It's going to continue to be fun.
I must admit, that I really wish the whining about how somehow you were lied to would just end. I don't care. no really, it just doesn't matter. If I point out that there was always a disclaimer there will be quibbling about that. So I will just settle on, "I don't care." I'm going to have fun and enjoy our actual Arrival  and awakening from Cryosleep. #TyimWasRight. Yup Aphelia lied to you. She might lie to  you again. (and again) get out there and conquer the universe anyway.

Haunty reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in PSA: Discord ban for sharing NQ forum post - despite NDA being lifted?!
    Hi everyone!
As it seems some people wants to blow things out of proportion, Here are some clarifications:
What was under NDA during Alpha stays under NDA indefinitely. Having the NDA lifted means "from the moment the NDA is lifted, nothing posted / said after the NDA lift is under NDA. What was post/said under NDA (meaning before NDA lift) remains under NDA, so you shouldn't, under any circumstances, copy/paste a screenshot from a forum post in the section under NDA. That being said... This case is bit particular:
It is true that this piece of information has been communicated publicly by Novaquark in a video, though copy/pasting a screenshot from a forum post in the section under NDA is still an infraction. Taking into account this particular situation, this is why @Megabosslord your post wasn't moderated in the Reset Announcement feedback thread because we took into account that the main piece of information was publicly communicated a long time ago, and because we are understanding that the current situation is frustrating for many people. However, no one on Discord has been banned for this specific topic (so saying it happened is a blatant lie) but muted temporarily (7 days), mute that have been reduced and ended by now. We get the situation makes many people react very passionately (for understandable reasons),  but that's no valid reason to distort what really happened. @Megabosslord Here is now a formal warning: for both twisting reality (borderline disinformation) and discussing moderation decisions publicly on the forum. Please keep in mind that those two things are considered infractions of the forum rules. On a final note, as this forum thread should have never happened in the first place, it's going to be locked.

Haunty reacted to TobiwanKenobi in Achievement rewards are negligible. Increase the talent point reward greatly to make them fun.
NQ, the talent point rewards for achievements are so tiny that they might as well not exist. Yet these achievements could be a fun and rewarding activity to pursue if they gave meaningful rewards. An easy way to increase player engagement and give them 'something to do' would be to increase these rewards by A LOT. It would also motivate people to learn other parts of the game that they haven't yet experienced.

    Examples:
First Blood - Destroy 1 ship of size XS: 120pts --> 5000pts (about one hour worth of training)
Master Gunner - Shoot all types, variants, and sizes of ammo: 3240pts --> 50,000pts (about ten hours worth of training)
Factory Master - Have at least 50 industry units running simultaneously: 1080pts --> 25,000pts
Speed Freak - Reach max speed for the first time: 120pts --> 5000pts
Billionaire - Reach 1B in your wallet: 9720pts --> 129,600pts (a full day of training)
Expert Miner - Extract ore from 20 different planets or moons: 9270pts --> 129,600pts
    etc. etc.

Give us rewards that we can be excited about and achievements will be fun! It will give players lots of things to do at launch and encourage them to experience all the game has to offer.

I'm glad NQ didn't decide to try to compromise with everyone and do a convoluted selective wipe. The reasons make sense, one last chance to get things right for 1.0 launch, because I don't think there will be any more chances after that.

.23 wasn't really a big deal after schematic prices were lowered, if that's all it takes to lose you interest in the game then don't bother. Even if .23 never happened, people would've gotten bored with everything else and left. There still lacks an incentive to stay in the long term, other than the creative building part

Not a huge deal, but would still prefer some sense with material masses of the light materials listed. Make concrete, marble, and brick heavier like 25/unit with same low resistance, and lump Plastic in with carbon fiber and wood.

Haunty reacted to Dracostan in PLANNED HONEYCOMB CHANGES - Discussion thread
Building materials should have 2 mass categories like the products - light and heavy, to have a more 'real world' feel to the materials. As the building materials are predominantly used in static builds, actual mass is not really an issue.

So concrete, brick, marble should all be heavy mass honeycombs.

Carbon-fibre and wood should be light mass, as they are far more likely to be used in dynamic builds and again would reflect real world feel to the materials.

Lumi glass is a special case that could be heavy mass, because while it does feature in dynamic builds, it's not a predominant material, rather a highlighter, so it's overall mass contribution to a construct will be low, despite being a heavy mass honeycomb.

Go ahead and wipe everything but blueprints, fix past mistakes and make release as best as can be. Based on the points made that sounds like the best option. As long as blueprints are revamped to make it easer to redeploy static constructs it should be fine.
I don't care if skill points are reset to 0, keeping all skill points might be too advantageous, but keeping a percentage of them or capping them might be a good compromise.
If a few people leave because they lost their alpha/beta progress then so be it, best to appeal to new players.

Zen 3 and intel 12th gen both support AVX2 just not AVX 512 (by default on alder lake) disabling the E cores helps a lot/ enabling AVX-512 support in bios, E cores run at a lower clock speed and causes issues with AVX-512 if you leave them on. Like low frame rates like you didn't spend 1.7k on a PC upgrade..

