    A Quick Recap

I should post here a little more often. Thanks to NQ for clarifying the necro rule on org-registry threads!

Well we're now just over one solid month into Alpha 2. I think it's high time to do a quick recap on how things are going with Eyes & Ears.

Starting out as a mere idea in Pre-Alpha and fleshing out in mid-2018, the idea of a rescue focused organization was something I never thought I'd find myself doing in Dual Universe.

In the early days of Alpha 1, Eyes & Ears made it's first official Alpha-1 rescue, Glavies. Throughout Alpha 1, the organization would answer a handful of distress calls from solo players that crashed their ships and were unable to repair or had simply run out of fuel.

The highlight of Alpha 1 would turn out to be the Ministry organizations craft The Rex Liberata having run out of fuel with Bramse, PirateTrader, and WhiteMEat on board. Their anti-gravity craft was brought to a stop a little over 50 SU from Alioth and while a flight to them would have been easy enough, NovaQuark was intent on having them rolling ASAP. With Stormeyes assistance and some fancy teleportation, The Rex Liberata was refueled and it's crew were once more on their way.

Further rescues would be performed in the lead up to Alpha 2. The week after Alpha 2's launch, two back to back rescues would be performed.

The first rescue was simply returning a grounded tester to a construct they respawned from in Alioths orbit.

After some time spent debugging their craft, a second call came in from a tester flying to another planet. Unfortunately due to problems out of their control, they were unable to make it all the way with the fuel they had on hand so more was flown out to them and they were able to safely land.

Through these activities during tests, Eyes & Ears - Search And Rescue has successfully run 14 rescues in Alpha 1, and thus far, two rescues in Alpha 2. Our membership has also ticked up to eight members. Additionally two organizations, Vulture Cooperation and DYNAMIC AEROSPACE INDUSTRIES have formed partnerships while Albatross Inc in discussion with us. Eyes & Ears has also tentatively acquired a launching platform in Tortuga City. Details haven't been ironed out but we hope this location will make a great first location off Alioth from which we can launch rescue operations from.

If your organization would like to form a partnership with us, feel free to get in touch with me privately and we can discuss things.

Alpha 2 is looking bright so far even though I've been personally hampered with hardware issues and have been unable to participate in recent testing. Just because I am down, however, does not mean the rest of the team is out! If you ever find yourself in trouble on the test server, feel free to enter the '911' channel. Since it's hard to see if anyone's actually listening, another option would be to head over to our Discord. Friendly chat is also always welcome so stop by and say hi, we don't bite!

Outside of testing, things have been quite mild. Earlier this summer, the Eyes & Ears website has seen a minor face lift in its design and a few things like parallax backgrounds were removed to simplify the design. The 'Our History' and 'Media' pages (with signs by @Geo, and an inspired logo by @Spiridon, thanks again both of you!) are both fairly new so check them out!

'Stats & Stories' has been filled out with 12 separate pieces of feedback by those who have used our service, check that out as well.

    That about wraps things up.

    Safe flying,
    DarkHorizon

What if, instead, it temporarily boosted one ability, but made you dependent on it as in , for example, giving you temporary(say, 2 weeks?) massive debuffs if you don't take your next dose. It would also slowly permanently degrade all of your other abilities, slowly but steadily. This way, orgs try and prevent their citizens from taking the drugs, because they prevent the players from being useful to the org in ways other than that one, and are also very expensive. It would be good if all of the degrading of abilities is permanent, so as to discourage taking them in the first place, so that nq feels they are teaching a moral lesson, and also nobody feels they are encouraging the use of drugs, and sues them.

Is using several cores really a problem? And the number needed depends on the size of the core. I believe the ability to align cores is planned, which would make it easier.
Or with adequate terraforming tools, you could just use terrain voxels to make roads.

Border security will likely  be a large part of DU. With lua compatible blocks functioning similar to a real life metal detector it would make for some very unique creations. Some ideas include:

Border checkpoint with flashing lights if a weapon is passed through.

Storage facility checking for stolen parts or ores. Locking doors if it is found.

Certain skills could even help you bypass them somehow. Please give me your thoughts.

Hey Jared, very fascinating, you've got my gears winding up now  :3

I believe the charge element refers more to a constant supply of electricity, like you say though, maybe the device could store several ready-to-go respawn charges before needing more electricity.
Think if a spy sneaked in and cut the power cord somewhere. Instead of simply destroying the R-Node because the spy, or the spy's guild can capture it later for its wealth.

