I have been waiting for something like this, pretty much forever. I truly hope that all the tech they have put together will work the way they have invisioned to give us the experience I am sure so many of us are craving. Riding the hype train with hopes high! Personally I'd rather they get 90% of their tech done, stub out all major gameplay mechanics (economy, building, missions, UI, combat, exploration, etc) into a basic form at least, before opening any alpha up to the public.