DU is a game that has open world combat PVP, NQ has made more than reasonable compromises to allow those who do not want to encounter combat PVP.
If you want a game which is entirely combat PVP free, DU is not it and you should choose another game to play.

Haunty reacted to NQ-Wanderer in UPDATE: MERCURY (0.30)
Summer approaches and with it comes Mercury, our next update to Dual Universe.

As Cyrille Fontaine, our Creative Director, mentioned in his letter, our focus is currently on polish, and Mercury is no exception. This update also brings new features such as The Alioth Exchange, better lighting to improve visuals, Summer DACs, and more.

    Read on for an overview.

    THE ALIOTH EXCHANGE

We’re about to deploy a new installation in the heart of Alioth where players can apply to build a display to advertise and sell their creations. Applications will be open to all players who want to advertise their ship shops, markets, Lua Scripts, organizations, voxel libraries, or anything else that they create.
More details about, ‘The Alioth Exchange,’ will be available in an upcoming dedicated post.

Note: constructs featured are samples only.

    CONTINUED GRAPHICAL UPGRADES

We’re tackling illumination, vegetation, and explosion visual effects with the Mercury Update. You’ll find that the game world will be more radiant and realistic with our new global illumination, vegetation asset fixes will improve the look of foliage in the game, and whether you’re fighting or simply crashing a ship, you can enjoy more vibrant explosions.

    SUMMER DACs

We’re implementing a separate, test version of DACs, allowing every active player to invite a friend to try Dual Universe free for one month.
These Summer DACs are separate from real DACs, and will not impact your accrued pool of DACs from crowdfunding packages when gifted.
One Summer DAC will be given to every active player and can only be redeemed by new accounts not yet subscribed to the game. They will expire by the end of the summer if not used. Summer DACs should allow us to test our web-based DAC system before the game’s release while offering your friends a chance to try the game for free!

    NOVEAN OVERVIEW

We're adding an in-game interface which provides an overview of your general account information and unlocked possessions. We’ll expand this feature moving forward, but in Mercury, you’ll be able to see your unlocked cosmetic skins in a dedicated tab.

    LUA API

Our vision for Lua has evolved over the years and with the new directions we’ve taken, it’s become necessary to entirely revamp our Lua API. These changes will future-proof the API and make it better serve the game by improving and tidying the system. We’re starting this process in Mercury.

Naturally, such a major change will come with an enormous changelog, but to give you a brief overview of what’s coming ahead, we’re going to:

Restructure the entire Lua API Prepare an object-oriented approach to be ready for future evolutions. Reduce the use of JSON in the API to favor the use of real Lua tables. Rely more on event-driven code to reduce player loops and server requests. Reduce the complexity and size of scripts Add some of the, ‘nice to have,’ features Add further points of interest to some elements such as the telemeter.
To summarize, our goal with this update is to reset the API and prepare it for future evolutions. Rest assured that your codes will still work in Mercury and that we’ll give you ample time to adapt your creations.

    TALENT POINT RESET

Every character will have their talent points refunded back to their pool with the Mercury Update. While we must perform this reset for technical reasons related to upgrading our systems, this is also an opportunity for players to refocus talents into different areas and try new ‘builds’, or to simply correct training away from unwanted talents.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As always, we’ll publish a series of articles delving deeper into Mercury’s features, but for now, thank you for reading, Noveans! We’re excited to move forward with Mercury and are eager to hear your thoughts in this forum thread.

Haunty reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Hey NQ how is that Wipe Discussion Going?
    - Was the wipe decided months ago? No. There are still some scenarios without a wipe and some scenarios with a wipe being discussed. Some may have a personal belief on the topic. That doesn't mean their belief is the reality.
    - Are you making any progress? Yes.
    - Are any of the wipe details confirmed yet? As the final decision hasn't been made yet, it's difficult to share any relevant detail.
    - Which things can you say are certain? For the reason explained above, we can't say anything at the moment.
    - Is there a proposed launch date yet? No, we don't have any info to share on the topic at the moment.
We (the whole Novaquark team) do know that not being able to give you any information of the topic yet is less than ideal and we do understand your frustration. Once we will have all the information on the topic, we will share it with you as soon as possible. In the meantime, please stick to the already existing forum threads, "Shedding Light On a Novaquark Discussion" and "Ongoing Discussions". Opening new threads on the topic won't make the answer come faster and will just be closed the same way as the previous ones.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

A lot of pvp-groups disagree with you, and burn egregious amounts of cells scouting for people to shoot.

As for there being a lot of people on Alioth... If I had to guess it is more because travel between planets is easy, and resources are relatively close. Near about anything that is for sale can be found on Alioth, so all the buyers go there (in turn attracting even more sellers). Look at EVE's star-map, you'll see a lot of systems with next to no activity (even in high-sec space), but Jita will always be a crowded mess because that's where people have decided to buy and sell their stuff. Alioth is our Jita.

On top of that, if someone needs to go to any other planet in the system it is only one jump away. It is functionally the center of the system, from there you can go anywhere if you want.

New players also tend to collect there, as they are not limited to just operating in their own sanct/haven tiles and the shuttles allow them to go back and forth without having to learn/manage interplanetary flight.

Cell-cost is fine. If you want people to spread out then you need to give them a reason to do so.