The way it works is simple: you first need to set up the node, except the one of the Arkship, which is always ready to use. A Resurrection Node is a power hungry machine (remember, the beast is twisting the fabric of the quantum multiverse space-time topology

What is -possibly- happening is this machine somehow monitors for your death, and it is able to save your fundamental 'spark' your consciousness whatever it is that makes you, you, it doesnt care about your memories or knowledge per say, just saving the core essence.
In the regeneration of the body, it eats a massive ammount of power to distort the fabric of time-space to make a copy of the past, or even a seperate dimension. and puts "the you from 5 seconds ago" into the world, as it is reconstructing all the particles, it dumps your 'core spark' into this new body.

That body may or may not have built a Super Duper Proton Gun last week, or it could be a body from 5 days ago that never learned Herbology level 3. It might be a body from a different, nearby, dimension that didnt build any body armor.
    just speculating though.

    Dear community members,

A few weeks ago, we took a stance regarding “out of the game”/IRL-related practices to discredit, threaten or shame publicly another Community Member (even if the involved person is guilty of several infractions) that could be an opponent in-game.

As the DSI (Dark Star Imperium) / TSU (Trinary Star Union)  / UEE (United Earth Empire) case blew out of proportion during January, we investigated.

We are really serious about differentiating real life from the game itself. Unfortunately some didn’t take our stance seriously. We gave them a chance to come clean in a private discussion and restart on an healthier basis. They didn’t take the opportunity for what it was: a last chance.
As they preferred “playing dumb” with Novaquark staff, we can’t have any trust that they won’t continue. Therefore we have decided to ban permanently those Community Members for various reasons (all not being banned for the same reason(s)):
Not being honest towards Novaquark staff. Making and encouraging ghost accounts. Abusive recruitment practices. Practising real life harassment and/or threatening another player. Making false report to Novaquark’s Customer Support in an attempt to make ban someone they dislike. Spreading real life information without the involved person’s consent, aka Doxxing.
(strong reminder: even if a person gives you real life information about him/her, it’s not okay to share these information with ANYONE else without his/her consent. You can’t predict how the other person(s) will use this information and if he/she/they won’t share it again. If some trouble occurs following this sharing, you can be held legally responsible).

This might seem an extreme sanction but this shows how serious we are when we say we are not going to let toxic attitude and practices spread in the Community. Our goal to build a healthy and friendly community isn’t just a figure of speech. Anyone caught to spread or encourage any toxic behavior will be removed from the Community as it will be considered as damaging the Community and negating Novaquark staff efforts (without saying that it’s time consuming and a waste of our resources).

Saying it’s a long time grudge coming from before the arrival in the Dual Universe community is absolutely not a valid excuse. If someone has a personal grudge with another community member, he/she should either:
Leave it at the doorstep and/or settle it in private and peacefully with no one else involved. Contact directly (and only) Novaquark staff if the issue persists.
The moment someone uses the Dual Universe community as a tool for IRL revenge, he/she is not welcome anymore. We’re all here to have fun. It should always stay that way.

Therefore, the following Community Members have been permanently banned from the Community:
    Lime / Fullsend / mmtheboss / Sakej99 [DSI] Primarch Zelevas / TharisUEE Melkor_Morgoth
In addition the DSI Organization member list has been reset, and the Novaquark Team has appointed CN_Firestorm as the new owner of the Organization, should he accept to take a fresh start on a healthy basis.

We also give a warning to all those who were indirectly involved (with the evidence we found) but not actively participating in the recent community troubles. Next time, there won’t be any new warning. If you become involved against your will in some shady real life activities, you have only two healthy options:
Leaving the group doing such activity immediately. Report it to Novaquark staff.
If you stay in such group without leaving or reporting it and the group is caught, you take the risk to get the same sanction as those actively involved.
This investigation has taken (or more precisely wasted) a lot of time from Novaquark staff. We really don’t like to intervene in players affairs. However, if there is a chance that such affairs damage the Community by toxic behavior, you can expect Novaquark staff to step in. We hope we won’t have to take the same measures again.

    Best regards,
    The Novaquark Team.

I personally see player character persistence as "off-putting factor" in the larger picture or on an abstract level.

On one hand, I never had much experience with it. But by just looking at the concept it seems clear to me that it would be off-putting to people who are not into some sort of hardcore PVP or survival mindset including "sleeping characters" when you are offline. Your base and assets being out there any time? That's normal for most games. The character remaining and being attackable? Not so common.

