  1. Phoenix Initiative was established with the intent of exploration. However, exploration by itself is not possible without supporting infrastructure. The Branches of Phoenix Initiative provide for the fulfillment of our exploration goals. Phoenix Initiative was founded by Allen Tainia after the historic landing of Novark on Alioth. His strong will and determination have brought us together to enable the human condition to learn about the universe. It is solely this desire that initiated the objective of exploration. Join us, satisfy your curiosity and fulfill your destiny. PI is split into branches, then departments, then, if need be, sections. Each branch will manage its own assets and can issue requests to other branches for its assets if it requires assistance. The directors all share the same duties as the highest ranking officials in each branch, however, they outrank them and act as the leader of each branch. For branches with two directors, the first position is called Alpha and outranks the second, Beta. Each member of the Core Assembly is one of these ten directors. The Core Assembly will make all decisions concerning large-scale PI operations with Allen Tainia as the Chairman of the Core Assembly. The rank of Journeyman will apply to all brand new recruits across each branch. They should not take long to advance to their particular branch's lowest rank. Journeymen will be judged more quickly and probably more harshly due to their untrustworthiness (forgive the negative connotation here). More trusted members will be allowed more leniency, since they have proven themselves. *We are currently taking applications for all vacant Director and top-rank positions (Admiral, Master Coordinator, etc...). When Alpha arrives, I will approve the best applicants and make a formal announcement to that effect. Applications submitted sooner have higher priority, so don't hesitate to apply. This waiting period gives a fair chance to everyone who applies. Application is not necessary to join PI, but it is required for Director and top-rank positions. Director/Top Rank Application Position: Age: Timezone: Estimate how much time you could allocate for us: Why should I pick you for this position?: To submit the application, PM me with a filled out application on the forums or on Discord. No application necessary to join PI, only for leader positions. Although there is a clear hierarchical order here, I intend for the gameplay rift between highest and lowest ranks to be minimal. All ranks ought to share somewhat the same style of gameplay. The only intentional difference is that the higher ranks get to call the shots. The agents of PI are expected to behave in accordance with a very simple code of conduct. PI is an organization based on exploration, science, invention, and diplomacy. We are not pirates and we are not griefers. We do not blatantly steal and destroy. Harassing other players in any way is unacceptable. Definition of harassment is entirely up to me and the judicial department. Violation of this code will result in punishment or possibly expulsion from PI. We will consider all actions and statements from you, even on "your" time. That includes in-game when you are not working on PI activities, or on the forums or other DU related community. Any character will be allowed to be members of other organizations only as long as there is no conflict: Not a pirate or other disreputable organization. We are not pirates and we do not associate with them.* You do not overextend yourself. Working two jobs takes a lot of effort. Will be allowed if you can handle yourself. No conflict with the other organization. If you're not sure, ask them. *Note that I said this was a character limitation. I am fine with you having another character which is a pirate. In fact, I may do that. This applies to characters only. I don't want people to get their hopes up for something that just isn't going to happen. A first day spawn just isn't going to become captain of a ship. Nor will a weekend-only player become a Director (a role which is supposed to be extremely active). I realize that sometimes things change or people encounter problems in their real lives, so those who lose time to play won't be punished or demoted as long as they tell the rest of us what's going on. This isn't meant to discriminate good or bad players, it is meant to manage expectations and avoid unpleasant surprises. There's nothing inherently wrong or bad with spending your time elsewhere. Regular playing and socializing lets me and other officers in PI examine your trustworthiness and willingness and ability to contribute, which allows us to place more trust in you. Very likely that only those who tend to play with us, get on VOIP with us, engage with us (and a lot of it) will get higher ranking positions or more benefits. This may seem to be unfair to those with extremely limited time and/or money, but that's the way it is. Trust is earned, not given. SilverLight Industries Founded as SilverLight Research by the United Nations in 2055 as a way to pool the research capabilities of many smaller companies into something that could assist with developing advanced Arkship technology, they were one of the few companies and organizations that could possibly compete with the globally powerful Nexus Corporation on a technological basis. Eventually, SilverLight expanded to include many other industries such as extraterrestrial mining and Arkship construction, assisting the U.N.’s Ark program through multiple facets of the project. However, the core project and top priority of SilverLight remained the artificial intelligence systems that would run