In the end, group mentalities will likely dominate. To be expected.

If I have an organization or alliance, I'll focus on them instead and then anyone else. In short, likely countless groups will try to get off the rock and find a place on their own out there - and then there'll likely be public projects to establish transportation off-world initially before other things and infrastructure get established.

Just throwing it in here after playing around a bit. Due to size (despite slight optimization) it could initially be choppy as it loads for those with a smaller connection. 'bout 9mb.

Later usage examples: Potential in-setting 'screensaver' or looping on (public) telescreens for promotion, etc.

Unless I mix the terms up, that is what I had in mind, roughly.

I dislike the often "absolute mentality" that some apply in these sandbox environments, like "shoot or not". I think one can consider things in-between such as fines or manual labor and it would, in the end, add immersion and a different approach to punishments.

If a hub is really vital, being banned from there can be some kind of punishment - you cut off people from infrastructure or services. At the same time you could offer ways they can redeem themselves - fines or manual labor. Or you use the very same things as option before any final "ban" or "cut" is made, alternatively. I honestly think it would be "fun" and work without any classic jailing system. But time will tell whether we get that far and what the later game versions will offer.

You know you can join this project or idea, mister "kids drew on my avatar", as it works beyond classic organization membership.

On another note we already have the first volunteer.

If this will not be a barrel bust, then you can bet that we as organization will also dedicate funds to promoting this in a somewhat more immersive or believable fashion.

Maybe not right now, but surely once the game makes bigger steps. Heck, if it does and I don't report in any longer, remind me of this.

Good things should be supported early on, basically.

This is a fitting addition and will likely have a major impact once this game is more fleshed out.

With one word: immersion. Some probably can't hear that word anymore, but just think of mining or flying somewhere while listening to actual ads with a relevance to the world, community, etc.

Assuming there is different levels of messages and communication within statements (science, n' all), I of course can't judge the underlying intent of the previous or initial posts.

I basically mention this because even if one were to assume the disposition was unfriendly or opposed (in short, someone asks to criticize rather than simply gain knowledge about a topic), the question itself appears to be valid and I like to inquire, too.

Organizations advertising elevated or special positions (to outsiders)? Nothing new. But in mass organizations or large ones you could generally expect that existing members get internal preference and internal offers rather than also opening external applications. Of course one could assume you also did that internally, but it still seems to be somewhat odd given the aforementioned reasons. If you opened both internal and external applications this puts your members at odds with external applicants.

In the end, any approach can have pros and cons depending on what you look for, so I'm not necessarily saying "this is bad". Just wondering because the two raised the initial question.

What could use some work was the public response, however

You may have noticed that some organizations didn't get an "Evolution" topic: that's just because they actually didn't have any (notable) evolution.

    Or they didn't answer.

On a sidenote, I advise you participate into Yama's Dual Universe Radio Network project. It's solid.

    Hello Dual Universe Community,

We are bringing you today a new idea that is in the works and we want your opinion. The Alioth Broadcasting Corporation invites the content creators of Dual Universe to take part in creating a 24/7 live audio streaming network of content focused around Dual Universe.

We envision a platform that allows anyone from the Dual Universe community to apply and DJ/host on this station, creating their own shows or podcasts based on Dual Universe in some way or another. DJ Hosts are allotted time slots that work with their schedule where they can play music, talk to players, run radio games, talk DU news and more.

At the moment we are still in the early phases of testing our streaming platform and trying to integrate player ads and DJ interfaces in a cohesive manner so that it is as seamless and automated as possible.

We're asking that any organizations that may want their ads played to send us (on discord preferably) 30-60 second ads based around your org (think radio ads). For now, just come up with short, simple ads for the community to hear. We are going to be using these ads to test airspace and control.

In addition to ad content, we are also looking for people who might be interested in being a  DJ, whether live or just pre-recorded content so that we can start running through a beta schedule. That also includes talk shows or broadcasts centered around your organization. If you would like to be a DJ or want to try it out, let us know and we will start testing with multiple people. Requirements for becoming a DJ are a clear microphone (if you're going to be speaking) and you must be able to download (install and setup) the appropriate streaming software onto your own computer. You must also have free time(s) available sometime during the week for about 1-2 hours minimum.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be running through a beta schedule, and while we don't expect much content to fill the air until at least alpha launches, we wanted to get this up and running now with a sane scheduling system and enough content-producers lined up so that we can launch the complete station all at once.

