I am one of those diehards, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The main problem is that the list of quick feature changes in your example, would typically be something like 1 year of dev time at NQ pace. And that was before they decreased the manpower working on DU to a skeleton crew no less.

But don't take my word for it. Take a look at the release logs going back a couple of years, look at how many actual new features was implemented during that time period and make your own conclusions..

Hi, can we have different colors on dynamic construct in PVP?

    By priority order:
NQ Staff > Green (like actually)

Transponder match, not a NQ Staff > Blue

Transponder didn't match BUT pilot is in friendlist/orgs and not a NQ Staff > White

Transponder didn't match, not in friendlist/orgs and not a NQ Staff > Red

It's the first MMO where I can't clearly see my ennemies/allies, I take 2 minutes for color them on GIMP, with 5 minutes you can have a nice icon for sure.

"the Market station provides a new dynamic in the transport of cargo, in that merchandise can be bought and sold without the need to make planetfall."

so like any of the already existing moon markets, without the moons.

Market 1 Alioth moon 1 is:
    -closer to most players
    -also in space
    -more landing space
-easier landing, because a tiny bit of gravity is nice to have
-you can already warp to a moon, no public warp beacon needed

I have no idea how the new space market adds anything in any way for anybody except the Utopia guys, that was not already provided by any of the moon markets. Unless the fact that there is a moon below the moon markets is an issue, which I doubt, the new market is not going to see a lot of action, it is yet another waste of time.

Next time players ask for something that would actually be nice and make the game more fun and the devs say "we would love to, but it isn’t priority, maybe later we find the time" just remember there was time enough for this thing.

Are there any updates on LUA screens? The new LUA API for screen content is great but is missing important features such as text rotation and the ability to draw polygons. Is more time scheduled to work on this feature. Are there still no specific dates for disabling/removing HTML screens?

Currently it is not possible using the new LUA screen functions to rotate text. As a result, is it is not possible to have a screen in portrait orientation with text.

The only way to add text using the new functions is
    addText(layer, font, text, x, y)
But the documentation states that this function does not support rotation

Wow, another "fix" for the markets that is just another bandaid.  Why is it so hard to delete ships after a certain amount of time!?!?!?!?!  I just don't get it.  How about you remove the markets all together and get us our player markets and we can spread ALL that processing out across the entire game?  It would at least give ME a small reason to play again.  I could set up a nice little market center and rent out shops. I would have something useful to build again.  Heaven forbid NQ try to turn lemons into lemonade.

Yep, in case you can't tell, I'm one of those artists.  I made videos for this game until they removed those.  Then they only allow 5 images which is insane, but I made do.  And now they yank HTML/CSS.   If HTML (of all things) is slowing the server down so much then there are way more significant problems that need to be fixed.  But once again, NQ is taking the easy way out and doesn't care how it affects the players.

I'm losing any remaining hope that I will be able to begin playing this game again.  In the two months I've been gone the game continues to move backwards.  Sigh... what a total bummer.

My entire range of products in-game is based on HTML screens and CSS animations. It would not be feasible to rewrite them in any amount of time that would make it worthwhile. The new LUA based drawing features are extremely limited. For example, a large part of what makes my Bacterium product look realistic is the use of CSS animation on SVGs. Most crucially, the ability to use existing skillset (HTML/CSS) and familiar tools (SVG creation outside of the game e.g. Adobe Illustrator) are what make my products possible within the already tight limitations of DU.

I don't want to be dramatic, because I know its important to be constructive when giving feedback but if you remove support for HTML on screens, I'm out. Hundreds of hours of work will have been wasted and the key element that attracted me to this game will have been lost.

HTML/CSS is an existing technology that attracts creators becuase they can use existing skillsets. Removing it is too greater loss. If anyone else feels this way, please comment below.

    EDIT
Can I just give an example of the sort of thing I am regularly doing on screens so you can understand how unachievable it will be using the new LUA commands:

My Bacterium product (https://du-creators.org/makers/NoxCorp/ship/NoxCorp Bacterium) uses animated SVGs inside <DIV> containers that are then animated to move around and transformed in 3 dimensions using CSS. This can all be achieved in around 30,000 characters of HTML/SVG markup and CSS. There are no amount of "useful drawing commands" that can offer this kind of flexibility.

When creating artwork, you use familiar tools like Adobe Illustrator. That's how I created the Bacterium pets and then I used CSS to animate them and make them breathe. If I can't import vectors to display them on screen then I cannot work with my existing tools. You'll find that many other creators will share my feelings on this.
