  1. I really hope that they balance certain items to have significant downsides as well as buffs to account for the lack of NPCs. Besides drugs, I think weapon smuggling will still be very profitable. Once organizations get bigger and bigger, they will inevitably expand into areas where PvP is active. I don't know if every city would feel comfortable allowing all their citizens to possibly have a weapon capable of mowing down people in the street. Even if it is a PvP active area, the organization will want their cities to have some sense of safety associated with them.
  2. The title is kind of silly, but it is a legitimate question. Any item that is perceived to be "non-civilian" could have an impact on how trade evolves in the game, and which organizations players choose to join. Based on one's wants and needs, trade will be an important factor in a player's choice of organization. Some may be drawn to an organization of outlaws because of the free trade of hard to obtain items, while some may want a stable trade system that comes from a rigidly structured organization.
  3. I think depending on the effects of it and how popular it is, some organizations may choose to ban it. Imagine if there's a drug that blurs your vision and all of your pilots decide to get high. Then an enemy organization attacks and all your pilots are half blind. Like I said, depending on the effects and popularity, it may or may not cause problems within an organization.
  4. Well, space weed is almost exactly the same as the normal weed we grow on Earth, except its in space.

  9. This system that Aaron told me about seems to be the best way to include players who don't wish to PvP. I do think that PvP will somewhat be centered around STUs, as sort of "safe zones" in a metaphorical game of tag. The services inside an STU don't have to directly be PvP. Markets, politics, and trading are all just as important as PvP and are the main activities I see the STU areas accomplishing. This is why I see them as so powerful, and thus, hard to obtain. However, it wouldn't be worth it to sit around and create buildings for no reason, so I guess the hope is for the players to create the value of an STU for themselves with the incentive to not have an STU for no reason. I'm sure many players will strictly deal inside STUs and become wildly successful in the game with enough work.
  10. Thank you for the info. This seems like a good method, since I can see a successful STU area paying off the cost of the STU in eventuality. The free STU is also good in my opinion, as it gives new players the chance to establish themselves. Its assumed that all of this is subject to change, but that system seems perfect.
  11. My main concern is how difficult it is to obtain an STU. This will impact my decision on which founder pack I want to get. Although Sanctuary moons won't have any ores, its obvious that ores are not the only things that will be of value in DU. Having a safe place to provide services to other players is a very powerful tool, especially right at the game launch. By establishing your STU zone early on, you could easily create a recognizable and reputable area for many services such as shops, trade outposts, and residential areas. Although in the early game STUs may have little impact, being one of the first to establish one is a great way to own one that competes with other STUs in the late game. I'm assuming something this powerful will be hard to obtain, and my perceptual worth of each founder pack depends partly on just how hard it is to obtain one.
  12. Just wondering before I decide on which pack I buy, will the Sanctuary Territory Unit (STU) be a sponsor pack only item? And if it is not, how difficult is it planned to be in order to gain one. It really does seem to be a big advantage to own one, especially if they are exclusive to the sponsor packs. Any information on how STUs function would be appreciated, thanks.
  13. Hello there, I call myself Excavy. My name is basically a made up word, much like other online names. it specially suits me however, due to the parts "ex" and "cavy" meaning "former prisoner" when simplified. I don't let rules make me their prisoner, and I certainly don't take any prisoners either. This game seems like a fitting place for me. I've been looking for a game like this for a while now. I've played games such as World of Warcraft and EVE Online, but they never gave me the feeling of accomplishment I was looking for. I got in too late, with everybody already ahead of me. Being a competitive person, this restricted me from fully enjoying the MMORPGs I played. This game seems like the perfect place to finally make my mark and accomplish something I can be proud of. Like I said, I'm a very competitive person. This got me into competitive FPS games early on. I have over 2,100 hours played on Counter Strike: Global Offensive and over 1,300 hours played on Overwatch. Unlike MMORPGs, they felt like you could jump in, and no matter how behind you were, you could always learn and become the best. I always had a goal in mind that I knew would reward me. That is the other reason I am drawn to this game. Not only is it an opportunity to be in a game with a head start, but the game's chaotic nature allows for there to always be a chance to get on top. And with the vast economical and political landscape, your options are never limited to simply grinding. It makes something that I hope will be a freeing and fun experience. Now, I've been in the "No Man's Sky hypetrain" situation many times before. Hell, I even pre-ordered No Man's Sky for the same reasons I appreciate this game. Unfortunately, it turned from a vast MMORPG into a half-decent survival game. But, I've been watching this game for 2 years now. I hesitated for a long time on this game, thinking, "it probably isn't the best idea to spend a pretty penny on just another space MMORPG project." Everybody was doing the same thing. But unlike the others, this game has yet to even come out of Pre-Alpha. This to me shows that its goals are not to profit, but rather to actually try to make their vision into reality. I still can't be sure how successful the game will be once it fully launches, but I've waited long enough to get on the ride. Now is when I join the rest of you. I'd be glad to talk with anyone here. This is somewhat a new experience for me, and it doesn't hurt to get to know people. Just don't be to quick to trust me, because I'm not a prisoner to any rules
