  1. Thanks NovaQuark, you are truly some nice people. I don't really know what to say, thank you for at least making an effort to include the enhanced character creator for launch. You all continue to shoot past my expectations. I really wish the best for this team and hope the project succeeds overall and is a great success post launch.
  2. Just remember who the people are that would unify for a coordinated cyber bully attack. and who the people are that protect civil liberty. Will you stand idly by while sinister forces plot to take this game away from the people? These sinister forces which would seek any level of harassment all with a goal of putting themselves on top, driven by greed they will watch you suffer while they line their pockets. Remember when Democracy and Anarchy fail you, we're still here fighting for justice and righteousness, liberty and freedom, respect and honor. Elevate yourself to new heights, we're not asking you to submit and join us, we're asking you to let us join together for a better tomorrow.
  3. I wouldn't be able to condone taking peoples weapons. I believe to strongly in the right to bear arms. Offering a basic living wage might be unfeasible unless you have a guaranteed source of labor to grind credits. --- In order to protect the players of this games freedom, and to preserve the identity and liberty of organisations which sign onto the interstellar accord which is Cinderfall, Democracy is to dangerous of an element to be allowed to rule the day. More than once already we've had to shake a stick at people that would opt to do something that actually interferes with their own ability to be free in the game. People are not typically as up to speed with what is or isn't possible and get taken advantage of by politicians. Any org is free to align themselves under the Cinderfall umbrella if they agree to certain standards. Basically they must behave themselves. Does the magistratum have significant power and authority, yes sure, but the holders of power are the orgs. So if two orgs initiate a conflict through the magistrates mediation, say the DUA and the TU, over control of a planet, the magistratum wouldn't have been able to do anything until orgs request the use of their authority. The magi can solve problems, they cant forcibly redraw the borders of member orgs, they could in theory establish any sort of law but they'll put themselves up against me if they constrict the freedoms of the people or the orgs. Democratic, Autocratic, or whatever the system does not decide the strength or righteousness of the leaders. Just look at my poor country america today. The strength of a leader can however forge a system to be strong. The DUA is a sort of federal government, an alliance of member orgs, states and corps. The TU is some sort of super nation, with sub divisional orgs and corporations. ODY a corporate state, SLI some sort of judicial corporation. and so forth an on there are many more orgs in csyn, but this doesn't make them military allies, but rather protects them from outright hostilities from other member orgs, and csyn provides a sort of inter-organisation fabric of cooperation without forcing terms of a traditional power mongering alliance on people. Its too complicated for me to get into depth on how it all works here. Which some will poke fun at and say were overly bureaucratic. Designing it all of course requires a lot of paper work. but when it comes to operation in the game itll be smooth, and people wont even realize there's all this stuff at work behind the scenes. -- If you want some help forming your nation / alliance csyn might be able to help you get some footing, your local sovereignty is not at risk. All right.. I rambled again.. Cybrex I'm comin to tortuga for a drink. or a dozen.
  4. Your ideas are good but voxel weapons are not possible right now. https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/473-personal-weapons/#entry3183 maybe they can create different components to assemble a weapon to give it different stats. But everything will be meshes and objects they design and put in
  5. Astro we need to make it clear that Cinderfall is an intergalactic accord. And while we have some common defense measures it's not an alliance either. It's so often overlooked that we'll be providing war declarations and peacekeeping services. That there will be plenty of combat and economic movement, and that those claiming this is similar to a big blue blob are underestimating the flexibility of csyn. I'd like to also commend Tander, Banana, Vox, Halo and Dominar for taking on responsibilities in Cinderfall.
