i would suggest to reconsider the "for a single fuel tank"  bit.
a problem that all advanced Flight Huds have is the number of links on the control units. mainly the fuel tanks are the limiting factor, as whenever you have a bigger number of fuel tanks, those consume so many links, that we are unable to link all elements needed to control the ship to a single seat.  there are some workarounds in place, like not linking the fuel tanks and going via core and talent levels to try to get the correct amount of fuel in each of the fuel containers. but this is painful, difficult and honestly nothing we should have to do.

Just implement this change as a fuel "hub" allowing 10 fuel containers per fuel type to be accessed via one link and the problem would be solved, and wouldn't cause a risk, like increasing the general number of allowed links might do.

    Hagbard.

Hello, everyone! I'm Mark van den Heuvel, known to many of you as NQ-Deckard, a member of the Production team here at Novaquark.

First, to those of you who celebrated your new year recently, I wish you a wonderful new year, and I look forward to seeing all of your creations in-game. As we step into 2023, I want to bring you all up to speed on where we're at with Dual Universe and where we are going.

After our launch last September, we have all worked hard to squash remaining bugs and improve balancing. We also delivered the promised digital Kickstarter rewards to our backers.

As is always the case with Dual Universe, work does create itself in front of us, and we have a great deal to work on and improve. One of our current central goals is to enhance the gameplay experience and catch up with some features and quality-of-life improvements, particularly some of those requested by our community.

Let me walk you through some of what we have planned for you both soon and further down the road.

    Planets

We’ve recently released a new version of Talemai, and we’re continuing work on the others. After reviewing our progress, we've decided to take extra time to make the new planets truly feel different with new art, new terrain, and more exciting features. This means they are coming at a slower pace and possibly in a different order than we had envisioned. Expect new teasers, concept art, and images from us soon™!

    Combat Missions

We had decided early in the life of Dual Universe not to focus on a PvE combat system, given other priorities. With all of the feedback we’ve received since the beginning of the game, PvE combat has consistently remained a highly requested feature from our community. We always try to listen to your feedback, and I’m happy to announce that we have begun work on implementing the first iteration of a PvE combat system into the game!
We’re planning the first version to be a PvE mission system that takes players into combat in their ships. The missions will scale in size to allow all players (solo or part of a larger group) to participate.

We’re very excited about the PvE combat feature. It will add more engaging gameplay for all Noveans and allow players to try out the rigors of space combat before heading out to battle with other players in Dual Universe PvP.

We are still in the early development of this feature, and it will take time, but we are already looking forward to seeing you all trying it in future PTS sessions. Your feedback will be instrumental in our developing PvE combat in Dual Universe.

    PvP Improvements

Following a recent and very successful round table discussion with members of our PvP community, we are reviewing all the feedback gathered and our own data to determine what changes we will make. We are considering increasing the importance and/or requirement of having voxel armor onboard successful PvP ship designs, finding ways to encourage multi-crew ship setups, and potentially restricting the ability to remove cargo while in combat. Stay tuned for more exciting developments on PvP.

    Contest Winner Constructs

Before launch, we ran the Build Your Legacy Contest for players to design starting outposts and speeders, with the winning entries being added to Dual Universe. We are currently working to make the constructs that the contest winners submitted available as options to select during the first start of the game, and we are also looking to make these available for purchase in the UEF shop. The contest entries were original and impressive. I want to congratulate all of you who took part.

    Maintenance Unit

A complete rework of the repair unit was planned for the 1.2 release just before the holidays. The feature still needed more work, and we decided to delay its release with plans to include it in the upcoming 1.3 update. When finished, the repair unit will be replaced with the maintenance unit, which can repair constructs with scrap and disassemble constructs. However, construct disassembly is the feature that still requires the most work, and we are determining if the feature will make it into the 1.3 release. When added, this feature will remove the pain of finding that one last bit of voxel in a construct and make redesigning builds easier, with the Maintenance Unit taking down constructs for you.

    Joystick Support

Dual Universe already has a basic system to connect joysticks to the game. However, these were never cohesively connected with the Lua system. We will change that, allowing players to map analog and button inputs from Joysticks, Throttles, Pedals, and even simple Gamepads into Dual Universe. This will significantly improve the flying experience for non-Lua developing players and open new doors for Lua developers through projects such as Lua arcade games, custom flight control systems, and other nifty things our community creates.

    Default Lua Configuration Rework

Once we’ve added Joystick support, we will redesign the default Lua scripts we give to players. Our community has long requested this update, and we want to ensure we deliver it. We will add a full suite of features and improvements. This means new Lua flight control systems, the ability to toggle widgets on and off without requiring Lua code, and integrating several systems not fully encapsulated in current control scripts, such as Anti-Gravity Generators.

    Fuel Intake Changes

This has been a popular demand by our players, and we are looking into options to allow players to refuel tanks from another element. Currently, we plan to make a  'Fuel Intake' able to act as a proxy for a single fuel tank. This feature is still on the drawing board and may change as we dive deeper into it.

As always, thank you for reading this short overview of some of what’s coming up. I hope you have a clearer picture of the direction we're taking Dual Universe in, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the forums. Have a wonderful day.

