they said you will not get to choose one, because then it would make a way for players to teleport, choosing the one they are trying to get close to.  it was said the plan now is you go to the closest one.

Also they have already said that you cant trap someone like this as you will always have the ability to go to the ARC ship as an option like suicide.

What I am talking about is the ability to provide a service and make a profit from it, in a new system/planet that someone would want to spawn at rather than the closest one which might be pretty far. until they get their own built.  If they even decide to build one they might just prefer this service.

My original post shows their answer to the question I asked for the AMA event, that they are interested in it.  My point with this post was to open discussions on how to best implement it with out breaking the game.  As NQ stated they were open to discussion about it, which I took as community discussion.

They have not specifically stated that you can share these, as the dev blog makes it sound like it is hard coded(flagged) to only you.  Hence why I asked about this int he AMA,

Here is the  Dev Blog on how they work, and yes I understand this is not explicitly stated how they are going to work, but with all their dev blogs, this is what we as players have to go one, and their PLAN on how they plan on them working.  I don't consider a Dev Blog article a vaguely stated way they plan to make them work.

The Arc ship one is special as in everyone gets to use it, and it has an almost instant rest timer based on recharge power.  From the sounds of it, the one you build will have a timer based on how much power you send to it, and if it is recharging, then you skip it and go to the next closest one to spawn.

Kongou got a reaction from SHIZNIT in How hard (or easy) will it be to earn DAC?
No, DAC's should be a permanently immune item from theft. But I propose a counter argument(s) to all of this. Pick and choose pieces of each argument if that suits the outcome better NQ.

Make it so that the DAC item is only potent, or usable, on Alioth. Create a NPC on the arkship, that has a inventory for every player, and that is where they can store DAC's for free. Even if theyre potent in the entire universe, at least having a safe storage NPC should be doable? even with the current technical limitations?
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Keep the emphasis of emergent gameplay on the game itself, not on the RMT deterrent, or else we may as well attatch real life value to all the game currency and create a direct money market exchange. Where people can pour real life money in, or withdrawal real life money out, by proxy of the game currency.

Well, I propose finding a means to make the Ark Tokens, that are already to be found out in the public, a greater emphasis to turn peoples attention away from DAC's
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a second move I propose that we can make any variation of limits on the game currency market wallets. Either limits in transferring large quantities of funds, or actual limits on how much money you can hold in the market wallet.

By imposing a limit on the wallet, you would force people to convert some of their money into "physical" game goods. Raw ores / refined ores / valuable components. OR we could have an item as suggested by many, gold bars, or any various thing. Let us attach some tags to them, and there we go a viable alternative to the DAC's.

I can understand the concern of people having these DAC's out and about in circulation but they're not the magical, end all be all, item a small group of people want them to be. The emergent gameplay is actually just a code word for. I want to be able to steal DACs for game time.
Why cant you steal valuable things, and resell them and buy the DAC's with game currency like everyone else? Not everyone's gameplay styles can be favored over some others?

Do people think that because DAC's exist that Ark Tokens, 500,000 tons of raw iron, sneaking into an enemy hanger and hijacking a valuable ship, do they think that DAC's make irrelevant all the other possible emergent gameplay styles? In fact I almost go so far as to think that wrapping the whole game around these DAC's is counter progressive.
It hinders NQ's freedom to develop other interesting features into the game. This is why im opposed to them being a lootable item in play in the game field. Keep them restricted, and keep them just for their intended purpose of anti RMT, account security, and the viable choice for the free to play crowd.

We have Ark Tokens, a very valuable item, that must be found by exploring. And we could have other high value items to enable the sort of emergent game play people want. Let us not turn it into a war of real money economics with the DAC's.

Keeping the DAC's clean, and creating in game items with greater value than DAC's, will prevent the root fear that many have which is that DAC's can be used by some means to destabilize gameplay.

    ------
And above all, I ask of you everyone to let NQ devlop the game in a clean environment. This ruckus that exploded over this is pretty shameful on the community.

    This is pretty straightforward.

DAC is a RL cash-equivalent asset. Stealing it is RL theft. Allowing players to steal it would be a criminal activity on the part of NQ.

    Just say No.

Sorry NQ. I got carried away and forgot about the one post rule. After reading through, I stand by what I said.

I should add, I don't see what a DAC would be as a physical in-game item or why a character as opposed to a player would want one. They are meta-items by their nature and should be treated that way.

Emberstone, a big city on alioth for embassies, recruitment, markets, noobie pvp, gambling, and so much more.
A shuttle system from Emberstone to several key locations throughout the syndicate at large.

