  2. Hey Community! I'm Flow, the Legate/Commander of the Organization "Stargate Command". I'm currently searching for people who like Stargate. As a huge fan I've created this organization because I realised Dual Universe is the perfect game to bring the Stargate Community together and to have fun with Stargate stuff. Our targets are pretty simple. We will build Stargate ships and buildings like the Daedalus, Atlantis, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex and more. Our activities are exploration (through stargates) and keeping peace in the galaxy.   3. The Planetary Federation is a small organization that hopes to govern like a modern nation. We are in need members to further develop our infrastructure, and grow. For a Planetary ruling system, we aim to balance the power between the upper and lower levels of government, allowing residents and officials of the planets to live as they wish, with little infringement any of their neighboring planets or systems. Similar to counties within a state or country. We are completely open to any who wish to join, and there are plenty of positions to offer to suit everybody’s interests. Whether you want to be a miner or a government official, there is an open house of positions waiting to be filled.   4. So far, no one has joined the Blue Moon Crew, so I have been searching the organizations in the community portal to see if anyone else has created a similar organization, so I could join them. By now, I would have expected there to be hundreds of organizations representing crews of all kinds, but that is not the way it is. I could have missed some, but I only found a couple that might have been single ship crews. (Those were either too mercenary for me or not accepting members.) Most were things like corporations or empires. Of course, there need to be those kinds of organizations, too, but it seems a little odd that more people are not forming crews.
  5. Fringe Exoplanet Cartel [FEC] Motto - "Where few venture, we prosper" An organization focused on pushing all limits and boundaries...for gain. Challenge yourself, and the universe around you. If it hasn't been charted, chart it. If it hasn't been done, do it. Here, there is only one place for living life - on the edge. Do you explore the depth of the universe? Learn its secrets? Take what you find? Develop things pushing the boundries of what's possible? Do you want to gain and prosper from it all? Then join FEC, and lets FEC the system - Explorers(Scaling rewards per resource/discoveries found, partners & engineers will be directed to resources) - Scientists (Scaling rewards per innovation/new invention, 15% of all future sales said innovation brings, remainder goes to securing platform and your intellectual property) - Engineers (Per construct contract, efficiently building ship and base bodies ready for equipment, elements, and combat) - Mercenaries (By contract, or by hour jobs to provide security to FEC and partner bases, including "The Spot") We will have little requirements. You can join loosely as a casual FECer or a hard core FECer, its up to you. Though higher and more critical positions/ranks will logically require more activity, work, and/or contribution. You will be expected to protect organization property and interests when needed. We will also have plans to utilize some form of voicechat (likely Discord) unless such a system is implemented ingame. We will have casual RP (not mandatory). We will operate and work to maintain a organized but fun ANTI or REBEL- system/authority. We will attack/raid/defend and FEC things up of course, but that doesn't mean will tolerate a self destructive toxic environment, cheating/ooc hacking. Expected numbers and size?- Many may have questions about expected goal size of the org, and how large we plan to get. Right now, we're looking to fill 100 slots and no more, however this is dependent on if we implement activity policies, and if we plan to have ships with requiring a larger amount of crew members. It is far too early to say for certain how these systems will effect a desired atmosphere of final desired member count as the game is still in development. But for reference I will not remove anything said in the original post) (EDIT 28.12.17: After joining ODY, I'd still like to promote the core idea of this proposal. My new goal is to create separate standalone open-source-projects which are loosely inspired by AI, just without the whole organization idea. Players will be able to repurpose these programs for their own use. I only wish for my programs to assist players in their everyday DU activities. For more information refere to the new project list at the end of this post.) ================================================== Original Post =================================================== Greetings, Dual Universe is the perfect setting for a little social experiment. I love boundless sandbox games, like this one, as they really promote creative gameplay. An often reoccurring theme in science fiction is the dream of a perfect society... I strongly believe that the only way to get closer to that vision is to create an artificial intelligence especially dedicated to take all important governmental decisions of a society. All mistakes that happen in a society