How are you going to play the game?

I plan on building a ship that gets ever larger, from small to large to huge to gargantuan, a monstrous space hulk. A flying Frankenstein's vehicle. The sort that if you get lost in, you might truly get lost. If possible, make it a flying city. I'm thinking along the lines of Sidonia (from Knights of Sidonia).

hm.. I love Scrap! SCRAP! Stylesheet, SCRAP!

 

My Ideas  :

- A Scrap collecting Ship or smaller Base in Space with a Workshop for Mechs.. called Rusty Monkey

- a neutral Space Pub with the name Rusty's and the slogan Carry a break , we take care of your old bird!

- Heavy Metal and SCRAP!

- a small planetary research or manufacturing base for cheap weapons and so on

 

...and eventually any time in a distant galaxy a Arena for Mechs to fight for the cup! YEAH!

 

(erm.. the y between Rust>y<'s .. written ie or y? .. sorry for this question, but i don't know xD)

I plan on building infrastructure and industry. Manufacturing and mining to provide ships, weapons, and materials for other players or an organization. In the end its all about profit and using that profit to expand.

 

I imagine great underground factories churning out critical war supplies and even greater enemies from the sky attempting to destroy them from orbit.

I would like to be someone who brings people together and facilitates communities, perhaps building a cool bar/trading post in the early game.

This  ^     If anyone played swg... they had cool planet bars where there were entertainers (an actual profession in the game), drinks, music... etc.  It was fun.   Trading posts... bars...  I'm there.

My dream is to run a massive casino in a popular safe zone, somewhere like near the Arkship, Initially I'll have to find a way to get currency to fund the casino but after that  it's all Neo Vegas

 

Casinos in space is always dangerous. They might all have Cylons in the lower decks... ;)

I'll be trying to push the limits during alpha and beta, seeing just how big I can make something, how awkward or poorly a ship can handle, how fast I can make a ship built just to be fast, etc.

 

At launch however, I'll get my org together as best as I can, get into space ASAP and go pretty far out. Far enough that it would be pretty challenging to bump into us accidentally without sensors (yes and far enough for trade to be terribly inconvenient). Go isolationist for a while until we've got a general culture and uniform-ish look going. Once we've got a good mix of ships, weapons, loot etc...

 

We'll return to populated space, a foreign people with foreign looking tech, with our own isolated history. neat?

I'll be building.  Structures, ships, vehicles, whatever people need.  On the side, probably have a nice little cantina for socializing, people to meet and trade (either above or below the table), inconspicuous meeting place for people, good music, drink, waitresses with questionable morals, you know, the usual   :)  Someplace that if there is an RP community, they can hit as well to do what they do.

This is my general plan as well. Either create or join an exploration guild that has a primary purpose of pushing the limits of how far from civilization we can go. Hopefully it will be possible to build a star gate that can only be used by guild members to give us a way back to civilization once we are far beyond where others will go.

EDIT: I did form the org, it is call the Wayward, you can find the link in my sig.

I'm going to be forming (another) connected org for deep colonies, and might be interested in establishing a fairly remote hub unless there ends up being serious travel limitations based on tiered ship parts (it may be that to go further than X distance from the start planet, you need a more advanced engine or ship drive or something).

 

Stargates will eventually be a thing, but that is a loose plan they have for a post-launch expansion.

I'm in for building resource gathering systems. I'll start out with building a moving mining station that gathers resources, processes them into base materials and move the platform to the next resource point.

 

I will sell my materials to anyone and influence the market by (for example how the diamond industry here on Earth does it) storing massive ammounts in storages, so the demand and supply stays in check in my favour.

 

This opperation ofcourse needs a person who understands the market, a person who'll manage the infrastructure between the moving base and storage depots/markets and a person who organises the security.

 

Once this grows, because people don't like grinding but do like their big expensive projects such as Death Stars and other copyrighted stuff, I can expand my corporation and provide influence in local politics. Buying politicians, sell-sort and others to one day become filthy rich.

 

Then, I'll blow up my entire corporation (litterally! Best firework show EVER) and watch the whole system that has been depending on my corporation tip over like dominos. Anarchy and chaos at its finest. You muppets have no idea what you're in for.

 

 

...and meanwhile irl still do the same office job and be disguisted by exactly the same people doing this in real life.

Plan B: Design very cool looking space ships like they are sportscars. I have experience with video editing so I'll also make commercials for them. I'll get a Brit to do a Top Gear escque voice over.
