My idea of goods traffic in DU

The idea is to use virtual items.

So it is then possible to exchange things like Quantas, Blueprints and contracts like normal items.

One then couples an exchange order to an item "Exchangenummer" (short EX#) and can then sell it together with other real items as a package together. Money can also be used e.g. "Quanta-Item" (short EX$) can then be used independently of players to perform later secured transactions. Furthermore, it is possible to deposit blueprints (short EX?) To sell them then on the stock market. These and possibly other virtual values are generated by players as a virtual item and can then be used almost like all other items. You can also use the standard rights system (RDMS) on the virtual item.

And so it could work.

The direct exchange.

Each player has an EX$ in the inventory with the value 0. This item can be placed somewhere. At this moment the value of the EX$ is still 0. Now you can load the EX$ with any value you have in Quanta. All players in the immediate vicinity can see the EX$ and its value (depending on RDMS). If a player now touches this EX$, the value of that item is credited to his or her assets and disappears. When using the EX$ from the inventory, immediately creates a new EX$ with the value 0. EX$ with the value 0 which is not in the inventory disappear after 60 seconds automatically.
Thus an exchange of all things without further facilities is possible, but also dangerous.

Exchange via an Exchangebox.

There is a real item (Exchangebox) with 4 compartments for dealing. The seller/exchanger has access to 2 compartments of the Exchangebox for transaction, buyer/exchanger on the other 2 compartments. Seller/exchanger and buyer/exchanger always see the contents of all 4 compartments. The use of the Exchangebox can be charged by the owner with costs or if the duration of the lease is exceeded, rights may be lost.

If now a seller/exchanger take goods in one of the compartments, emerges after 3 seconds in the corresponding second compartment an EX#, on which a DU-wide unique number stands. If you take the EX# before expiry of another 3 seconds, you can set the offer in the exchange news with this EX# or use the EX# as a commercial commodity. When the EX# is removed, the access rights to the associated product are lost, and this disappears inside the Exchangebox (depending on the type of Exchangebox, 1, 10, 100 or 1000 transactions can be stored).
This also works with an EX$ to place a purchase offer on the stock market. For this purpose, the buyer places goods and/or an EX$ and occupies it with a value in one of the compartments, otherwise the process is the same as the seller.
In principle, it is also possible to have several goods, EX#, EX? and put EX$ in a tray to get a new EX# for the bundle.
If you put only one EX# into a compartment, you get after 3 seconds simply the deposited goods, EX#, EX$ and EX? back, it is the one is at the wrong Exchangebox, then one gets only the location of the right Exchangebox reported. If the items stored are only virtual items, you can link them to the correct Exchangebox via the exchange network and take the virtual items from the current Exchangebox.

If the EX# is not taken within the 3 seconds, 2 different things can happen:
1. on the buyer's side is not the same EX#, then the EX# disappears on the seller's side again and you have access again to the goods, which now again appears from the Exchangebox. Now the 2 compartments are blocked until the goods are removed again. The removal of the goods must take place within 10 seconds, otherwise the goods are unclaimed and can be taken from each.
2. on the buyer's side the same EX# in one of the 2 compartments, then after 3 seconds both EX# disappear and on the seller's side the exchange commodity or an EX$ disappears when the credit is withdrawn. On the buyer side, the goods are displayed and can be removed (10 seconds rule).

How do you get the same EX# (unique number in DU)?

There are 3 possibilities:

1. Transaction without Exchange:
The business partner has created an EX# or placed an EX# in a compartment. Now press the "EX#" button on the opposite side of the Exchangebox terminal within 3 seconds. This starts a countdown of 60 seconds, in which both players must come to an end by changing the goods or payment compartment or by reinserting the respective EX#. Only when both EX# are in the compartments and the other compartments are not changed for 3 seconds is the transaction completed. If the countdown is 0, the entire process is terminated.