  6. Well, there wil be no resets unless something very very bad happens. Wizard covered mostly everything. They have some special server magic and it only saves the altered voxels. The way the markets work should prevent any place from become void of resources even if technically everything useful is mined out. Theres also several organisations that want to see the beginer noobie planet remain accessible to new players so its unlikely newbies will get stuck there. NQ could do something if they HAD to about it
  7. Welcome my lost Star Wars Galaxies friend. Its been a long time.
  8. It's likely going to be a little limited to begin with. Technology will have to be researched, developed, and applied by players. It may take a few days, weeks, or even months to escape the starter planet Alioth. Planets will be fairly big though, I wouldnt worry to much about it. The first solar system will have a number of planets, if I remember JC said possibly between 10-20 in that solar system. Then will come a technology that lets us send a probe through hyperspace to go looking for a nearby solar system. When it finds it, it will send a signal back to players allowing a limited number of ships / players or some undetermined variable, to warp to its destination. Players will have to construct a stargate in the Alioth system, and a stargate in the new solar system. Itll all be quite risky, time consuming, and require team work and coordination with other players to pull off. It'll be quite thrilling!
  9. https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/21-devblog-from-barter-to-market-economy/ (NB: we will discuss the question of faucets and sinks in balancing the amount of available in-game money in another post I'm glad JC Bailie knows how game economies work. I'm glad he knows the value of a DAC isn't about the game money but about the value people attach to it in the game be that resources or the game currency. I'm glad JC or the team knows whats real and that they're going to monitor and have tight control over the game currency. That they're going to control the game currency and they're going to allow a player driven economy. Some people cant understand how it works, not in game nor in real life, some people are just trolls from hell I guess.
  10. Sorry its been several months since i read that. I appreciate the reminder and I meant no harm. I'm merely looking at it from a game development viewpoint. Understandably they dont want people suiciding as a means of teleportation. But possibly theyll have a method for jump clones, the tag system might allow for it, and they're fans of EvE but thats not what Im actually concerned about. By simply having a well known hard limit that you respawn at the nearest nodes, regardless of tags. Why wouldnt the Orkrassians in this example of war, just have their own res nodes setup and set to public. Then all enemy soldiers that die will get teleport ed into their facility with no weapons. If the RN is as expensive as they make it sound, it isnt going to be something thats on every little ship, so im quite positive the closest RN will be the ones in the enemy base the enemy of the Orkrassians are attacking. Conversely if these spies sneak in and disabled all the Orkrassian RN's and the Orkrassians started spawning on the enemy carrier in orbit or whatever, thats a pretty big problem as well. The option to spawn at the ark ship is good, and a curse. I suppose I was trying to suggest several different things and I just did a very very poor job of it. 1.) Tags that enable a player made rez node to be set as your "home" rez location. 2.) Player made rez nodes having a small broadcast, perhaps 1 to 10 solar systems, when players select a higher range it costs more energy to broadcast the quantum web that catches your death in time space. From a gameplay perspective Players don't tend to die in an orderly fashion spaced apart 5 minutes each with the spawn tube having plenty of time to recharge. Rez nodes cant be both a personal item and a high valuable expensive thing. A Ship blows up and twenty to thirty people die, will we just have huge areas with hundreds of resurection nodes? If thats possible are they really valuable? If they're actually very rare and super valuable, then if it takes an hour, or a day for a single resurrection node to recharge whats really the use? nobody will revolve a strategy around spawning at a nearby RN, the commanders of players will just yell "ok respawn and do blah blah..", and everyone will know that means at the arkship. Basically I think that what they're planning, and some of the concepts around the nodes value, resource consumption, and re-use time don't exactly line up. To a degree im sure he means by if you only have maybe 1 generator putting out a little power, it may take a long time to recharge. but if you have a ton of power, it might take only a few seconds. How that information is relayed to players, I'm not sure, will they be placed into a queue, will they have a timer showing how long to wait and use this nearby resurrection node in order to make an informed decision on whether to click wait, or respawn