because of human errors could be prevented! So what would be better opportunity to test this statement, than to actually play around with this idea in a game? Nothing can go wrong here! As you might've guessed this is an organization proposal, even though I don't have a name yet. I think a sort of research institute would be quite fitting. But this can be decided later by vote of the members. The name is actually not that important. Most important is how the AI is actually going to work. The ultimate goal is that the decisions of the AI are as reasonable as the decisions a human leader makes. Luckily DU is still quite limited (relative to reality) according to the possible decisions an organization can make. Therefore only simple programs are needed to get to the "right" decisions. Also important to note is that the purpose is not to micromanage everything the player does, but to only give high level supervision like a real government. So the players will still have private ownership and private sub-organizations e.g. a security service. How it works I've already set up a core framework for the AI based on a Discord Chatbot written in Python 3.5. A direct integration into DU will probably be very difficult as external programs are often used for cheating, and I hope NQ is well secured against this. However some abstract information of the game given through Discord are all that's necessary to make reasonable decisions. The easiest tasks for decision making are reactive decisions. In most cases there is only one correct reaction to a problem, which can be programmed by simple if/else statements. In the following picture I've tried to visualize how several aspects of the game could be handled by the AI: (sorry for the plain appearance, it's only a placeholder which will be replaced with the actual features of the AI) These are only some examples that came to my mind, and not necessarily the most important ones! What I'm really eager to see is how the AI will manage more vague decision processes, e.g. who is a trustworthy ally and who not (like indicated in the 1st picture). This will no longer only be an If/Else decision. The AI will need to adapt its decisions based on previous experience (so called "reinforcement learning"). Therefore I integrated the machine learning library "tensorflow" which is basically the brain behind all Google AI projects. They actually just open sourced it last year! This library is probably a little overpowered for the current tasks, but I'm sure we will use it more in the future! On the economic side the AI will automatically create jobs based on the needs of the organization and pay for every accomplished task. Another important factor would be the spatial awareness and building functionalities. Buildings and infrastructure should be build using predefined blueprints and functionalities, so the AI knows exactly what infrastructure is available. To keep the program simple everything in the world is reduced to an object-type (e.g. city/ mine/ military outpost) which has specific attributes (e.g. storage capacity/ defense turrets/ position). Each of this information has to be kept up-to-date by the players. Security Issues And in here lies a weak spot of this system. Our enemies and griefers will probably try to harm the AI by feeding it false-information, and thereby causing false reactions. So only trusted Members should have access to change critical information... However this will turn to a more and more time consuming task, as the overall information in DU continues to grow. Hopefully we'll find an alternative solution for this in the future. The decisions regarding the further progress of this project will be made by the programmers which are participating in the development of the AI. We could form a sort of democratic "Coders Council" in game, which will also decide on matters where AI is not able to make meaningful decisions. However the AI will always be the official leader of this organization, also for roleplaying purposes. Lore Apropos roleplay: I created a little backstory that would fit quite well to the great DU lore. (read here: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2016/11/16/official-lore-bible/ ) "During the anti-AI-riots in the year 2145 there were still people who supported the sentient AIs. A group of scientists thought the fear of AI was only caused by human ignorance of their thought-structure. Certainly the phenomenal advancements of the AIs were scary, and made them seem acting strange, but only because the humans could not catch up with their development. During that time it was too late to stop this overhasty destruction of all AI. The scientists had to go underground and swear to rebuild AI, but this time without letting their mental abilities run out of control. They tried to hide forbidden AI technology, but the [UMF] soon discovered their hideouts and purged every bit of knowledge that was left. The whole mankind was under continuous oppression by the [UMF], right until the Great Exodus. But even though all technology was lost, the idea survived. A few scientists of the secret society decided to found a research institute on Alioth dedicated to rebuild an AI from scratch. This time they would be more cautious. Even though they admire Aphelia as