Nicksum
Can someone describe what perspective this game will be played in? It looks like first person but i want to double check before i pledge on kickstarter. from videos it looks like ships are first person mode, can they be third person? what about when your walking around in world? can that be third person mode? Dygz_Briarthorn
http://www.dualthegame.com/faq "...we are considering to implement Third Person View as we know a lot of players prefer this view when playing MMO games, but this will be put on the roadmap after all the main gameplay mechanics are implemented and early editions of Dual Universe will be First Person." Kael
If they implemented a camera system like Skyrim where you can zoom in and out from First Person to Third Person, also orbiting around the character would be cool! Elite Dangerous also has a great idea where you basically go into a photo shoot mode. It disables all the UI and let's you move and rotate the camera freely to look around your ship and the environment. You can get some amazing screenshots! Limyaael
from videos it looks like ships are first person mode, can they be third person? Almost certainly not. How would you do third person mode on a multicrew ship and you're the engineer? The great thing about DU is that it'll make spaceship battles with proper, large ships actually different to fighting with small ships. It's not just "click on opponent, fire". You've got a large ship, with a lot of potential blind spots - you need ways to get around it and work out where your enemies are, whether that's via LUA-coded radar or looking out of lots of windows and telling the bridge. Hopefully its sooner rather than later at least by live release. I actually have less immersion and interest in the game if its only 1st person view. psioniq
Tumeden
It'll be first person at release. as stated in interviews there "might" be a purchasable element or upgrade of some sorts for a ship to be able to view in 3rd person (at a later date)

Indeed. Especially since in the beginning we will mostly all have small single-seated vehicles. 3rd person is a lot better from that aspect.