at the Novark. I see them saying you start with a node in your inventory you can place, sort of nice, but also questionable. Why not just make a new character and get more RN's? Unless the starter res node is forcibly limited to only your usage and is a special item. Didnt mean to sound offensive to you or anything, you are raising a good conversation here. I should have said something more like, I feel that dev blog is a bit of a conceptual spill about RN's that JC Baillie and some of the team had and while representing the design principles, was still vague enough to leave themselves room to improve it or change it to work better. Not you, but other members > I also sometimes see community members presenting their opinions as fact and it gets all blurred together and vague. As for the past, now, alpha, and beyond, I've just been here on the sidelines trying to present reasonable concepts about game function. In this case, RN's cant be both rare and common, expensive to operate but accessible enough for a guy building his first hut to charge and use. Something everyone spawns with, but only powerful orgs/ players will be able to achieve. --- Edit, specifically about you point, yeah sure why would you not be able to set a node to public. Im sure The Outfit will have a town with a medical bay with RN's in it. Just set them public, the rez screen will probably inform people if there is a fee to use a nearby rez node. If not theres a good suggestion some1 can offer NQ. Otherwise, you could always set it public and free and charge a basic fee to leave the building. but also I could recommend setting it to free to use and to leave, and simply offering the common goods people will stock up on right next to the tubes. If your base is known to be a good place to spawn and yall are cool its more likely to bring people around?
  11. They've only said that the NPC's might, as in maybe possibly or on certain conditions, go away or stop offering money to players. Its not that there will be a fixed amount of money in circulation, but that they'll actively monitor the economy and standard flow of currency. Orgs that try to destabilize things and destroy the overall economy will become the bane of everyone. It wont be possible to horde 90% of the game money even if youre a super super villain, but just assuming some organisation gets close, theyll be looted, sacked, and pillaged by countless hordes of people. And no number of mercenaries will save them from round the clock assaults from peasants and commies, as that'll be what they turn everyone into. A good game econ has a way for money to flow in, and a way for it to flow out. If the analogy is a sink, then the faucet is where money comes in, the drain is where money flows out, but then theres also another part called a overflow pipe that prevents a sink from going above a certain level. As people quit and become inactive, NPC's increase how much theyll offer you for 100 resource of Iron, because money has technically escaped through the drain. It may still exist, but its inactive and not being traded regularly. If lets say, a large number of players suddenly turn in resources all at once and the water level rapidly rises, the price of goods on the market goes up because people have more money. The NPC's can have a credits to resource system. Nobody would ever buy Iron for 1500 credits, if they can buy it for 1200 from an NPC, unless theyre out on the fringe of civilization and have no way to get resources from the Novark to where they're at. So if the money goes over a certain level, the automatic systems in place will help deter inflation. and Likewise if the levels become to low, NQ will crank up the faucet and pour more money in. No one person, org, alliance, collective, or force in the game will be able to control what NQ does.
  12. When you die I believe you'll have an option to select from Resurrection Nodes within range. It would clearly and easily be abused by people if you were forced to use the same one that's closest to you over and over again. Being an item, yes well be able to tag them in various ways. Party only, organisation only, public, etc. Not known if the Novark resurrection node is special. I would assume it probably is and has infinite range. So if you die somewhere far off in the edge of nowhere youll always have one place to re-spawn at. Don't let anyone fool you, NQ has not explicitly stated the operational mechanics of the RN's. Even if they've said vaguely that they take a lot of power or have recharge timers, the context of what they mean by that isn't well understood. Does it mean that if you die repeatedly that you have a longer death cooldown. or can the node only spawn 1 person per minute. because obviously at times more than 1 person will die within a short period of time and people arent going to wait around a half an hour to rez. NQ arent fools and they arent going to intentionally implement broken game mechanics that allow people to be captured and forced into slavery, good luck trying, If I notice its broken like that in alpha Ill be submitting long well planned solutions to make the game playable.