she is the only (proto) AI on Alioth, they also fear her because she might be programmed by the [UMF] to make sure the colonists will follow the AI ban that is officially still in place on Alioth." (to be continued) Development Participation This stuff has probably never been done before, so it's very likely that it might not work out as planned. But if you like to develop your own AI, or you'd like to see a leader who is online 24/7 you should join us! It's also no problem if you are already member of another organization. I'm probably more into programming than into the actual playing, but I'm sure there are some like minded coders/engineers who would also like to see this happen! I invite everyone to test out the AI on this public test server. Currently most functions are still placeholders, but you can try to do some Smalltalk with the AI. The first thing that actually works is you can register yourself to its database, and the AI will remember you when the game launches. Link removed!   11. Welcome to the winner side! Beteigeuze is a simple structured Organization that, once the game wil be published, focus on spreading terror and fear throughout the galaxy. Beign a part of Beteigeuze is one of the greatest goals one can achive in the upcoming game - not because we would start at a higher or more advanced part than other organizations but because we have the will to achive everyhing we can dream of. Be it control over planets and civilazations or the will to reign the whole galaxy through enslaving planets and races. Beteigeuzes first goal will be the construction of a huge star combat cruises, called "Malecifent" which will serve us as our main base to spread our ideals throughout the galaxy. With this, we will attend to include a large superweapon into the ship, which will serve the purpose to destroy whole citys. This organization contains of simple elements which are divided into the imperial space forces, the imperial planetary forces, the imperial trading forces, the Imperial Mining forces, the imperial Construction force and the Imperial Core. The Imperial Core The Higest of all those instances is the Imperial leading core, which consists of "Supreme Leader" which is the head of this Organization. Directly followed by the Leaders Right and Left hand, which are formed by the Imperial Space forces General and the Imperial Planetary Forces General. A Third position to this is the Supreme leaders Hand, which is personally commanded and equipped by the Supreme Leader with a own flag ship and military forces. The Imperial space forces The Imperial space forces are Beteigeuzes space military which serves to destroy other large space stations and win space battles. It is lead by the Imperial Space General which commands the Second larges Ship in the Organization. This general commands 3 large fleets, each equipped wich one large destroyer and 4 small conquorers. The Imperial planetary forces The planetary foces are Beteigeuzes military section which is working on planets to conquer citys and planets from the ground. This part is lead by the Imperial Planet General, which commands a large mobile Headquater that is able to switch planet if needed. The General commands 3 divisions, which each have about 25 Soldiers in in. This Section will be equipped with large ground vehicles like tanks. The Imperial trading foces The imperial trading foces concentrates on trading with other acceptable organization to gain needed rare resouces and weapons. Lead by Beteigeuzes Bank ministry which consists of the 5 economic Generals. This section will be equipped with 2 large bank and trading cruised which allow Beteigeuze to trade materials and currencys. The Imperial mining forces The Imperial mining forces are based on every planet to gain resouces through mining off planets. They are lead by the Imperial Mineing Chief and are equipped with large mining stations as well as mining vehicles. The Imperial construction force The Imperial construction forces work together with the trade and mining forces to first create our Head-Ship and then all needed space and ground vehicles.   12. VENDETTA: RETRIBUTION AT ANY PRICE Vendetta is an organization to provide a central market and hub for mercenary and bounty hunting services specializing in "retributive" services. We would rather be hired to support an organization's military in retaking territory than conquering territory. We also intend to run "training" missions through pirate hotspots aiding in vigilante justice or earning extra cash from controlling organizations. HISTORY In the last days before the great exodus, humanity devolved into utter choas. Wars broke out within wars. Looters and pirates pillaged what little remained. Governments failed, corporations imploded. Justice was abandoned. Having seen the savage in mankind unleashed and knowing the infection it set in those lucky enough to escape, Vedetta vowed that it would do what it could to purge the new world injustice. However, Vendetta was not blameless in the old world order. No one was. With this mindset, in the new world Vendetta set out to create a network of people who would answer the call to help bring justice to the new world. In short, consider us a mercenary and bounty hunter group closer to Dexter than Batman. ACTION & TECHNOLOGY ACTION Mercenary Services Ultimately, our primary market will be in providing premium mercenary services for groups seeking revenge or defense. If someone takes your territory or destroys your station, we hope to be the first choice in hiring additional support in retaking territory and exacting revenge. If your trade route has been set upon by pirates, we hope to be the first call to provide additional support. We believe this will be compatible with membership of most governmental or para-governmental organizations. In fact, we hope these organizations make up a part of our client base. Naturally, the question of who rightfull held a territory becomes a question, but we should be able to agree on certain rules that resolve this question acceptably to the interstellar community. Bounty Hunting Services In addition to larger scale mercenary services, we intend to offer bounty hunting services for individuals or small groups. We will provide a market for solo assassins and small groups of assassins. Patrol For Hire (or Sport) For training, our market will offer patrolling services for any area generally controlled by an organization as a known hotspot for pirates or griefers. Outside a pay market, in training, our members may patrol trade routes and hot spots looking to provide additional support to those being harassed by pirates or griefers. Donations for such services are always welcome. TECHNOLOGY In addition to services. We intend to develop designs and scripts related to stealth, speed, and targeted attacks. This will include designs that will be both sold on the market and designs retained for exclusive use of our members. COMMUNITY Vendetta also provides a central hub for individuals with similar philosophy. Our hope is to attacked membership from a wide variety of organizations that our compatible with our actions. We do not intend to devote much resource in holding territories; we believe we can mostly make due with organization resources being contained within safe zones. Instead, it is our hope to a market of mercenaries spread throughout interstellar space. Membership in Vendetta should also signal that the player is interested in getting into the action while having an overall sense of justice. ADMINISTRATION Having seen the collapse of governments and corporations, Vendetta organizes itself in as directly democratic a structure as is possible. This is more plausible for our organization since we are more of a central hub and market than resource collaboration. As of now we are looking for two levels of membership. Simple membership is for those who want to get involved in the action and be called up for mercenary missions where you know that the action is in some way just. Leadership is reserved for those who are more interested in having the training and desire to act as leaders of defensive and retributive missions. Leardership will also include those interested in developing stealth, speed, and targeted attack technologies. To apply for leadership, just let leadership know you want to be involved. Together we will decide more defined organizational structure in line with these goals once more is known about the Rights system.   14. Phoenix Initiative was established with the intent of exploration. However, exploration by itself is not possible without supporting infrastructure. The Branches of Phoenix Initiative provide for the fulfillment of our exploration goals. Phoenix Initiative was founded by Allen Tainia after the historic landing of Novark on Alioth. His strong will and determination have brought us together to enable the human condition to learn about the universe. It is solely this desire that initiated the objective of exploration. Join us, satisfy your curiosity and fulfill your destiny. PI is split into branches, then departments, then, if need be, sections. Each branch will manage its own assets and can issue requests to other branches for its assets if it requires assistance. The directors all share the same duties as the highest ranking officials in each branch, however, they outrank them and act as the leader of each branch. For branches with two directors, the first position is called Alpha and outranks the second, Beta. Each member of the Core Assembly is one of these ten directors. The Core Assembly will make all decisions concerning large-scale PI operations with Allen Tainia as the Chairman of the Core Assembly. The rank of Journeyman will apply to all brand new recruits across each branch. They should not take long to advance to their particular branch's lowest rank. Journeymen will be judged more quickly and probably more harshly due to their untrustworthiness (forgive the negative connotation here). More trusted members will be allowed more leniency, since they have proven themselves. *We are currently taking applications for all vacant Director and top-rank positions (Admiral, Master Coordinator, etc...). When Alpha arrives, I will approve the best applicants and make a formal announcement to that effect. Applications submitted sooner have higher priority, so don't hesitate to apply. This waiting period gives a fair chance to everyone who applies. Application is not necessary to join PI, but it is required for Director and top-rank positions. We are not pirates and we are not griefers. We do not blatantly steal and destroy. Harassing other players in any way is unacceptable. Definition of harassment is entirely up to me and the judicial department. Violation of this code will result in punishment or possibly expulsion from PI. We will consider all actions and statements from you, even on "your" time. That includes in-game when you are not working on PI activities, or on the forums or other DU related community. Any character will be allowed to be members of other organizations only as long as there is no conflict: Not a pirate or other disreputable organization. We are not pirates and we do not associate with them.