All in all, I doubt we get to see this, at least not applied to all. So far my assessment, purely based on gut feeling, is that NQ would possibly lose players and the "abstract damage" might not justify the "pleased crowd". I also do not know what the impact on server load might be in the grand scheme of things.

The risk averse crowd might decide to purely be restricted to safe zones, any more casual oriented players in either gameplay approach or time investment frame might shit their pants at work or wherever, wondering if they char is still up if they somehow had to play and log out beyond safe zones. The limited safe zones might get potentially packed or be 'abused' in the sense of people just logging out there, making them untouchable, if any of those are within reach.

Since someone mentioned combat logging, a compromise would be a timer applied to your character. Whether you wait for it to go down or log out immediately, your character will persist for that time.

What we need to understand before processing the AI idea is :
Havin an AI controlling your character means constantly heavier server load,
They are not going to make mining automatable,
Selling stuff offline means botting the market
If they are not able to defend properly and the AI goes statistics for defense solving, it's going to put people in trouble, or force them to leave base to disconnect.

Not saying these issues can't be limited/configured...

Now to get specific on the issue of persistence, you could have like a "pod" to sleep in, where no one can loot or kill you unless they destroy said "pod", the character just sleeps on the ground otherwise, or any place (ships, roofs, whatever). Shouldn't be able to sleep underwater/floating in space tho...
For now i'm about sure it's not priority, gameplay wise i think it's an interesting matter, why making rooms/safeplaces if you can just pop in and out? where the subject is the most sensitive is about higher tier stuff... should you be able to log off and disappear with these, and then having the issue of safe transportation in dangerous conditions unbalancing the game??

Can't see anything about this in the Trello. Ideas?

And don't let yourself be told off from your idea.
Some people just don't understand Space in itself ... as long as you have protection at the location you want to unload and load your cargo, everything will be fine.

And booians, as far as i am concerned, aren't rocket scientists ...
It's incredible hard to catch a target in space~ Just be prepared to defend yourself and your cargo when you're close to planets/ orbital stations. And even then ... you probably have 3~10 trys to learn it. As people will need to learn how to attack someone who's standing still, without shooting past them as a comet and burning up in atmosphere.

AS in fact, you probably should be stationed close to that Atmosphere to Space Orbit for dropping off cargo into waiting hands of your costumers.

    Good luck and god speed.

situation one: people need mass transport, especially to large city's. Single person travel will be expensive and lengthy due to the fuel costs, not to mention if someone gets lost or their ships breaks down. The New Horizon does this on a large scale to minimize the costs for the average player.

situation two: Running out of fuel isn't an issue, We will stock up before every voyage and make sure nothing happens. We aren't stupid and will plan ahead before every voyage.

situation three: Raiding is certainly something to consider, why do you think I'm recruiting security teams and escort ships? I wouldn't do this blindly and its going to take place far after launch.

Besides people that can't dream never achieve anything, wait til after launch  and you might see The New Horizon  doing great things. If you wish to bring this further I invite you to the discord.

Hello! I am a tech-demo tester for an upcoming space sim called Galaxy4D.
I have come to Dual Universe's forums to spread the word of this game.

So, Galaxy4D can be somewhat compared to Dual Universe. They are both space games, they are both multiplayer, and they both have building mechanics.
There are many differences, though. For example, I will list the main feature set shown on https://galaxy4d.com/

Full scale Galaxy with more than 100 billion stars Trillions of realistic size planets you can walk on Immersive first person game with AAA graphics Seamless transitions between surface and orbit No skybox, Everything you see, you can touch Play Solo, with friends or hundreds of people Walk anywhere and interact with everything Real-time orbital physics for EVERYTHING A truly interactive multiplayer open world Build your own habitat, rover, spaceships... Real thermodynamics and space physics Electronics and In-game programming Very complex build/crafting system Navigate without any velocity limit
Please do note that some of these features have not been implemented, such as the building system. After all, the game hasn't even reached pre-alpha status. We have only had two tech demos so far.
Also, there is only one developer of this game. He's making Galaxy4D out of passion, not profit.

Unlike DU, Galaxy4D will be a very, and I mean very challenging game. It won't be for everyone. The game is meant to simulate real life, albeit in space with a whole galaxy to explore.

Also, Galaxy4D will be very realistic, and won't compare to arcade-style space-sims such as No Man's Sky. The planets in Galaxy4D actually orbit around their parent-stars, and they are very, very large planets. They can range from very small to the size of Jupiter, and probably past that.
For example, While participating in the second Tech Demo, I was walking on a very large mountain, approximately half the size of Mt. Everest, and I walked near a ledge, and my heart dropped in real life. That shows the sheer scale of this game.