2. No commercial offer from stock market news:
The owner of the EX# places this in a compartment. Now everything runs as in 1. except for the examination on stock exchange conclusion. This means that the exchange listing of the order will be deleted after pressing the "EX#" button and waited for 3 seconds if another player has accepted the offer. If another player accepts the offer of the exchange in these 3 seconds, the transaction of the exchange is priority and the transaction is canceled. If it does not continue as in 1..

3. Accepted exchange trading:
The owner of the EX# places this in a compartment. The bidder must now press the "EX#" button (player is known by the stock exchange) within 3 seconds at the Exchangebox terminal, now the bidder has to place the agreed value in the slot for 10 seconds. The operation can be repeated 3 times on broken transations.

To the stock exchange

There is a universe-wide exchange report from all dealers in DU in list form.
These can be sorted according to dealer name, product group, article, or place of sale.

Stock market sale:
The vendor enters the EX# (item, quantity, pickup location), total price, and binding period into the stock exchange message. e.g. EX0001 (iron ore, 10to, Exchagebox Alioth Sector 0/10), 1000 Quanta, 48h. What would mean that the dealer sells 10 tonnes of iron ore for 1000 Quanta on Alioth in a certain place and this business has to be settled after pledge within 48 hours. If the order is not fulfilled within the specified time, the owner of the EX# can reset the offer or return the EX# on the Exchangebox and return the equivalent value. In any event, the Contractor loses the right to performance.
As long as no acceptance of the offer has taken place, the total price and the binding period can be changed. The changes will take effect 3 seconds after confirmation. Within this time the old, now no longer visible, conditions can be concluded (color coding).

Exchange offer:
The buyer shall enter the EX# (total price, place of delivery), article, quantity and binding period in the exchange message. e.g. EX0001A (1000 Quanta, Exchagebox Alioth Sector 0/10), iron ore, 10to, 48h. As long as the acceptance of the offer has not taken place, the article, the quantity and the binding period can be changed. The changes will take effect 3 seconds after confirmation. Within this time the old, now no longer visible, conditions can be concluded (color coding).

In order to be able to block up bids in the exchange news, as an owner of an EX#, an inclusion or exclusion list (which affects players or organizations) can be attached to the offer, invisible to others.

This is my idea of goods and exchanges service. Please check for logical errors.

Uhm. 3seconds, 10 seconds or even 60seconds isn't enough time. What if you have a DC?

What I really don't understand with this: why implement such a complicated system when you could just use the normal market terminal with a (even in rl) unified system of buy and sell orders?

Read here how they plan on doing it:

We will have a standard market like thousands in rl with margin trading, buy and sell orders and so on. Plus some kind of auction house.

So for well known items like minerals, elements, gear, implants and whatever else NQ implants in the game and which can be just calculated in price, you'd use the normal market to sell or buy it.

For ships or any other item which can't be solely pinned down in price by production cost, you'd use the auction house.

That said, we don't know if we can sell coordinates and stuff, but it would be a good addition to the game.

Oh and btw.....Why do you want to sell quanta? Oo just use your wallet and send it to the player.....

What is described by NQ so far is the direct trade. What NQ has already noticed is that transactions on the stock exchange must also be met. The possibilities for transactions with contracts (virtual items) are difficult to implement in a game world without a comprehensive legal system. Therefore, I have devised a system that allows the corresponding security also in the right-free space.
Yes, this makes the whole thing a bit more complicated, but the manipulation is not possible in my opinion.
As far as the seconds are concerned, they are short for security reasons, to prevent stranger attacks. Especially in the case of network interruptions, short times lead to more security.
But even with direct business a transfer system with handshake is useful, otherwise there is the risk that the business partner does not comply with its part of the agreement. In this case the calling for the police first becomes difficult, let the fulfillment (does not function even in the RL right). RL, there are also transaction transactions (but even more complicated)!
As for the Quanta item, this is proof that the buyer has the purchase sum.

Still don't get it, you don't need this system if you

1) have the normal market for all trading actions regarding bulk material

And

2) an auction house/contract system where you trade every other product.