  13. No, DAC's should be a permanently immune item from theft. But I propose a counter argument(s) to all of this. Pick and choose pieces of each argument if that suits the outcome better NQ. Make it so that the DAC item is only potent, or usable, on Alioth. Create a NPC on the arkship, that has a inventory for every player, and that is where they can store DAC's for free. Even if theyre potent in the entire universe, at least having a safe storage NPC should be doable? even with the current technical limitations? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keep the emphasis of emergent gameplay on the game itself, not on the RMT deterrent, or else we may as well attatch real life value to all the game currency and create a direct money market exchange. Where people can pour real life money in, or withdrawal real life money out, by proxy of the game currency. Well, I propose finding a means to make the Ark Tokens, that are already to be found out in the public, a greater emphasis to turn peoples attention away from DAC's ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On a second move I propose that we can make any variation of limits on the game currency market wallets. Either limits in transferring large quantities of funds, or actual limits on how much money you can hold in the market wallet. By imposing a limit on the wallet, you would force people to convert some of their money into "physical" game goods. Raw ores / refined ores / valuable components. OR we could have an item as suggested by many, gold bars, or any various thing. Let us attach some tags to them, and there we go a viable alternative to the DAC's. I can understand the concern of people having these DAC's out and about in circulation but they're not the magical, end all be all, item a small group of people want them to be. The emergent gameplay is actually just a code word for. I want to be able to steal DACs for game time. Why cant you steal valuable things, and resell them and buy the DAC's with game currency like everyone else? Not everyone's gameplay styles can be favored over some others? Do people think that because DAC's exist that Ark Tokens, 500,000 tons of raw iron, sneaking into an enemy hanger and hijacking a valuable ship, do they think that DAC's make irrelevant all the other possible emergent gameplay styles? In fact I almost go so far as to think that wrapping the whole game around these DAC's is counter progressive. It hinders NQ's freedom to develop other interesting features into the game. This is why im opposed to them being a lootable item in play in the game field. Keep them restricted, and keep them just for their intended purpose of anti RMT, account security, and the viable choice for the free to play crowd. We have Ark Tokens, a very valuable item, that must be found by exploring. And we could have other high value items to enable the sort of emergent game play people want. Let us not turn it into a war of real money economics with the DAC's. Keeping the DAC's clean, and creating in game items with greater value than DAC's, will prevent the root fear that many have which is that DAC's can be used by some means to destabilize gameplay. ------ And above all, I ask of you everyone to let NQ devlop the game in a clean environment. This ruckus that exploded over this is pretty shameful on the community.
  14. NQ will be defining the character models. no importing. as the others said on importing creations, 99% no. maybe some small png's or images that we can display on ships, but much like other games if it hinders performance on a large scale im sure theyll kill it.
  15. Hello, thank you very much for joining the forums community. I hope you find the place enjoyable, dont let the trolls get to you.
  16. The Aether is beyond the comprehension of us primitives that still linger about the world. They've transcended beyond the mental capacity of most of us. To even be graced by their presence is above what we deserve.
  17. Cinderfall will be actively working to secure a spot for Emberstone which will be open to everyone unless they start causing a lot of problems like killing people in the streets or attacking buildings, then you'll get marked temporarily to be murdered by the security or any active forces. What you're all bringing up is the basic lack of a fabric of society. That's precisely what csyn hopes to achieve. Well be actively helping noobies even if they go and join orgs which don't back the csyn mission to bring civilization to a lawless universe. As far as conflict, if we remain large or maintain considerable influence well lay down protective measures to guide beginners into the game. If anyone builds around the ark field to try and hamper the newer people there's gonna be conflict. If Cinderfall and the syndicated members and any other friends build defences Around the field it'll probably be to keep the salty vets away. If this is something that concerns you consider jumping into the csyn discord. If protecting organisations and player rights sounds good, we can solve more problems together than worrying about them divided
  18. Well its really well done, do you want to explain in your own words the symbology of the whole thing as you see it in your eyes? good job to the designers / creators.