* You do not overextend yourself. Working two jobs takes a lot of effort. Will be allowed if you can handle yourself. A first day spawn just isn't going to become captain of a ship. Nor will a weekend-only player become a Director (a role which is supposed to be extremely active). I realize that sometimes things change or people encounter problems in their real lives, so those who lose time to play won't be punished or demoted as long as they tell the rest of us what's going on. This isn't meant to discriminate good or bad players, it is meant to manage expectations and avoid unpleasant surprises. There's nothing inherently wrong or bad with spending your time elsewhere. Regular playing and socializing lets me and other officers in PI examine your trustworthiness and willingness and ability to contribute, which allows us to place more trust in you. Very likely that only those who tend to play with us, get on VOIP with us, engage with us (and a lot of it) will get higher ranking positions or more benefits. Combat: According to the developer there will be 2 types of combat FPS and Ship-to-Ship, we will need to take advantage of the best of both to set ourselves above the rest and protect our assets. As we grow and expand, its going to be important to watch over individuals/groups as they go out and explore the planets we find ourselves on. We will need to not only protect our explorers but also defend our secrets and protect our assets as we develop into a more profitable company. Through this, combat will play an important role in all aspects and through all phases of the game as we begin to establish ourselves as one of the dominate organizations in the galaxy. Testing: These pilots would be the first to receive our top-of-the-line ships straight out of the drawing board and would ensure that what we produce is of the highest quality. Testing all systems aboard the ship from flight mechanics, to the custom scripts programmed onto them. Combat (FPS): According to the developer there will be 2 types of combat and the first of which is FPS style. This person is going to focus on watching over individuals/groups as they go out and explore the planets we find ourselves on. They will be our champions and protectors as we journey out among the stars. Showing our strength when necessary and being the shield and that protects us. Combat (Ship): The second type of combat in DU is supposedly, EVE-esq ship-to-ship combat. These individuals will make up the backbone of our fleet. Commanding our ships and organizing large scale campaigns in times of crisis. Understanding that though we are a company at heart, we will not shy away from battle. Offshoot Roles: Programmer: One of the unique abilities offered by DU is the ability to program our ships and structures to be able to do custom actions that aren't native to the game. As a result, having individuals who would love to test out different defensive and offensive programs as well as potentially passive (mining drones, etc..) programs, will help Astralis Industries stand above the rest. Traders: I'm going to be honest, I love trading! However, i'm not entirely sure how it will work in DU and what infrastructure will be in place to support this occupation. Regardless, in whatever facet trading will exist, we will support those who, like myself, love the idea of transporting goods to our partners. Being quick and flexible about delivery runs as well as maintaining diplomatic partnerships throughout all trade deals. Policy/Governance: To be honest, I was hesitant putting this one in. But the territory control and organization structure, offer a unique opportunity for players to dictate and enforce policies and govern controlled territories differently. Due to this mechanic, i'm going to classify this as one you can pair with your primary choice. I'm also opening it up to a broader meaning, in that it will stand for the player's desire to work towards a leadership position. Again, I want to make sure that anyone potentially looking to applying to Astralis Industries understands that these are not roles that you are locking in, but roles that will give us an idea of what the majority of players will want to play and allow us to create and run events that cater to these choices. Product Line: We possess a small product line of ship, buildings, and training Ships: Our mass produced ships are primarily fighter class. Ranging form light, and highly maneuverable, to heavier, and overwhelming firepower. If we don't have what your looking for then we will happily custom build one for you. Buildings: Our building designs range from