And to everyone, thank you for joining. The rate of growth is quite alarming and is forcing me to expand when I thought I had a little bit more time to sit back. I was quite wrong and I'm being forced to write my plans, government and everything much quicker than originally planned. In one way, this spike of interest is not only expanding the DUA player base, but also expanding how the DUA is being formed. Thanks for the interest again.

Well, last time I checked. Steven went to see if the sun was achievable, didn't hear from him for over 4 months. Can someone check on him?

As far as it could seem cool to build such a huge creation, you'll probably get bored (or die) before it's completed. Regarding the actual size of planets, I think that's perfect like it is now, for the following reason:

-Less dispersion of player, more pvp.
-You can easily find Bases/Social HUBs
-Resources on a planet will deplete faster, so colonizing make more sense. If you live in a huge ass planet that has so many resources you'll never be able to use, colonizing doesn't play a role.
    -Colonizing means exploration.
    - and more

An underground city buried deep inside a planet sounds more like a plan than a suggestion, as I'm sure such a thing will be possible!

As for a Starkiller base, I'm not so sure. The Starkiller base was roughly 10 times larger than the first Deathstar. The first Deathstar was roughly 150klm in diameter. The second one being almost three times the size. (To put that in perspective, the first Deathstar was bigger than the biggest size available for a default Space Engineers planet (which is 120klm in diameter)

So now back to the Starkiller base, that's about 1200klm in diameter. While such a planet size probably will not exist in DU, (if it does, I will eat my keyboard) creating a weapon capable of destroying entire star systems in a game full of star systems is incredibly overpowered and unpracticable for the server. As such a server would already be using a lot of processing power, a Starkiller base would probably not work.

    Sorry to disappoint

    Anyway, welcome to the forums!

Dominar reacted to The_War_Doctor in Subscription should not be its pay model
We have synthesized a bit all the things that were taken into account, but you have here all the main reasons why we are aiming toward a Pay to Play model. In a nutshell, here’s what we have planned:
Free Trial period: between 2 and 4 weeks. Monthly subscription (optional with a PLEX-like system) Possible (cosmetic only) Cash Shop. If deployed, we will make it in order that every month, players who have paid a subscription will be able to get some cash shop items for free. stolen from the devblog. this is the current plan set in motion by NQ and i think it will work. 2 to 4 weeks is alot of time in my opinion to test a game out. id like to see the 4 weeks over the 2 weeks, unless the 2 weeks is like a fixed time of play. though 2 weeks of game play unless they consider a day of game play 8hrs is alot of time.

however id hate to only pay for game time played for only because im a weird gamer. there are times where i may play a game for 15+ hrs in one sitting or day. to me paying for time only may come out to me paying more money than the 10 to 15 dollars a month. if this game only needs cash floor to run a server with minimal updates the price point should be around 5 dollars a month depending on the estimated player base. if they plan to basically release the game in a late stage beta and go back regularly and tweak it and add stuff they didnt add before the release because of meeting a deadline. id be happy to pay more than 5 to 10. if they plan to add massive updates then ill be happy to pay upwards of 15 (i dont know of any game that is over 15 a month). the money we pay for this game regardless of the source is paying for server maintenance and customer support first and foremost, past that it goes towards i hope improvements to the game

ps. i know im in these sub threads alot, and i hope that i offer new information and point of view each time with out sounding like a broken record. i just feel strongly that if a game is to survive it needs to be p2p atleast at first much like a elder scrolls model

Dominar reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Forum Rules
We want this forum to be a place where everyone feels empowered to have an open and friendly discussion with us (the Novaquark team) as well as other community members.  To help make this possible we have created rules we feel will keep things positive and ensure that proper netiquette is observed.

By posting on this forum, either publicly or through private message or other means, you explicitly agree to follow the rules and guidelines posted here. If you do not agree with these rules – in whole or in any part – then do not post. All members will be treated as if they have read and understood these rules and guidelines.

    (I) Be respectful and courteous.
The Dual Universe forums and community site are provided for Dual Universe players and those interested in discussing topics directly related to Dual Universe. We understand that community members may disagree with each other, and even with us, but we expect opinions to be expressed in a reasonable and polite manner.  It is important to maintain an atmosphere of civility and respect, so that all voices may be heard.

