Lol, those speeds: x100 and x10,000 the speed of c: I guess the old adage: "If you're going to "lie" then "lie big"!" applies here. Of course it's sci-fi theory-crafting so as long as there's some interesting theory or concept or thought experiment behind this "solution" then it serves it's purpose just fine.
