Simulated computer systems

The devs said that we will be able to program things in Lua(Programming Language). It could mean there will be simulated computer OSs,

Networks and other things. I like the idea of being able to hack an enemy ship or machine.

LUA is realyl basic and efficient extension languge for a C/C++ engine (like the one used by the devs).

The thing is, the devs won't input LUA in its raw form. They will omit some of its commands to avoid hacking or cheating in-game. Sure, you could create a password for your ship to go online, a form of "key" if you will.

But don't expect LUA to allow you to make A.I. in-game, not in a surreal way at least. Automated drones? Sure, perhaps even tethered on a weapons' officers in-game terminal, the way guns will be operated on a ship, but don't expect an autonomous fleet of ships, that can repair themselves, harvest resources, or trade on their own volition, without any help by the players.

LUA won't be a legit botting excuse.

"The developers may allow basic forms of hacking, just for the sake of immersive game play. In our current days, not a day goes by without one person, company or nation being hacked into. How much more in five hundred years' time? Just don't expect it to get extreme. Certain parts of the game will be inaccessible and if you do find an illegal way to hack into Dual Universe, you'll be banned. "

Well, hacking is a pretty antiquated. Trying jamming or hijacking. A "hacker" could be the equivalent of the traditional fantasy MMOs' Warlock. Applying things like Worms (Curses), or viruses (hexes( onto an enemy, causing them to lose accuracy or stun them upong using an ability, or something like that, BUT, it would have to be in deep specialisation, so the "hacker" class would not have the ability to, let's say, wear a pwoered armor, because the hacker's abilities would cost a lot more if the hacker would be to wear a power armor. As I said, I hope the hacekr class is more like a legit ninja, changing your in-game name to blend into a crowd, with another hacker having the abiltiy to break our "illusion" with his own skills.

That's, in my opinion, emergent and amazing. It would make the best ninja-hackers-rogues stand out of the mass of generic people who went rogue because "ermagerd, support classes are for wussies". I want my rogue to take brains and thought out procedures, not just "click one buton, now I am invisible" kind of ninjas.

Scripts will be written by ourselves, so it means its yourself that will let opened doors into your script for interaction with your scripted object. this could be done probably by chat commands, buttons and others. but if you are not carefull when writting those scripts and dont alloy the right permissions, yes some other people might be able to interact with your objects.

I wont be like in other games like DeusEx, Metal gear solid, where u just play a mini game within the game and if you success it will hack it, its gonna be trickier. start learning LUA from now

This makes me curious as to what limits we will have. I'm most interested in things like a guild taking a planet, making it the home world, and seeding it with mecha that stride the land and attack unauthorized personal. They hold this planet for a while, till a small group of hackers with the right gear make planet fall, perhaps in a dropship to avoid orbital guns, and begin hacking these massive bots to change their friend/foe recognition.