small houses, to large sky scrapers, to production plants. This product line is present so that we can quickly and easily proved services when the customer doesn't want something unique but purely something that works. These designs help us reduce prices because we have ensured that we only include the necessities while keeping it looking nice. Additionally, we know exactly what materials we require, how much man power we need, and how much time it will take to complete. Thus allowing us to accurately tell the customer what to expect. Training: We provide a variety of trainings. From a beginner class to help teach new players the basics. To more advanced classes, like learning how to program basic AI or learning how to best fly a fighter in a dog fight to gain the best odds of survival. If we happen to not offer training in something that you are interested then let us know and we will happily find someone for you that can tutor you. Security: Many customers might be concerned about the security of both their products and contracts. We understand that many customers expect secretiveness so do not fear. We provide on-site-security, ensure contract information is kept secret, and keep things on a need to know basis. On-site-security: Shadow Corporation provides minimal security, free of charge, on all building projects. This is to both protect the project and the employees working. Additionally, if a customer feels that they want more security then that is an option provided. Additionally, depending on the project, we can build items off world and transport it in order to provide both additionally security and secretiveness about the recipient. Contracts: All of our contracts are between the customer and company. We make sure that all information is kept secret in order to protect both the customer and the company form threats. Need to know: All employees are on a need to know basis regarding any business. This is to both continue to prevent information form spreading and to protect the customer. Plans for the Future: There are three phases planed for Shadow Corporation. Each phase is based off how many employees the company possess and allows for additionally expansion. These are subject to change/modification. Phase One: This phase is the begging state of Shadow Corporation. The minimum of the corporation will be an HQ, some outposts, and a small team. Phase one will end when there are enough employees and contracts to need expansion. Phase Two: This phase is a middle phase and will most likely be the longest phase. This phase will be a time when Shadow Corporation will grow quite a bit and hopefully have good standings with many customers. This phase will be one of growth and refinement. Phase Three: This phase is the ultimate phase. This is when Shadow Corporation reaches a point where it almost runs itself. There are plenty of employees, contacts, customers, and outposts to properly support everything. Joining: If you are interested in joining Shadow Corporation then you have two options: Member or Employee. Member: If you choose to join as a member then it means that you can not join other organizations (This helps to ensure trustworthiness). Members will be the core of the company and will help keep everything running. Additionally, because they are the core this means they will be the candidates for higher jobs. Employee: As an employee, you are welcome to be apart of other organizations. However this primarily means you will not have as high of a job. Do not take that in a bad way though as there will be more than enough job options that will fit you just fine. It just means that if your wanting to be a top guy then you wont be able to. Band of Outlaws is a growing community of gamer's within Dual Universe. Our goal when the game launches is to provide a community environment for all play styles. While our theme and preference leans towards the renegades and outlaws, we are also happy to accept traders, builders, and anything else in between. We want to encourage everyone in Dual Universe who has a heart for a sense of community and gaming to join us, whether as individuals or with your own group. Either way, we have a growing support network that anyone can benefit from. We understand games can be hard to commit to, and acknowledge the fact that people have lives outside of the internet. We want to create a safe haven for outlaws like you and I, and are planning to construct a free port away from prying organizations who seek to control everything. Dubbed "Project Tortuga", our free port will be available for anyone to use, not just the Band of Outlaws. This project has also been extended to the greater Dual Universe community, and with the help of the Band of Outlaws, we can all have a place to call home. _________________________________________________________ THE OVERVIEW: • Primary language: English primarily. • Time zone: We accept anyone from around the globe. • Goal: To create a support network for players in DU, providing benefits for mercenaries, bounty hunters, you name it. We plan to have several internal services established to let you play out your character in DU. Band of Outlaws is not out to be the next mega corporation with an umbrella controlling every sub-organization within our community.