  19. I want to thank the team for being really cool and doing an event like that. I also want to thank everyone of the community who was able to go, on multiple levels. Thanks for being cool and going, it was a great opportunity, also thank you for proving people are basically trust-able to enter into a secure facility and not cause trouble.
  20. It doesnt do as much good as it sounds for them to be a loot-able item. I'm going to go against this Unlike in eve, there are no NPC stations to sit them in. theyll exist somwhere in game at all times available to be taken. Everyone makes this sound like it'll destroy the game if you can't steal DAC's from people. I'm not convinced stealing DAC's is useful for the game as a whole. Its simply an interesting mechanic for them, but its not really fair in either direction. DAC's themselves arent particularly fair and making them lootable is just another injustice. Either way is percieved as something not fair. If people with money can buy DACs not fair. If people can't steal DACs somehow also not fair. I respect NQ's decision to make them non lootable. Why would anyone ever move a DAC, even if its a physical item just use a tag mark it as yours and you are the only one with the right to pick it up, leave it in the Novark field area, and leave. Realized there is technically one safe area. I'm not about strong arming NQ to make decisions or using perceived leverage against them I hope they stick to making choices they believe are logical and not bending because the community clammors for something that is opinion. Great games have been wrecked in both directions, communities asking for questionable mechanics, and devlopers turning their back to community opinion.

  22. I pay a guy on fiver to make alt accounts and join orgs randomly to stir drama.
  23. If youre looking for a place and want to build up a civilization and not just your own private empire to be the nerd king of. Here is a speel of my basic hopes and ambitions of cinderfall. -------------- The Cinderfall Syndicate is to create a high security and safe space within the game. Since the world will lack any form of forced safety that Non Player Character organisations provide such as in EVE. Starting from Alioth, well build Emberstone a completely safe place, where noobies can come and get a grip, they dont have to join Cinderfall. We will try to explain the pros and cons of various organisations to people, even orgs that do not support the Cinderfall mission or sign on. So we will make efforts to classify cities, areas, planets, solar systems, stargates, and miscellaneous with a simplistic security rating system to let people know the general value of a safe or dangerous place. We are legitimate so while others might tell you a place is safe, it might not actually be, Cinderfall will not lie about its security ratings you can trust them. The Syndicate is a loose collection of organizations which agree to the Cinderfall mission. However just being a member does not necessarily make this a traditional alliance. An application process will be developed for bringing new organisations in, and the Syndicate Senate may at times vote new members into the syndicate at large or even onto the Senate itself. This senate does not control any relative aspect of players gaming experience but guides Cinderfall and its objectives, such as where to place hubs, how much sales tax a hub will have, the location of cinderfall stargates, and other various topics. The JSDF will be expanded or shrink to cover the high security locations that are established as mentioned before. Its members will consist of the cinderfall primary members of the Magistratum or the JSDF as well as Syndicate members who join as a secondary citizen. If you haven't time for secondary responsibility within Cinderfall itself but are a member of the syndicate, your org may be cleared to have its own operational branch, or expeditionary force, under the authority of the JSDF. The Magistratum will work as an effort to seek balance and harmony in the syndicate, and to do its best to help those even outside of the realm of civilization. A Magistratum Archive will be constructed in Emberstone where peoples may share or find information on various scripts that have been made, we want to improve the quality of the game for as many as possible. The primary role of the members of the Magistratum and thus Cinderfall is to provide conflict mediation based on philosophical guidelines the Magistratum coems up with in order to best serve everyone in keeping the game fun while actually solving problems as best we can. ---- So if ANY of that chunk of death interests you come at me, we all know I could use help.
  24. The legends and stories of organisations rise and fall has already begun 2 years before launch. These are the tales of the Dual Universe, where no strange form of politics is left unturned, no drama too outlandish to exist, a universe with limitless potential! Oh yeah, uhh, so are you a sentient space squid that eats other space squids? and or any people?