    (II) Communicate constructively.
All communication, whether between players, moderators or Dual Universe staff, must be constructive. Posts without constructive commentary can distract from the topic at hand, reduce the visibility of valuable communication, and discourage others from participating in the conversation.

    (III) Following actions are prohibited:
Posting off-topic replies or replies that are likely to drag the discussion off topic. Necroposting on old threads (unpinned threads in which the last reply is older than 2 months). Spamming on a specific topic. This includes creating multiple discussions on the same topic in the same or multiple forums. Cross-posting a specific reply. This is also a form of spamming. Posting an image without a meaningful text. A meme is not a response to a discussion. They are usually disruptive and can be easily misinterpreted. The same is true for animated GIFs. Calling out other players or community members by name to shame them for actions or opinions you may disagree with. Naming and shaming is not tolerated. Posting in any manner that disrupts an official thread. Official threads are topics created by the Novaquark team for the purpose of collecting feedback and opinions. Threatening legal action. Unfortunately, this kills all conversation immediately as we must refer all further discussion to our legal team. To preserve the conversation intact and unaltered these types of responses may be immediately archived. Trolling (provoking) people. Flaming (insulting, attacking) people. Picking fights isn’t a good way to make your point. It usually means you don’t have one and are just trying to cause trouble. Using profanity. Including creative spelling or character substitution to bypass word filters. Using the report system in an abusive manner. This is a form of harassment and a tremendous waste of time for both staff and moderators. Discussions and comments involving real life politics, ideology or religion. These can be incendiary topics and will usually lead to inappropriate behavior and uncomfortable situations. Publicly posting any private discussions, conversations, or other material between a user and a Novaquark employee (confidentiality policy). Refusal to follow the directions of Novaquark staff or representatives.
The use of an alternate account to circumvent a forum suspension is forbidden at all times. Additionally, the use of alternate account(s) to influence or misrepresent opinions is strictly prohibited. All forum accounts must adhere to the forum rules and Code of Conduct. Failure to comply can result in disciplinary actions against all associated accounts.

Violating these guidelines may trigger a warning, followed by either a temporary or permanent suspension of forum privileges depending on the severity and frequency of the violations.

(IV) The following actions may result in the immediate suspension of forum privileges:
There are some actions severe enough to result in immediate temporary or permanent suspension of posting privileges without prior notification. Serious or sustained offenses may result in suspension of not only the user's forum account but game account as well.

Threatening other members or Novaquark staff. No, “just joking’ is not a defense. We take this very seriously. Publicly revealing account or personal information of any person, community member or Novaquark staff. Posting harmful links pointing to viruses, malware, worms or trojans. Posting sexually explicit content. Including posting links to such content. Hate speech is not tolerated in any form. Attacking any ethnic group, religion, gender or sexual preference/identity. Promoting exploits, cheating programs, piracy or any sort of illegal activity. Attempt to impersonate Novaquark staff or another member of the community.
Violations of these rules may result in further steps taken with outside authorities or agencies. This may include your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and local or national Law Enforcement agencies.

    (V) Abide by moderators and Novaquark employee’s instructions.

If you disagree with a moderator or employee's actions, do not discuss or challenge the matter in forum posts. Send an e-mail to forum@novaquark.com, and be sure to include your forum handle (name displayed on the forum), but NOT your password, and clearly state your concerns.

Hello Dominar, welcome to the forum and yes i agree with Space Engineers and ambitious projects, after around 10% of the work is done, the fps drops under 10 and after that its more like snails engineers, which is no fun. At least that is whats normally happen to me.

With a game this big, I'm half expecting the Devs to make it possible. Just think about it. In a universe with millions of players, there's going to be that one guy who, despite the risks and chances of imminent death, will attempt a mission to the core. "To hell with going up, we want to go down!"

If it was made possible, it could serve as a late game supply of renewable energy, very expensive and rare materials, and the means to create powerful items, weapons and gear. I can think of a few ways it could be made possible. You don't have to let players go down, why not be able to create a machine that can withstand the pressure and heat. Set it down at a point where players themselves can go no deeper. Perhaps this machine sucks up molten ore and rock near the core. Turn said molten rock and ore into equipment!