the Arkships and assist humanity when they arrived on their new homeworld, Alioth. Soon after the last of the Arkships was completed, the U.N. shocked millions when it announced that Arkship resources were scarce, and that it would utilize an “artificial genetic selection algorithm” to decide who would live and who would perish in the oncoming apocalypse. Naturally, an uproar rose up, and riots and violent protests ravaged the streets of Earth in its last days. Recognizing that this was planned long before the Arkships’ completion, the Nexus Corporation, in cooperation with SilverLight and various other organizations, launched its own retaliation: “Project Cinderfall”. With SilverLight’s artificially intelligent algorithm development combined with Nexus Corp’s networking capabilities, Project Cinderfall circumvented the U.N.’s originally biased selection algorithm, allowing a much larger and more diverse population, including many members of SilverLight, to make it aboard the Arkships and into the rebirth of humanity in the age of Alioth.   3. “They told us it was impossible…They were right.” The scorching sun, the blistering desert wind, the screams and shouts of the desperate people behind us. The images immediately switched to outer space. I saw the earth, a small blue sphere, seemingly insignificant against the backdrop of the celestial realm in all its glory. The image stayed there for a second shorter than I would have liked it. Again, I was teleported into the chaos I just escaped. The people were being held off by armoured guards. Somewhere in my confused mind, I sensed a tinge of acquaintance with them all. The crowd seemed grimly desperate to get to where I was standing. “Hisashi, we need to leave, now!” A voice screamed in my ear. As the view turned, my eyes caught Kyle standing in the crowd. He was wearing the same uniform the others were wearing. Standing beside him were Nora and little Jeane. The three of them waved frantically at me, smiling and cheering me on. Somehow, I knew that they were all just trying to be brave: the sadness beneath their eyes was way too evident. But, my brother seemed happy, almost ecstatic at my departure. The door closed and darkness enveloped me. I woke up with a dreadful headache, enough of it to kill every living human three times over. My entire body was stiff and ached with a pain that drove me to the edge of utter madness. The place was cold, as if I took a walk on a winter evening without so much as cloth on my back. Somewhere in my foggy mind I remember being told to stay still and wait the pain out. While I waited for the pain to subside, I strained to get my thoughts together. The thoughts that came were ones I didn’t ever want to remember. I slept off, the tiredness overcoming the terror of pain. Kyle, Nora, Jeane, Sonke, Tzu, Peretti, Karl… A pang of guilt stung me, hurting more than the pain my body had to endure. I killed them. I killed them all. The Arkship could only take so few people and it was no secret that to a large extent, the selection process was corrupted. What was to become of the people left behind? Death, famine, wars, disease and distress. Oethe Inc. had decided to change that. As the Arkship was being constructed, Oethe was busy building our light at the end of the tunnel. The masses sponsored the project: any alternative hope was worth the world. Hundreds of billions of dollars were poured in and still the people on this craft with me were the children and grandchildren of those that had started the project. What was the name again? I struggled to scratch my head, realising that I could move my hands. How long was I asleep? I craned my neck to the left all that was there was the white wall of the “Cocoon”. With a hiss, the transparent cover slid down, and the Cocoon tilted, patiently waiting, it seemed for me to make my first step. It was harder than I thought possible. My body was as stiff as a mountain. With great difficulty I put one foot out and adjusted my weight—I was floating within the moment. Slowly pulling myself along the cold metallic walls, I used the faint illumination provided by the electric blue phantom lights somewhere on the roof to guide myself along the dark corridor to the control centre. The pain was immense, nerve wracking at times, as my joints began to recover the fluidity of movement they once had. We had been warned, hadn’t we? The project we were undertaking was one that entire nations in a massive and surprisingly concerted effort struggled to finance and complete. Even if we did complete the project, what would happen if an error on the on-board computer wiped us out in space? What was going to stop space debris from destroying this fragile structure? Nonetheless, we pressed on. What hope did we have here on earth or with the corruption fraught selection system the United Nations hailed as fair and square? We had no hope on this planet. As I entered the massive control centre, Eidolon came online. “Hisashi, how are you feeling?” I loosened my tongue and tried to reply. All that came out was a grunt. “Is that how you thank me for keeping your sorry life intact?” I shook my head, half amused, half frightened. Eidolon was the on-board AI developed by Oethe. He was more human than computer, being based in part on the high output brain scan of the Oethe founder. That made him, above all else, dangerous. “I would have opened the air-lock to teach you manners, but the lot of you are still going to die anyway.” My neck snapped in the direction of his holographic image. “Ow! Whaa…do…say?!” “There is a catastrophic system failure in Section 53. The Instant On-board Error Analysis and Repair