I have listed below four pictures of the latest tech demo. I would add more, but there is an image limit.

Overall, I believe that this game has a lot of potential.

    Check out the game at:
    https://galaxy4d.com/portal.php

Check out the development at Galaxy4D's official Trello page:
    https://trello.com/b/2BPytpD9/galaxy4d-roadmap

I hope to see all of you at the forums!

Ask any questions below, I will be happy to answer!

    Tilo's partners community expansion:
    Tilans, Tilkoop and Coi

The micronation presents new social and bussiness features, options intended to boost the benefits, empowerment and enjoyment of its partners.

    TILANS
Tilans are -properly- people from Tilo, meaning partners-members who are aswell part of Tilkoop (Tilo's cooperative), thus having the permission to reside in a territory or enclave belonging to the micronation, completely free of taxes. So, anytime they want, there they can build and own their dwelling, room, workshop or industrial warehouse. A tilan is also eligible by the Assembly to perform any position within the normative framework of the Tilo Foundation Charter. Being a tilan resident in Tilo is something compatible with being resident in the territories of other neutral organizations.

    TILKOOP and COI
Every partner-member of the micronation can enter Tilkoop. Being associated to the cooperative, allows any member to be recognized as a tilan and a verified and reliable partner for commercial, industrial and business activities of all kinds, inside and outside Tilo. In the scope of Tilkoop, tilans can freely establish the agreements they deem appropriate among themselves.
Within Tilkoop, tilans who wish may also be part of the COI (acronym term from cell-organ-individual), Tilo's own economic model, where in general terms, people freely and officialy agree on being mutual and preferential providers and clients regarding all kinds of materials or goods they may dispose or/and need at any given moment, at standard (or cheaper) market prices for each product. This is compatible with other simile agreements involving other individuals or organizations.

    Introduction to the COI
Tilo's Biokoop or simply Coi is an inherent part of the micronational culture and idiosyncrasy; it's the tilans bio-cooperative, which they can use to boost their trade and increase their income -individually and collectively-, all in accordance with the common good, based on trust, mutual help and reciprocity.
Conceived as a living systems system, where each part works -at the same time- as cell, organ and individual, Coi resembles the functioning of living beings or systems, both internally and externally, in interaction with other beings of their environment (of the same species, although not necessarily). In this way, Coi also reflects its efficiency, adaptation, optimization of resources, coordination, simplification of actions and, ultimately, efficiency and effiective results.

If you're already a partner, contact Alsan Teamaro, or join Tilo to enjoy being tilian!

    1. Sovereignty Integral of Tilo (SIT) can be defined as a non-state socio-community, cooperative, associative, assambleary and self-managed micronation, within the normative frame of the Foundation Charter of Tilo.
Article 1, Foundation Charter of Tilo.

I like this idea, sounds great. Do you have a design in mind for how the ship will look? would love to see it.

Also, I would consider making the ship a space bound ship only. meaning it wouldn't ever land on planet/moons. The reason why is because it takes allot of fuel and power to get something really big off the surface and into orbit, so it really would not make much since to waste most or you're resources just trying to get off the planet, before you even start a long voyage. It seems like It would be better to have smaller ships docked aboard, that can go down to the surface while the ship stays in orbit, maybe docked to a station or something. Just a thought.

Different attitudes here... I personally rely more in the constructive (and healthy) ones, anyway. Regardless what will actually happen with the projects. No one knows. But you can walk the way with the affine people you can find. Then, your possibilities to achieve things (individually or colectively) will grow up. That's my view. Well, let’s state some hard truth as well:

How many orgs are just talking about their grand plans with the game 2 years from release believe that it will go exactly as planned?

How many orgs are expecting their members to perform an exact job they are assigned to do, throwing the rest of the game aspects away?
    that won’t happen!

How many orgs are expecting to build up a mega city and not to get blown up half way into it by another org that forms up on the day of release and looking to just build ship and pvp?
    that won’t happen!

How many orgs are expecting to be a company designing ships, but have absolutely zero infrastructure and no one “feeding” them resources?

how many orgs are signing contracts and treaties and dreaming that the two parties will keep the contract intact for the next two years?

The horizon project might seem absurd, but he’s just dreaming like pretty much every single orgs are doing right now. With the game this far away from release, all talks are dream talks and I don’t see any problem with it