Building a ringworld, either a true Huygen style orbital around a planet or possible just some more modest ringworlds, well have to see whats both better looking and practical.

Operating and overseeing competetive and organized pvp in various fields. Ground based "battlegrounds", team fights, Team space fights and so forth.

I accept your desire that you think urging the game into a direction that you want is the right path, but its just one path of many.

the technology behind Dual Universe has been in the works from JC Baillie and his supporters for a long time. They aren't going to switch their minds from a Massive game to single shards or split instances.
Most people here as you have seen are fanatical for a true MMO game finally. I'm very excited myself for it.

This concern that bad things will happen to people and that's why you want to protect yourself from the world. There are some mechanics in place for that.

1.) Finding other players or organisations for safety. There are at least 4 umbrella organisations, a few of them offer mutual protection.
2.) Arkified areas will be player created high security zones, the full workings of how safe and how permanent are a little gray. but they'll exist.

Welcome to dual universe, it was an interesting first day for you. As suggested please look around, the Player made FAQ has good quick answers to many questions.

Cinderfall will be actively working to secure a spot for Emberstone which will be open to everyone unless they start causing a lot of problems like killing people in the streets or attacking buildings, then you'll get marked temporarily to be murdered by the security or any active forces.

What you're all bringing up is the basic lack of a fabric of society. That's precisely what csyn hopes to achieve. Well be actively helping noobies even if they go and join orgs which don't back the csyn mission to bring civilization to a lawless universe. As far as conflict, if we remain large or maintain considerable influence well lay down protective measures to guide beginners into the game.

If anyone builds around the ark field to try and hamper the newer people there's gonna be conflict. If Cinderfall and the syndicated members and any other friends build defences Around the field it'll probably be to keep the salty vets away.

If this is something that concerns you consider jumping into the csyn discord. If protecting organisations and player rights sounds good, we can solve more problems together than worrying about them divided

Since I started BOO, the culture has changed in to something I didn't expect it to, I really feel like we are coming in to our own identity finally and this here proves it. Special thanks to Willie and Blacksythe who helped put this together after listening to me for hours droning on about what I wanted. We may go through a few more iterations of this as time goes on, but the design itself will always be our "face".

Also, thanks again to Aetherios for our original logo. While we won't use it as much anymore, I'll always appreciate you lending a hand to me to help get this off the ground whenever much of the community here would of rather scolded me because grr boo.

Kongou reacted to le_troll_des_bois in Letter of appreciation to Novaquark
I just got back from the event held in Paris at Novaquark offices. I had to leave a little early, but still, this was quite an awesome evening.

I'd like to thank all the team members at novaquark for hosting this event, you guys rock !
Quick run down of events for those who didn't attend:

    - Introduction to the dev build we would lay our hands upon a few minutes later by the man himself: JC Baillie
    - Fool around with the dev build previously showcased in NQ videos with some members of the dev team to help us out when needed
    - QA session with JC again
    - Little drink with the rest of the team and attendees

    Where do I start ?

First, we met very dedicated and enthusiastic people at NQ. At no point did I feel I've been fed some PR bull*hit, or that the enthusiasm or willingness from dev to talk about their game was faked.
These guys really want to push themselves to deliver the best possible experience with this project, that's for sure.

I viewed JC as a strong leader, with a clear vision for the game, an acute knowledge of the challenges ahead and how to overcome them. From what we've seen from the team, my guess is that this project is in pretty good hands.

As expected from a dev build, the control scheme and performance were not ideal, but it ran perfectly. The nice thing is that the game ran on a server, meaning that we had 5 computers running at the same time with people fooling around.
I gotta say, seeing people zooming by in a newly built ship (the first one was built within a couple of minutes), or vandalizing editing those already placed by the devs was really cool.

There was a lot to cover during the QA session and little time to answer all the questions, but the community managers who waited for us with the drinks were kind enough to answer all of the remaining questions. Thanks for your golden patience and, again, enthusiasm guys !

I'm glad I was able to attend and meet the people behind the project, it really gives another meaning to my backing on KS.

Anyways, thanks again guys, and all the best for the things to come !

Im tired of hearing about emergent gameplay concerning DACs, if you want emergent gameplay, how do you justify DACs existance in the game world? Its a real thing to sell, trade that gives you game time to play. Your emergent play should only care about real game items that you use. All of your arguments to promote the stealing of someone elses game play time are completely ridiculous.

I honestly hope they do not go to this play style, and if you guys drop over i wish ypu well in eve where you can do this.