System (IO.EARS) has reported its inability to fix the problem.” Section 53 was the central propulsion hub. “How much…tume… we have?” I asked, sweating despite the cool breeze. Eidolon moved across the room to the windows. “Until we enter the gravitational field of the Arkship’s current home: one hour, fifty-four minutes and thirty-three seconds.” Panic kicked in faster than light. I could leave this ship and escape. There were enough emergency crafts to go round and I could at least save myself and carry the legacy of the Oethe with me. Eidolon could be deactivated or commanded, either way, I would need his help. “Thinking of leaving, aren’t we, Grand Architect?” I spun round and flew back in bewilderment as Eidolon closed in on me. “I’m disappointed.” Even as he said those words, the command centre lit up in a brilliant but, macabre show of red lights. Eidolon stood over me, looming and threatening even as the lights made his face seem dark, almost hellish. “You are—“ “Shut up.” I spat and assumed my standing position. He looked taken aback. “I said shut up, if you didn’t hear me the first time. I’m not leaving. Go make yourself useful somewhere.” Without so much as a word, the AI vanished into animated aurora that flew down the corridor and out of sight. Running away right now would make me a worse person than all the tyrants, dictators, cowards, deceivers and war mongers that made us leave in the first place. I slowly sat down in the Prime Seat and assessed our imminent death. The five hundred and fifty-seven people on this ship were my family and responsibility. The survival of Project Deliverance hung on my shoulders. From what the Argos’ computer was relaying to me, there was no chance of survival. The critics of this Project Deliverance had clearly told us: “It’s impossible.” They were right. The planet loomed ahead, embracing us with arms of death. At this speed, we would all be dead before we felt any pain. I whispered to myself, lost in fear, terror and desperation. “Hold on, Kyle. I’m coming.” Part Two will be released soon.   4. VENDETTA: RETRIBUTION AT ANY PRICE Vendetta is an organization to provide a central market and hub for mercenary and bounty hunting services specializing in "retributive" services. We would rather be hired to support an organization's military in retaking territory than conquering territory. We also intend to run "training" missions through pirate hotspots aiding in vigilante justice or earning extra cash from controlling organizations. HISTORY In the last days before the great exodus, humanity devolved into utter choas. Wars broke out within wars. Looters and pirates pillaged what little remained. Governments failed, corporations imploded. Justice was abandoned. Having seen the savage in mankind unleashed and knowing the infection it set in those lucky enough to escape, Vedetta vowed that it would do what it could to purge the new world injustice. However, Vendetta was not blameless in the old world order. No one was. With this mindset, in the new world Vendetta set out to create a network of people who would answer the call to help bring justice to the new world. In short, consider us a mercenary and bounty hunter group closer to Dexter than Batman. ACTION & TECHNOLOGY ACTION Mercenary Services Ultimately, our primary market will be in providing premium mercenary services for groups seeking revenge or defense. If someone takes your territory or destroys your station, we hope to be the first choice in hiring additional support in retaking territory and exacting revenge. If your trade route has been set upon by pirates, we hope to be the first call to provide additional support. We believe this will be compatible with membership of most governmental or para-governmental organizations. In fact, we hope these organizations make up a part of our client base. Naturally, the question of who rightfull held a territory becomes a question, but we should be able to agree on certain rules that resolve this question acceptably to the interstellar community. Bounty Hunting Services In addition to larger scale mercenary services, we intend to offer bounty hunting services for individuals or small groups. We will provide a market for solo assassins and small groups of assassins. Patrol For Hire (or Sport) For training, our market will offer patrolling services for any area generally controlled by an organization as a known hotspot for pirates or griefers. Outside a pay market, in training, our members may patrol trade routes and hot spots looking to provide additional support to those being harassed by pirates or griefers. Donations for such services are always welcome. TECHNOLOGY In addition to services. We intend to develop designs and scripts related to stealth, speed, and targeted attacks. This will include designs that will be both sold on the market and designs retained for exclusive use of our members. COMMUNITY Vendetta also provides a central hub for individuals with similar philosophy. Our hope is to attacked membership from a wide variety of organizations that our compatible with our actions. We do not intend to devote much resource in holding territories; we believe we can mostly make due with organization resources being contained within safe zones. Instead, it is our hope to a market of mercenaries spread throughout interstellar space. Membership in Vendetta should also signal that the player is interested in getting into the action while having an overall sense of justice. ADMINISTRATION Having seen the collapse of governments and corporations, Vendetta organizes itself in as directly democratic a structure as is possible. This is more plausible for