I know csyn seems like an alliance. And perhaps to some degree you could think of it like an npc empire from eve. But it exists so the real orgs. The dua, tu, ody, can play together and against each other.

I can't know the full extent and openness each individual member org will have I'm their space. So I don't know if all hubs will be publicly available.

Emberstone is special. While Cinderfall will be the controlling governance. I want to connect with as many people as possible. The outfit, boo, acs, empire , individuals, all the csyn orgs, SilverLight etc. To have access to advertisements that noobs will see as they go around the city.

Idk if the billboard element well suffice. Or if well have to do physical manipulation of voxels to make recruitment art in 3d. But everyone can benefit from this.
It'll be as big as we need to have a market, social gathering places, several themed areas of the city from goody goody areas to the shadowy dastards crag. The basic experience area for da newbies.
Yeah we will have to push the envelope of what's possible from the tools they give us, bend the intended uses of the rdms to create a place for vets to chill. And newbies to figure the game out.

I am a little overbearing and protective of it because it's my baby and I think it's good for the community if we all cooperate. Even if we're technical enemies at times. I see the people that laugh at the community building and say it's not important. That it will take care of itself, well that's not how I wanted to play I guess I'm at odds with them. I've seen what humanity does when nobody guides things towards positivity

Before I go ahead and make a more posts, I thought I would say hi. I am looking forward to this journey to the release of DU and beyond.

Also watch out for giant space squid. They will gulp us down when we least expect it. Sometimes they eat the brain first and leave the body standing around stupidly. Other times the body is snatched from very existence! They might even cause ships to fall from the sky! Beware!

Side Note: To clarify, I am just another player looking to make DU an even better place, not some giant squid worshipping organization (though if anyone is interested, drop me a PM). As a player from the southern tip of Africa, I expect to be the most affected by the "giant space squids" that go by the names of Latency, Lag and DC.

The eight rights of passage are like the 8 arms of the giant space squid: squishy and scary looking at first, but they can really grab and hold on if you get too close.

(Those other 2 appendages are the squids tentacles, I know they are easy to get wrong while running away screaming, at least in my experience.)

I think the kickstarter will be fine. What I really want is to get the partial character customization stretch goal. I think its hidden for now though, as long as the game continues on though all is good : )

The Cinderfall Syndicate have plans to set up a city (Emberstone) basically as soon as possible. People have been throwing around the idea of Alioth being a recruiting planet for the newbies eventually. I imagine organisations will offer people free spaceships and such in exchange for membership.

Technically the universe will be infinite (at least in the final release). However, expansion will be difficult enough that practically it could be many years before one would find it difficult to cross the colonised part of the galaxy. It might take more than the first day for anyone to have engines to get to space and possibly as long as a month before any organisation can start building a Stargate to travel to the first new system.

NQ have expressed interest in adding ruins and other things to provide small bits of lore across the universe, but they want most content to be player created. Both NMS and DU might have procedurally generated empty planets, but unlike in NMS we can turn those planets into Coruscant-like megacities if we please.

I would personally say that if you're building some enormous ship you can't really afford to lose while it's being built, contract a mercenary company to protect your construction site.

But aside from that, it will be possible (eventually) to build protective bubbles like the arkship, but they won't be indestructible. I have a feeling that Alioth, for example, will eventually be turned into a mostly bubble-covered noob-zone full of advertising for organisations.

JC has mentioned that they want to include stealth but no details so far. I hope it'll work for even smaller ships, I want to be able to cloak myself while carrying cargo through dangerous places.

There is a really simple response to all of the people with brand new forum accounts who come into these payment model threads complaining and expecting NovaQuark to suddenly drop all of their business plans because they don't want to pay a subscription fee like the rest of us.

Nobody is forcing anyone to play Dual Universe. If you don't want to pay to play, then move along, because that is very clearly something that is not going to change for a very long time.

The rest of us, however, will be enjoying the game.

Thanks, but I am sure it has already occurred them.

I would not be surprised if resource extraction was not permitted in safe zones -- only construction. Otherwise they'll quickly become cratered wastelands, which is hardly the initial impression you want to give new players.

The problem of people doing obnoxious things like building walls around the arcship to keep "immigrants" penned up, or disassembling your nice townhouse overnight, also needs to be considered. The fundamental problem in a citizen-policed anarchy is that bad actors can do damage much faster than good actors can build and repair, and if there is no legal system to resort to (or an equivalent set of rules enforced by the game engine), the only way to enforce contracts (business or social) is violence (ie: every mafia, ever).

And of course, in a MMO with semi-immortal characters and multiple accounts, violence is not a credible method of social control.

Considering the size of the Syndicate so far relative to every other organisation, and the fact that their largest competitor so far, BOO, are a purposeful group of pirates that want to establish their own lawless world, I will not be surprised if Emberstone becomes immediately established around the Arkship and after its initial construction mining and construction of the zone banned (via the RDMS). Establishing Alioth as a mostly peaceful recruiting planet shouldn't be especially difficult, but having NQ force the Arkship zones to be mine-free is overly restrictive. I say if people want to strip mine it into a canyon, let them do so.

Flying cities would theoretically be possible. In the early stages of the game, they might be very easy to create. However, I imagine the devs will put implementations against creating any flying city. I still want to try it, but maybe with a bit more of a limitation onto what can be done.

Although, I would be interested in creating floating cities on planets with less gravity. That sounds a bit more feasible and fun.

    •••The Pillars of the Federation•••

    A Military Alliance

The universe is a treacherous place. We at the Federation hold the belief that military strength and solidarity are critical to our members’ interests in the face of those who seek to violate them. Our Non-Aggression Pact and military cooperation are only part of Aeonian’s firm dedication to security.

    An Economic Syndicate

Operating an advanced and wide-reaching network of markets across the universe, the Aeonian Federation is a key player in the galactic economy. With additional banking and investment options available to members, the Federation unlocks the path to prosperity and financial security.

    A Visionary Pioneer

As a progressive, forward-thinking organization, the Aeonian Federation is always striving to do what has never been done before. We challenge the traditional “guild alliance” paradigm and emphasize the importance of member and organization sovereignty. We push the technical limits of what Dual Universe represents, undertaking bold enterprises such as Project Emberstone. Rest assured: there’s no such thing as “boring” at the Federation.

    A Community and Family

The Federation isn’t the typical dictatorship guild. Although we may appear large, we’re also a tight-knit family dedicated to player cohesion. With our revolutionary Nexus hubs (the ultimate social network) and frequent game nights, the Aeonian Federation offers the best of both worlds: the friendship of a small community and the security of a large, established organization.

    •••The Administration•••

In order to keep AFED running smoothly and its members happy and safe, the Syndicate employs a variety of structural techniques and facilities to ensure the integrity and continued existence of the Federation. These make up the Administration of the Aeonian Federation. Take a look below:

    Directorate

The legates of the Federation, there to maintain the integrity of the entire system.

    Magistratum

The legislative and judicial division, there to resolve internal conflicts/disputes, create internal policy, and oversee diplomatic relations.

    Grand Assembly

The collective assembly of the Aeonian Federation. Composed of representatives from each member organization as well as individual citizens, the Grand Assembly is a place of discussion between the members of the Federation, where actions and resolutions can be diplomatically discussed.

    Administration

All of the various other departments necessary to make the Federation function. Many valuable teams and departments are part of the Administration, including our Development Department, design teams, Defense Department, and Communications Department.

    •••The Verdict•••
