Hello all, a new interview is up earlier than expected on Outpost Zebra! This time it is the friendly @Kurock having a nice chat with the leaders of The Federation Alpha: President Ginger and Prime Minister Chrissi. Have a read, and leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

    Interview can be found here.

Well done in this one. I loved it. When is the next release?

    Welcome to Tri Galaxy!

Usually, I welcome people with a shitpost. Today is the usual.

Everybody asks me, "How are you such a waste of space?" To which I usually reply "gib like or repoart!"

That has not happened yet, but I have dreams.

I'm part of the ATV who has, in fact, only played Dual Universe for 5 minutes. Call me a reporter at IGN because I do not know how shit works.

I'm testing out new profile pictures so please, somebody let me know if somebody actually likes the legendary "OwO Thonk", which has been passed down generations.

My great-great-great-spiritual wolf grandmother has talked me about the legacy of the OwO and the Thonkers, which she managed to unite under one flag, the OwO Thonk.

Unfortunately, some heretics tend to appropriate our name. The Thonkception, the Tri-Thonkitops, and the Thonk-isphere are just fragments of the OwO-Thonk Alliance's religion, the The Awoken ThOwOnk.

You may be wondering "how does something several centuries years old talk to Kuritho?" and that's by the ritual called "DISCORDIA". DISCORDIA is a very dangerous ritual which I use very often. First, you must sacrifice a fragment of power of the universe and use a communicating device to formulate a message with digits to make digits.

These digits must be spent at the speed of light via cords made of hell-sand.

Please, follow the correct path and join BOO- because I may've sold my soul to them.

Remember, Team AyyMD than team Shintel and their mayo TIM.

    OwO

also welcome to the forums, Bridget.

Greetings! Apologise for the translator, getting a bit rusty.

I am SpaceCat, the one and only from outer space. I am originally from this world, from Europe, but due to a rocket failure, I ended up in a wormhole, bla bla bla, skip 23 years, hear I am back on earth, completely modified, kinda like your "Rocket" from Marvel.

I look forward in playing the game with you all.

    Cat out!

Welcome to the forums, Sir Cat. Happy meowing.

Almost every organization is bound to collapse within first several days of being in the release.

    Reasons:
Too big to manage, which causes resource and leadership problems. Half-Senders, I'm ready to laugh at your inevitable downfall.

    Too many inactives

    Too many """rules and laws"""

Not enough time to expand naturally

    Lack of proper leadership architecture

Industrial organizations won't have proper infrastructure.

Ship building organizations are going to be a complete and utter joke early game.

    Research organizations... just... why?

    Sleeper orgs: DoA.

Exodus fleets need ships and materials, which cannot be supplied until several months into the game.

"And they hated Jesus, for he told the truth."

I know it sounds cliched and dumb, but the ashes of those orgs make actual ones. Ones that function properly.

Organizations that "consume and adapt" (Like BOO, because they know how this shit works) are the proto-orgs that will survive.

    You, I love you.

As I see it I would not worry too much. The 'Organizational landscape' will change drastically once it becomes apparent that running an org is not easy and requires RL skills, effort and a _lot_ of time. Many current orgs are fairly loosely knit communities where infighting and general disagreements will cause breakup of some of the bigger ones very soon after the game starts going.

The current framework is mostly a placeholder IMO and while there are a few solid, well organized ones, these are generally specialized and not the dime a dozen 'we will kill you if we want your land and you do not submit' type of which there are too many.

Also it's interesting how so many seem to think that just setting up a military or government style leadership structure will make things work.. A title is just that unless the person holding it understands what it means to bear it.

Agreed. If you don't know what you are doing and your organization isn't organized and planned, you are doomed to fail...miserably. ^^

    Shiori explained it the best.

But timewise ... do mind we don't know how long it takes for a solo player to get everything together for a basic spaceship with possible ftl capacity.

It might be a bit longer then a few weeks, as that is closer to the "endgame" level of tech probably. Not that there's an endgame, as it's open ended.

Try crafting an extra resurrection node while soloing. You'll know how fast or slow you are progressing compared to an organization.

The only way you could even think of having food in a game like this is when we get full-dive technology where I can taste, smell, etc (aka never). This isn't a survival game- it's a emergent roleplaying MMO.

What's the difference between eating literal shit and the best food ever in a game apart from stats?

    *cough* Link *cough* Start?

    Welcome to Dual Universe.

Now, you may be wondering "who is this sexy Kuritho dude?"

    And that's an excellent question!

Kuritho is (unarguably) one of the coolest people on the forums. Kuritho is soooo cool that she sometimes speaks in 3rd person. Isn't that amazing?

He's so cool that she mixes up their pronouns to be unique. Now that's dope.

    Also, pay your taxes.

You can tax me hard, anytime you want.

Welcome Ati to the forums. Hope you enjoy your stay.

I also like the idea of buffs, even though it’s kind of a ‘soft debuff’. I think the two key things would be:

    1. The buffs are based on consumables, are are temporary but substantial.

    2. Making good buff items requires high skill specialization in a particular skill category. This both opens up another ‘job’ within the game, and will make it so the people most likely to use buffs (combatants, probably) will have to buy them.

I think maximizing the number of jobs in DU’s industry is important, but that forcing players to engage with everything will take away the fun of specialization and turn new players away from the game.

    Just my $0.02.

Buffs eh? I support this idea! Later then, Players can create a wide variety of commodities such as tea, coffee, beer or anything goes down the line.

Please no survival additions, there are enough games in development that are marketed like that. DU is not.

But to still give positive feedback:

    • Hunger, make it a buf that makes you run/work harder
    • Thirst, see hunger
    • Disease, could be interesting, but nothing lethal, flu or something that makes a planet ofr region work slower/run slower would be a thing
    • Oxygen, yes and no, adding oxigen makes it more real but also will add to server complexity
    • Radiation, I wanted to say no, but it could be rather interesting to add this, if someone then nukes a place or a meltdown occures the surrounding area is kinda worthless. Could be a thing in warfare
    • Bleeding, make it a buff as hunger

And as said previous, there are alot of items about this

Solar radiation, yes it's interesting. As for nukes, Lord JC has said there will be no mass destruction weapons. We have to keep in mind that Dual Universe is not a survival game but a first person based sandbox sci-fi and civilization MMORPG.