our organization since we are more of a central hub and market than resource collaboration. As of now we are looking for two levels of membership. Simple membership is for those who want to get involved in the action and be called up for mercenary missions where you know that the action is in some way just. Leadership is reserved for those who are more interested in having the training and desire to act as leaders of defensive and retributive missions. Leardership will also include those interested in developing stealth, speed, and targeted attack technologies. To apply for leadership, just let leadership know you want to be involved. Together we will decide more defined organizational structure in line with these goals once more is known about the Rights system. Are there game mechanics, in place or to be created, which makes it possible to be an "undeclared" member of your "Primary" Organization while at the SAME time being a "declared" member of another? For covert operations of course! Can we ever REALLY know who we're Recruiting... Perhaps requiring Organizations to pay a DAC fee (call it a Black Ops fee) for each operative that if not paid would make their operatives easier to discover -- hmm, a Black Ops budget! Any other ideas circulating out there where having a DAC fee imposed on an Organization would add flavor to the game?

  8. Welcome Prospective Players! Dual Universe provides players with a unique opportunity to create a universe completely made and designed by our own choices and decisions. Through such processes as territory control, a player-driven economy and editable surroundings, we can now interact with the world in an unprecedented way and we at Astralis Industries (ASI) intend to take full advantage of that! What Is Astralis Industries?Astralis Industries will represent an in-game company that will take full advantage of the player-driven economy and blueprint system. Working together with each and every member to create a unique environment where each members talent and ingenuity can add to the company's overall success. Focus: Astralis Industries will primarily focus on construct (ship, station, city, probes, drones....etc) construction and programming to design and showcase the most advanced constructs in the game. By creating unique ships that will be used by all types of organizations across the galaxy, we will be able to watch as the face of both Military and Civilian work changes based on the ships Astralis Industries releases to the market. This construction will require many different parts of our organization to work in concert with each other in order to make our designs a success! Mining: Ship construction, testing and eventual mass production will require large amounts of resources to perform. This means that our efforts in discovering and gathering precious minerals will be of top priority during all stages of the game. This will be the backbone of our company as we would like to maintain control of where we get our resources from to build all of our constructs. Trading: As we expand and begin to mass produce our ships in between release cycles, we will need talented individuals to take up the call to take sold ships to their respective buyers. Traders will also be the backbone of our resource transportation fleet, especially during testing and construction. Combat: According to the developer there will be 2 types of combat FPS and Ship-to-Ship, we will need to take advantage of the best of both to set ourselves above the rest and protect our assets. As we grow and expand, its going to be important to watch over individuals/groups as they go out and explore the planets we find ourselves on. We will need to not only protect our explorers but also defend our secrets and protect our assets as we develop into a more profitable company. Through this, combat will play an important role in all aspects and through all phases of the game as we begin to establish ourselves as one of the dominate organizations in the galaxy. Testing: These pilots would be the first to receive our top-of-the-line ships straight out of the drawing board and would ensure that what we produce is of the highest quality. Testing all systems aboard the ship from flight mechanics, to the custom scripts programmed onto them. GoalsAstralis Industries ultimate goal is to create an organization that has a large impact in the in-game economy and can provide for its members, the fees required to pay for the subscription. I know this is a far off goal, but I believe working together, with all the above in mind, we can achieve this and have an awesome time in-game. Which in turn will help us create and run events that cater to each of our members. ** None of these are final and don't represent you locking in a role, you can play however you want no matter what you choose, but will help us create fun events and projects around what people like to play ** Roles: Builder: As you can imagine this person would love to just be let loose on an area to build a base/city/spaceport. Ship Designer: This person loves the concept of designing ships that could potentially be used by all sorts of differing organizations. Miner: Resources are required for everything we do, and some people (Including myself) enjoy this type of game play. Search for and finding the rarest resources and having the satisfaction to look at a ship or building and know that "I'm the reason we were able to build this" . Combat (FPS): According to the developer there will be 2 types of combat and the first of which is FPS style. This person is going to focus on watching over individuals/groups as they go out and explore the planets