  1. Ok so there may be posts or other places where this is discussed, but I need to say it. I am aware this is a beta game. Duh. However, the state of PVP is just ridiculous. I cannot be the only one who feels like this. It feels like we are playing a 1995 tanks game where they cannot handle the intricacies of visual combat. I would love a Elite Dangerous type play to the game. That game has been around since the late 80's, yes it was wire frame ships and all but you still got a better combat feeling than this game gives. There is no joy of manually firing a gun, no sub-system targeting, and letting your guns have at it. No targeting the engines so they cannot escape, no aiming for the shield generator so they cannot cycle the shields. No maneuvering and circling to get the best shots. It's aim at the core and pray your ship holds together while you trade fire. It's stagnant game play. The Core Combat Stress system is a step, a very teeny-tiny step in the right direction. But loosen up NQ, you want a Sandbox game, cool cool we can dig it. You want a PvP game, great! MAKE THE COMBAT WORTH OUR TIME!! Make the player in the fighter feel his terror at being shot at by a capital ship, make it so the gunners onboard a battleship feel and see the damage he does. Make the warfare feel like combat, and when you guys go to do the Construct vs Base/tile warfare listen to the community. Don't give this up!! You guys have a niche in the world we never thought could be filled but remember gamers are fickle, we have needs. We crave the violence and destruction as much as we crave the building of the ships, tanks, and jets to do it.
  2. Hi there, Long time fan and player since the last alpha. Let me start out by saying this game has so much potential and is already in a fairly enjoyable and playable state. I don't want to comment on stuff like performance and bug fixes since many have pointed this out already and I think DU staff have their priorities on getting this on-rails asap. I want to talk about communication mostly, and immersion, and I get the second subject might be a bit further down the line: Communication - critique: One of the things I always think impacts general interest in a game and keeps players peeking for updates, especially alpha/beta or early releases, is clear and open communication and roadmaps. Now, I know there is a roadmap, but I want to be frank about this; it doesn't do a good job of peaking my interest. Its vague, incomplete and simply all over the place. Even the implementation of the poll-system, while a very good addition, isn't cutting it. Communication - solution: I believe the roadmap should be a lot more detailed and divided into short, mid and long term. On the short term there should be details about implementations in the upcoming weeks, with dates!; think of gameplay tweaks, bug fixes, small gameplay additions etc. On the mid-term, say months, there should be a list of upcoming implementations of small to medium systems/gameplay additions/graphical updates. And on the long-term you can keep the descriptions as you have them now in the roadmap, with focus on big changes and implementations, add-ons and serious gameplay changes. All-in-all, there needs to be a better grasp of what the team is focusing on. To take it to another level, if you're working in a scrum kind of way, just share the sprints as short-term roadmaps (just an idea). And all of these need to be realistic, the more you need to push stuff backwards, the more you create a backlog and frustration with the players. Its better to start with small increments and deliver, than vice-versa. Its difficult to assess what you guys/girls are working on back there, while that has many people very excited as well if they knew. Immersion - feedback: I'll keep this one shorter, but after playing the game for a LOT of hours in the past months, it has come to my attention that a lot is missing in the game which should create more immersion. This is mostly small stuff: sound effects mostly, but also visual effects (like the missing animations of industry)... The galaxy and planets feel deserted, even with the amount of players flying around. Its just not... alive. And there should be random stuff happening... nothing major perse. Just my 2 cents that I had in the back of my head and needed to write off. See you in game!
  3. Hi Noveans, Just wanted to reach out and ask some general questions regarding DU. I took a look around and did not find exact responses to similar questions and would like to bump this up for new players and those considering pledging (like myself). Please excuse any redundancies to previous threads/topics/discussions. 1. I have been interested in pledging Patron - Is this too much to spend on the current & foreseeable available content? 2. I enjoy games like Minecraft, NMS(surprise!), and Astroneer. I actually did not enjoy EVE Online, Star Conflict, and some similar games as they became too overwhelming. Is this right for me? 3. In its current stage, especially as a p2p model, is there any downtime/restricted access periods that I should be looking out for? 4. Like I previously mentioned, I do enjoy open world building games where I can mostly be isolated to building large structures/ships. However, when I am fatigued from that - can I find cities, towns, space ships, space colonies, & other more cosmopolitan things to explore? 5. I love the FUNCTIONAL building aspect, I support others in there different & interesting interpretations of space and how it should be colonized. Does this game have a potential for us to live in each others creations? Routinely rely on player based cities, ships & so on? Its possible this question can be tied into 4. But the spacefaring explorer in me had to ask! 6. Finally, this single shard expanse, is it well populated? Or am I to find myself in another rendition of NMS? Again, I appreciate the time any of you take to go through this with me. After countless hours of scouring youtube for gameplay video and commentary, I have found the answers to these questions outstanding. Although I could always be wrong and not have looked hard enough! All the best! Doob.

  5. Okay so imagine you are a moderator / developer for the game right. Your job is to go and search the forums for anything interesting about the game, maybe a golden idea the team hasn't thought of. Great - so now try going through the forums to see how many of the posts are relevant. So just how many of the comments on some interesting posts have good content? Go on, have a look. To those of you out there that are posting so you can get your count up, just give at least some contribution to the discussion. Yea some banter and chat is fine though there is nothing stopping you from taking your conversations elsewhere.
