Arkship Crater?

Hi Team

The lore implies the Arkship hits Alioths crust hard and fast to embed itself solidly into the surface.

Now the arkship is big, and heavy, and is built to take the impact, however the ground is not.

Meteors that hit planets leave craters.

So the question becomes will the Arkship actually create a 20km radius CRATER around it when it lands?

This would expose low hanging fruit ores as well as give an excuse as to why its barren around the Arkship giving players a visual reason to leave the safe zone - "look grass!"

Just a thought for the devs to think over :)

Naturally comments are welcome :)

Hiii, Good idea.  they really should implement a crater. Unless! the waking period of the sleeper pods is overdue and we all woke after a millenia of sleep.

Also the impact should rearange the dirt at impact side due to high heat. And it would be the easiest way to mark the 20 km border, just make the impact crater that large. Would solve some issues probably too

Eh, not really making any sense there.

If the arkship hit alioth how the lore bible states, hard and fast instead of a slowed landing, the craters gonna be a whole lot bigger than 20km

Also no. The 20km zone will be the first thing new players, who NQ want to retain, see. They don't want to see a hundreds of square kilometers of rock and dirt, they want to see stunning visuals on the landscapes. And what issues, exactly?

Overall, No, it wont make a 20km crater as that would be bad from a business and gameplay point of view. And also, overall, it never actually states it embeds itself into the lithosphere, or uses any form of lithobraking for that matter. "The Novark arrives on Alioth with a mighty thud as it deploys itself into the planet surface."

There already is a small crater where the arkship landed.  You can't mine in the safezone anyway.

This is not quite true:

There will be three types of areas:

  1. Arkship Secure Areas (ASA):
  • Territories located in an Arkship Secure Area are called “Guarded Territories”.
  • A player can claim a Guarded Territory with a Normal Territory Unit.
  • On unclaimed Guarded Territories there are no offensive actions. Everything else is allowed.
  • On claimed Guarded Territories there are no offensive actions. Everything else is subject to RDMS.
  • Low value resources are available in the ground.

(Reminder: RDMS is the Rights & Duties Management System. You can have a glimpse of how it will globally work on this blog post)

  1. Moon Secure Areas (MSA):
  • Territories located in a Moon Secure Area are called “Sanctuary Territories”.
  • A player can claim a Sanctuary Territory with a Normal or Sanctuary Territory Unit. (Note: Sanctuary Territory Units are bound to account). The precise role and application of Sanctuary Territory Units will be explained in more detail at a later date.
  • On unclaimed Sanctuary Territories there are no offensive actions and nothing else is allowed.
  • On claimed Sanctuary Territories there are no offensive actions and everything else is subject to RDMS.
  • No valuable resources are available in the ground (only dirt and soil).
  1. Unsecure Areas (UA) Meaning and Everywhere Else:
  • Territories located in Unsecure Areas are called “Normal Territories”.
  • A player can claim a Normal Territory with a Normal Territory Unit.
  • On unclaimed Normal Territories everything is allowed.
  • On claimed Normal Territories offensive actions are possible and everything else is subject to RDMS.
  • Low value to high value resources are available in the ground.

Mind the difference between ASA / MSA / UA - while you CAN mine in unclaimed ASA tiles, you CAN'T do so in unclaimed MSA tiles (which wouldn't make much sense in the first place as there are no resources there)