we find ourselves on. They will be our champions and protectors as we journey out among the stars. Showing our strength when necessary and being the shield and that protects us. Combat (Ship): The second type of combat in DU is supposedly, EVE-esq ship-to-ship combat. These individuals will make up the backbone of our fleet. Commanding our ships and organizing large scale campaigns in times of crisis. Understanding that though we are a company at heart, we will not shy away from battle. Offshoot Roles: Programmer: One of the unique abilities offered by DU is the ability to program our ships and structures to be able to do custom actions that aren't native to the game. As a result, having individuals who would love to test out different defensive and offensive programs as well as potentially passive (mining drones, etc..) programs, will help Astralis Industries stand above the rest. Traders: I'm going to be honest, I love trading! However, i'm not entirely sure how it will work in DU and what infrastructure will be in place to support this occupation. Regardless, in whatever facet trading will exist, we will support those who, like myself, love the idea of transporting goods to our partners. Being quick and flexible about delivery runs as well as maintaining diplomatic partnerships throughout all trade deals. Policy/Governance: To be honest, I was hesitant putting this one in. But the territory control and organization structure, offer a unique opportunity for players to dictate and enforce policies and govern controlled territories differently. Due to this mechanic, i'm going to classify this as one you can pair with your primary choice. I'm also opening it up to a broader meaning, in that it will stand for the player's desire to work towards a leadership position. Again, I want to make sure that anyone potentially looking to applying to Astralis Industries understands that these are not roles that you are locking in, but roles that will give us an idea of what the majority of players will want to play and allow us to create and run events that cater to these choices. Drama: Certain populous organizations and their legate have been concocting rumors about COPS. Legates from other some what populous organizations have made assumptions about COPS and presented these as facts. In every case these people are wrong and only serve to create drama. If you intend to fly in a ship, once you are out of the ark safe zone, pvp will happen. We intend to create smart ship designs that will help to ensure pvp victories, but you will need to know how to fly it. • PVE: We know some people have no interest in PVP. Hopefully we can get a civilization started with trade, harvesters, crafters etc. It’s good to have folks who specialize in these categories. • Exploring: It’s at the heart of Dual Universe, of course we will explore! • If i can be done in Dual, we intend on experiencing that content in one way or another. GOVERNMENT: Don’t really intend on having some massive over inflated group of power hungry people running the show. I have no interest in that, however there does need to be a head or some form. Castles have kings, homes have breadwinners. Even a pack of wolves looks to their Alpha. I intend on holding the main key of power or have it distributed among a very close group of friends. Those who know me know I fight tooth and nail for the little guy, for honesty and integrity. I have no intent on telling you how to play or what to do...but internal conflicts will occur and those will need to be resolved. A free trade zone- As stated in the Charter, members of the United Systems of Humanity may trade freely with one another without tariffs or customs placed on the cargo.   13. Hello and good day fellow DU Pioneer With this topic i'd like to introduce the Society Observing Universal Life. A less complicated connection for people who want to focus more on gameplay and not administrating some corporation, organization, or any sort of order with rank and privileges. Instead of privileges and authority which many others have, you will be pleased by being free from such burdens. Soul will not be an anarchy, hierarchy, monrachy nor any capitalism, theocracy or anything like that. If you need anything to compare it could be called anarchy or more likely equalism. Yes there will be members who do some chores for SOUL but that is all voluntary and all are free to do so as well or never engage in chores. Only two easy rules: 1. Treat members as equals and remain neutral to the Universe, you are free to do what you do on your own responsibility. 2. Attend the meetings which are neither regular, nor are only announced by officials. Every member will have authority to call for meetings. (Will be further explained for members) There is no requirement for joining, but since some roleplayers tend to do funny things ill elaborate a few details: a.) In case you are part of a rival faction of another members faction, it is in your own interest to treat each other equally and not as enemys unless you are in a battlefield fighting for your faction. Meaning if you do fight eachother, it will not be as members of SOUL. So when you two are alone and not on orders by your other factions superior, its rational to treat eachother as SOUL members. b.) Should your intention for joining be the gathering of information (spying, eavesdropping, etc.) you are free to do so, as a neutral and free group it may also be possible that members will be trying to help or sabotage your activity. Meaning that we do not care about spys in our midst. Since DU is still in progress and undergoing changes, so is it possible that SOUL will change.
