Grinder restrictions on enemy constructs

Recommended Posts

In some of these sandbox games, it does not allow you to grind down other player ships or buildings, you have to blow up the armor or take out it's core and then scrap it for parts. But in real life you can grind down walls, and the tougher one you have to blow up. So what if you can grind down lighter armor and basic doors, but require explosives to blow up the heavier ones. This way you don't have to waste explosives to blow up dingy armor, or ram it open with the skuls of your enimes. But if you destroy their core, then you can grind down everything.

I think this will balance it out from people just grinding through the maze, rather tan than actually doing the maze. It may take longer to grind, but you shouldn't be able to grind everything, and have to always use explosives and ramming.

I would say a reduced grinding efficiency on enemy constructs. Gives you less resources and takes longer to do (maybe exponentially?). Maybe you have a specialist piece of equipment that stops any impact on grinding speed but returns no resources (I call it 'The Scorched Earth')

If you can grind down ships and get resources, then you can also grind down the planet and get resources. It's all voxel based. JC has stated that mining should remain only in the hands of avatars.

If you want to open a hole in a ship forcefully, just use weapons. If you think it's too expensive, then maybe that's because it is. And should be. Just as surely as there's armor, there's going to be armor-penetrating munitions.

As for scrap mechanics, that's up in the air. I don't think NQ have said anything one way or the other. I would suggest giving that function to the ingame 3D Printers for ships. Same excruciatingly long and expensive process, just in reverse.

If memory serves me right, Nyzaltar said that recycling is currently not a thing.

I'll do my best to dig up the quote.

I'd imagine it'd have to be at some point, but I could see how many things won't be recyclable

I swear i keep reading this as 'Gender restrictions on enemy constructs'

Ya know though, if they dont have scraping it makes older places need new metal all that much more. since afaik underground metal isn't going to respawn ever. I ever question what the game design around all this really will turn out to look like