If you would like to be a part of Dual Universe Radio Network, let us know by sending us a message through discord or the forums (this forum). As this is a new idea, we would love any input the community has, so let us know your thoughts or questions below.

We want to stress that this is being built as a neutral, 3rd party group that will take no bias towards any other organization. Our goal with this network is simply to keep it operational and to keep it fun for our listeners. We don't favor one group or another, however, individuals on the network are free to represent their own thoughts and opinions under certain guidelines we will have in place.

    https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/10801-%E2%98%91-the-unofficial-looking-for-organization-thread/

I should still get it stickied or, to be more precise, request that it is stickied, at one point. But it's mostly for seekers. One could think about making another thread just for organizations to post ads or multimedia in.

Was this the idea for this thread, thread creator?

If people think wider, they'll find plenty of reasonable uses for laws (and regulations) beyond pure security, contraband etc. laws and whatnot.

The worst for smugglers or dealers would be a cohesive tight-knit efficient security or police organization with proper "incorruptibles" and mechanisms to prevent corruption passively or actively.

Chances are there will be a few more 'cohesive' organizations out there among the many player made organizations, nations, etc. There's already quite a few "crusaders" in Star Citizen. While gameplay mechanics may be different, I think you can roughly compare Star Citizen and Dual Universe because in a way community interaction will be comparable.

But then again it wouldn't even matter much if you offer "universal", ironically. Say a player government really cracks down on smuggling and keeps their places relatively free, and them (smugglers, dealers, etc) out. That's good for them but it wouldn't even matter much to the dealers or whatever. What would you do if operating there was nearly impossible or not worth it? You'd move on and try elsewhere.

You could say the 'shady ones' still win. In theory. Of course if you move somewhere else there could be competition...

Looks like it won't be easy for anyone, either initially or after some time.

In my book it should be simple: If you have your discord in your recruitment threads, expect them to be considered public unless there was a clear context or message that would indicate otherwise, but then again it should perhaps not be part of the recruitment thread with a link.

So if all the data was collected from open (recruitment) threads, I see no problem. If not, future data should be collected and added here according to (recruitment) threads anyone can view as it's basically public knowledge then - or could be.

This makes it easy for all - you can assume orgs give auto-consent if their links are public. You as the one creating the list don't have to get back to individual ones and ask "Can I add this to the list, please?", or, in turn, don't have to deal with the occasional "OMG REMOVE IT AT ONCE, POST-HASTE!" messages.

Thus I basically consider using public info in the list by default as the easiest way.

E: Recruitment threads are just an example. "Public knowledge" could also relate to messages posted in chat where someone advertises their organization on a broad level while sharing Discord servers. Same outcome, really. You get the point, ladies and gentlemen.

I still see a difference between roaming alone in an MP environment and playing singleplayer exclusively, however.

A good personal example I can give is Conan Exiles ... or maybe DayZ. The environment is dangerous, and so are other players in theory. In the few days I played the former, I haven't met a single person face to face until yesterday - and that was literally face to face, almost.

But the "thrill" is that you could meet someone and that the area evolves. For example, in the few days additional houses and bases popped up in my area - so that's an active development and change to the landscape.

You don't get all of that in singleplayer unless the AI is somehow developed to expand or pull back depending on what happens. Still, one can't exactly replace human beings with AI or offer the same 'quality' or irregular responses.

To others who fit the bill (below) now and who read this:
Perhaps some may not feel 'used' to operating in an MP environment with emergent gameplay and risks. To those I say: Consider getting out of that 'comfort zone' and try it out, even if you suffer initial losses. Why? Because if you establish yourself and get by, it becomes great over time. That precise risk caused by other players or development is what makes these sandbox games great in my opinion. It's a dynamic world with ups and downs.

I thank you two (and for that matter anyone else who may find it remotely interesting now or later on).

I personally think it'll fill a good niche, especially for the folks into this stuff. General law enforcement RP maybe. I think having this as a somewhat separated project allows more people access to it, compared to forcing some to join specific organizations or possibly being restricted by them. Example: someone could be in some company and then join up here to see a different type of gameplay. Given that we will focus on large and / or neutral places, I think a conflict of interest can also be reduced.

At the same time, strictly governmental or faction-focused police and security organizations are not touched by this, so there is no "monopoly" or competition here.

To summarize, I mostly see benefits.

But alas, time shall be the ultimate judge.