You have to make sure anyway that this trade is safe (No ambush), that you trade the correct amount for the correct value and that it's not a scam.

Edit:

Why do you think this is better? Or why do you think NQs system is worse?

Hello Lethys,
In which world do you live?

Non-fulfillment of contracts is now nothing special (just foreign business). And even the shoplifter works by this way in the game. The NPC dealers of NQ do not bother you, but probably the other players, if NQ does not hedge every business.

So how do you do it, first the goods then the money or turned around ? Both is in a game with persistens risky. Just because you have a claim on a business you can not put it through, unless both business partners deposit their respective share. The Exchangebox is nothing else. The virtual items are only placeholders for the rights to the item. No one will bring spaceships to the market place!

German (orginal)

Hallo Lethys,

in welcher Welt lebst Du ?

I'm sorry, but I do not understand the majority of what you are proposing. It seems over complicated and unnecessary. Like Lethys said, there are already simple and effective methods to handle market transactions in place. Why fix it if it's not broken?

Hello Lord_Void,
I'm not saying that the system described by NQ does not work, it will probably.
In my opinion it is uncertain. Therefore my suggestion to NQ.
Sure there are other methods.

Hallo Lord_Void,

Daher mein Vorschlag an NQ.

Sicher gibt es auch noch andere Methoden.

Well if someone creates a buy order for 3000 iron for x quanta, then you go there, see this order and sell to him. Because goods are stored in the market, everyone gets what he wants. So yeah, I just don't know what you're saying there as this works in eve since 13 years

Hello Lethys,

Are sold in EVE always at or from the market, or also directly to the player?

This is done via contracts....Which will be an auction house in DU.

And you can do direct trades too. Just a window where you can put items and accept the trade. You don't need more, it's perfectly safe.....If you're able to read and pay attention.

I think NQ does not want a payment system with direct reference to the RL. Probably also one of the statements of JC in an interview.

I may be wrong, but perhaps what the OP was suggesting was something like EVE's "contracts" system, where a list of diverse items can be bundled together and sold in one transaction for a single price.

In EVE, that allows you to bundle a ship blueprint + the materials to build it, or perhaps a pre-built ship + modules, for instance. The whole package is then listed for a single price.

yes, this is a possibility, but one can make over the fulfillment period also date or option shops.
As a result of which the contracts are held as an item, almost all banking transactions are possible.

You have a source for that ?

I've read so many devblogs and posts in the last few weeks that the details are blurring, lol.

I thought DU was only going to have a market with buy and sell orders, i.e. "WTS 100 iron for Q50"...

Nope, see the link from huschhusch.

Market orders will be mainly used for items which are predefined by NQ (ore, minerals, materials, elements). Maybe even ships, but that has to be seen. Every item sold there has to be physically stored in the market so while you can see and possibly buy items from afar, you'd still have to go there and pick it up.

Auction houses are locally visible and may be used for ships, constructs, contraptions or whatever else you want to sell

The reference to "auctions" in that blog is in terms of how prices are determined, as opposed to how prices are determined for commodities sold in a "market economy".

You can have buy and sell orders for commodities, but you can only have sell orders for constructs, because they are "unique" items.

But are constructs still "unique" when you create 100's of the same model from a Master Blueprint ?

That blog makes no distinction between creating a "market" and an "auction house":

"In Dual Universe, creating a market will require nothing more than setting up a Market Unit, a particular Element that you can craft and install in any construct of yours. The Market Unit requires an energy supply and a container to store the traded goods. It can be as small as a front door market in your little farm, where travelers can buy your local production, to an orbital station sized market where interstellar megaships are traded."

I've not seen any references to a "contract market" as yet.

Well just as you always conclude that smth won't be there, I just do the contrary. They always said you'll be ablea to sell ships - if you can't do that on the market (which would make sense) then there'll be an auaction house to sell that. That devblog was written way before pre-alpha so maybe just wait and see what they have in mind
