Tnecniw got a reaction from Thoger in Tech Research
I think two things
1: The tech research should exist on EITHER a guild level or a player level, take warframe for example, where you can research for your clan and such.
2: I hope it is more a case of WORK then a case of waiting, cause that is SUPER annoying.
Like research goes further as you work with new metals, new plants and new designs and such.

Tnecniw reacted to Anaximander in What are skills? and how do they work?
The way I see it.
You get a sniper rifle.
You use the sniper rifle.
You get better at shooting shit from a distance.
You keep shooting things from a distance and getting better.
Congrats, you mastered the art of murder from 5 kilometers away.
Now, let's start with assault rifles.

Tnecniw reacted to Anaximander in Subscription should not be its pay model
@Tierless
OR , take for example Planetside 2. 74 skins in 3 months, all of them LOOK, EXACTLY, THE SAME. Cheaters run rampart because of F2P bullshit and of course, lack of content. I will take subscription over anything if it means the game will have content and will deter trolls from hopping in and ruining peoples' fun.

As much as I am for a full sandbox game. I can live without a group of players who's sole purpose is to grief others and try and break the game. I hope the devs feel the same way.

Trust me... it is MUCH better to not have younger players. Especially a game that likely will be very voice-chat related.
But I am very interested in this topic. I mean, as long as they DON'T have any form of cashshop (except "time" purchases) am I completely fine with Sub model.

Tnecniw got a reaction from Kiklix in Subscription should not be its pay model
This sounds like a good system.
Subscription is maybe a bit oldschool, but it allows a developer to fully and REALLY devote alot of work and experience to the game.
Do you really think that World of Warcraft would have been so big if it didn't have its Sub model? Due to all the money it gained with all its players, it basicly elevated Blizzard into one of the absolute biggest companies allowing them to make amazing content (then WoD happend and we won't talk about WoD)
Anyway... you get the point, a sub model is the best model if you want to make a MASSIVE MMO of this scale.

Tnecniw reacted to Anaximander in Space Combat
@Tnecniw
I read they are working on collision physics in the game engine or something. Perhaps projectiles will have to make direct contact to damage you and possibly battleships will have an actual role as "tanks". Hopefully the game won't be a point and click adventure like EVE is.

Oooh, if we can design our own costumes and such that would be incredible... I would make my own stormtroopers :3

*Shrugs* Can be hard to do that if you are new xD

I can see a tabtargeting system work...
IF the movement is actionbased combined with that weapons have limited arcs.
The issue with EVE is that it honestly don't matter where you are, you can still be shot as long as you are within the range orb.
BUT if they made this the case, then the combat wouldn't be so much about ATTACKING as it would be with movement, which would make it very interesting.

Tnecniw reacted to Anaximander in Tech Research
Research should be experimental, not a bar with a timer. You either Git Gud at making cool shit or go mining. And I can see experience voxelomancers do insane things. Things that not many can replicate.
And please, no EVE wait-five-mins-to-learn-shit logic. It's so 2003.

Imagine player resturants with in game voice chat, like in arma. That would be awesome.

Tnecniw reacted to TranquilClaws in Space Combat
The problem with ark weapons is that electrical currents caused by lightning only travel along the outside of surfaces that they touch. Basically they just don't harm ships in space, however I could see them being added as an anti-infantry weapon and for overloading energized armor. The other problem with them is the immense energy requirements, but hey it's Sci-fi so who cares.
Tesla weapons are now on the list.

Tnecniw got a reaction from Vyz Ejstu in Mineing to create underground cities
*the liutenant looks at the captain*
"But what is wrong with the digital newspaper? it is still the same thi..."
*the captain turns around angrily*
"IT IS NOT THE SAME THING! Trust me, after 50 years of reading newspaper, I know the diffrence!"
*He frowns* and it wasn't JUST the newspaper... my ship. He litterally BURRIED IT! I JUST BOUGHT THE SHIP TOO!
*the captain clearly hates this Scruggs"

Tnecniw got a reaction from Scruggs in Mineing to create underground cities
*Liutenant shakes in fear*
"I have heard that name only in horrifying tales, sir... who is this "scruggs""
"He is a cowardly weakling, that tries to avoid combat by digging holes... which wouldn't be so bad if PEOPLE DIDN'T FALL DOWN INTO THEM ALL THE TIME!"
"but sir, why does people fall into them, I mean, can't they avoid them?"
*The liutenant sounds confused, while the captain turns to him*
"You don't understand, he digs them in the most ABNOXIOUS of places. Once, I opened my door one morning, and it was placed RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DOOR!"
*the captain turns back to the planetarygrid*
"I could never really get my newspaper after that, I had to start using the internet for my daily news"
*The captain clenches his fist in rage*

You are evil...
"SIR! we found something strange!"
"What is it!"
"It is a row of strange holes, sir!"
"Holes... I know only one man who would DARE dig holes on my planet! *dramatic pause* SCRUGGS!"
*Liutenant gasps in horror*
-
Tnecniw reacted to Scruggs in Mineing to create underground cities
Exactly why I'll dig them everywhere, you won't know which one will lead to your quick death or which will lead to a pool of water and an underground lab, factory or city
-
Tnecniw got a reaction from Scruggs in Mineing to create underground cities
I mean, It shouldn't be that difficult to build underground cities / factories / secret laboratories

Whether you replace animal veins and entrails with mechanical parts or replace ship electronics with space animal parts, it would be a win/win

Well, this faction sounds very interesting.
I would like to sign up, freelancer Engineer/R&D and whatever is fun/needed atm.
RL Skills:
- Programming C, C#, LUA,...
- learning Mechanical engineering
- will to design things for one specific need
I have a few Ideas on what to tinker, already. But I am not sure how much time I can opt in on a regular base, thus freelancer.
And also change of stuff to do at times. Just doing R&D would get boring.

Tnecniw reacted to SkilledStealth in Subscription should not be its pay model
Personally I feel the p2p mode and being a sub is a great idea especially for this game. People can come check out the game with a free trial and if they like it they can sub, this helps people get a feel for the game and also helps keep trolls away somewhat coz theyd have to pay a monthly fee to grief people if thats what they wanted to do. Therefore the actual comunity can enjoy the game and the devs also can create additional content along the way. I would have no problem subbing to this game and getting really into (takes a lot of time to make a planet size city so i need to get to work haha) and will definitely help at the crowd funding stage as I really want to see this game take off and dominate the stars. XD
