The "New Warsaw Oblast" is now looking for members!

Recommended Posts

The New Wasrsaw Oblast, an organization focused solely on the creation of a Block in the DU universe.

This organization, to be commonly known as the Oblast, is structured as follows:

1)    The General Secretary
2)    The Politburo Ministers:
     a.    Foreign Affairs Minister
     b.    Defense Minister
3)    KGB Director

The Oblast aims to create a Block where everyone can live in a Utopia, where the machine and its profits are for whomever works the machine. We will do as we please, we will stop at nothing and we will ensure our survival through which ever means necessary; but respect amongst our people, our Marxist brothers and sisters, will be our Prime Directive.

This Oblast accepts both individuals and organizations into its alliance.

Chack out the New Warsaw Oblast on our Discord! -> https://discord.gg/6gXG2vV

In my opinion - no offence BioChemBud, this is not personal - but this is the most strange idea of ingame organization as I ever seen - ever.
You want to propagate communism in DU or what? Please explain.
And the name of Your organiation is, in most sensitive way.. inappropriate.
Or If it's suppouse to be a joke then no funny.

Hi everyone!

Friendly reminder:

No Organization promoting or referring to real life politics, ideology or religion will be accepted as mentioned in the forum rules (section III):

This specific rule will be enforced both on the forum and in-game.

Note: You can create Politics, ideology or religion that are not existing in real life. This must remain a fiction.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best Regards,

Nyzaltar.

I have edited the text. I hope that it has not offended anyone as it was not the intention. This org uses fictional flags and symbols to separate it from entities that have caused pain to the people. If any further edits should be required, please let me know.

So if I decide to make Naztzi party that use three-legged swastika as a symbol, it will be alright?

I have nothing against totalitarian war criminals in game, but at least invent something original. Misspelling the name and slightly modifying symbol don't do the job.

The name shouldnt cause any trouble as it is the compostition of New (clearly understandable), Warsaw (a city) and Oblast (which translates from russian into region in english). Additionally, the Warsaw Pact was a legitimate military agreement in response to the Allies' rearmament of West Germany and other WW2 devastated nations, proposed by the Czechoslovak Government; so there should be no negative connotations other than it was associated to Soviet minded nations. Might I add that similar treaties existed between the allied nations (Eg: NATO), and they arent seen as bad political agreements. As for the stars, there are two types shown on the "flag" of this fictional org: the european union circle of stars, represeting union and freedom, and the red star. Sure the red star is associated to the communist regime of the USSR, but it was used as well by other nations, including the Spanish Second Republic. As a matter of fact, the Spanish Assault Guard (entity terminated by 1939) used the red star as part of its ranking symbols within its armed forces. I must add that the Spanish Assault Guard fought for the liberties of the Spaniards and defended their Constitution (2nd Spanish Republic) until the very end of the rebellion led by Franco's forces. Sure, I'll grant you that I did re-use the star with the shaking hands from the original Warsaw Pact "logo", but I used it to represent the true meaning that it was meant to have: an association of communist thinking nations to make front to a rapidly remilitarizing of West Germany and the creation of the NATO organization by the allies.

So I wouldnt be too quick to judge the symbols presented above.

Warsaw pact was established to reinforce Russian occupation (using puppet governments) over countries they invaded and conquered during WW2. It's about as legitimate as Vichy government in France during WW2. How could there be no negative connotations?

Treaties like NATO or EU, while also highly debatable, at least were not signed under gunpoint, in a country that had its legitimate government in exile. So the difference is like false advertisement and robbery.

And the flag.... Even if we decide to ignore use of the star in the identical configuration and colours as in original Warsaw Pact, it still consist hammer and sickle. And that's equal to placing small swastika somewhere. And I mean exact swastika shape, colours and orientation used by German National Socialist party, not some debatable symbol of the sun.

Overall the rule stated by Nyzaltar is clear - no direct references to real life politics. Because it always bring negative connotations. Personally I don't mind references to ideologies (commie orgs), but not real organisations.

PS. You have typo in first post

So I thought you try to hide the reference by minor misspelling.