    Dear Noveans,

With the launch behind us, it’s time we give you better insight into our direction of development for Dual Universe.

Before the release, our Creative Director gave an overview of many upcoming game features, and we want to expand on his letter by giving you a more precise look at what we’re working on specifically in our upcoming updates.

We are currently continuing to focus our work on the initial stabilization and resolution of issues following the launch, and we are also working on update 1.1 which we are aiming to release in December.

    What’s Coming in Update 1.1?

We will update you should this planning change significantly, and look forward to hearing your thoughts and feedback in this forum thread.

It’s been an incredible month since launching Dual Universe. We’ve worked hard to address issues, and though we always want to do better, we hope you’ve enjoyed the game so far. All across Helios, wonders are already taking shape as you bring the game to life. We can’t wait to see what you’ll build in the coming months and years. From all of us here at Novaquark, thank you for being a part of our game.

[BOO] Sylva reacted to NQ-Nyota in Thoramine and Related Post-Release Rewards
    Hi everyone!

We’ve been hearing some legitimate complaints about the reward associated with having Thoramine on some characters. The issue is that the reward for having Thoramine can’t be bound to an account completely (it can be deployed and picked up by other players). Since this reward should be considered very rare, having the ability to trade it could potentially allow players to achieve a huge source of wealth if traded. In light of that, we’ve decided to use this reward for later events instead. Owners of at least 500L of Thoramine will still get a distinction that will not impact the in-game economy: they will be granted an in-game title to celebrate the memory of owning such a precious and rare resource.

Regarding the controversy of people acquiring Thoramine through RMT:

After investigation, We didn't find any evidence of an RMT transaction about Thoramine. However, we do know that some amount of Thoramine has been exchanged in DU for resources in another game. Though this kind of transaction is not considered RMT (reminder: Real Money Trading implies that the seller receives real money), it does fall in a grey area, which was not covered by our rules so far. As the nature of such an exchange was not covered by our rules, no sanction will be applied to the community members for this time. However, from now on, transactions of this type are considered against the rules and all community members caught doing so will be subject to some significant sanctions.

    Strong reminder about public accusations:

We would like to remind everyone that public accusations are a solid “no go”. There are only two scenarios possible:

    1) If you have at least partial evidence that a community member has broken our forum/discord rules or EULA, and you have evidence of this, please report it to the mods in private. In rare cases it can be more appropriate, you can instead report it - in private - to one of the CMs on Discord, or write to the whole CM team at community@novaquark.com. It’s not your prerogative to start a witch hunt even if you have evidence.

    2) If you just happen to hear about someone doing something that breaks the rules, refrain from making any public accusation. If you don't have any evidence (reminder: some screenshots of a discussion is not considered evidence, as it could be falsified.) However it can be a good start for an internal investigation. Also, keep in mind that providing false/altered evidence to the Novaquark team can backfire to the one(s) who provided the evidence. We are aware that some people consider weaponizing the rules as an okay form of “PvP”. To be clear, this is not considered okay at all by the Novaquark team, and can be severely  punished, for both following reasons: trying to take down an innocent player by shady means and wasting the time of the Novaquark team for no good reason. If you want to do PvP, you have to do it by the rules, or you’re exposing yourself to serious sanctions.

Last but not least, public accusations can trigger harassment and significant reputation damage that can be irreversible even if the person is innocent in the end. Even if you’re sure the person is guilty, let the Novaquark team investigate. It’s not your prerogative to start a witch hunt based on partial evidence (because if you happen to be wrong, who will pay the most in the end for this error? Certainly not the one who started the public accusation). Of course, we also take into account that all public accusations do not have all the same severity (hence not the same consequences). If you’re accusing someone of RMT, Bug Exploiting, Doxxing, etc they are considered very serious, and they do not have the same consequences as accusing someone of trolling, for example.

    Thanks for your understanding.
    The Novaquark team.

[BOO] Sylva reacted to NQ-Wanderer in KICKSTARTER REWARDS STATUS
    Hello Noveans,

Many thanks to all of you who have been with us from our Kickstarter campaign. We appreciate your support and your patience and would like to update you on the status of the rewards you have been waiting for.

    THE PHYSICAL KICKSTARTER REWARDS

Production on the Dual Universe figurines and the Collector Box is complete. However, there are two challenges in shipping them:

First, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the price of shipping has risen significantly. It has reached a point where sending the rewards would cost as much as producing them. We had hoped that these price rises would only be temporary, but we now know that they won’t decrease in the short to medium future. We’ve therefore taken the decision to absorb the increased cost and to move forward with shipping the physical rewards. The second challenge has come from our partner responsible for handling the shipping of the physical rewards. They’ve recently informed us that they won’t be able to complete the task. We are therefore searching for a new partner to take receipt of the physical rewards and to start shipping them to you as quickly as possible.     THE VIRTUAL KICKSTARTER REWARDS

Both the Kickstarter Founder Packs and the Supporter Packs will be released throughout the milestones of 2022 in Dual Universe. We’ll give you more concrete details on exactly when you can expect each part of those rewards packages to be released in the months ahead.

Your support and patience mean a lot to all of us at Novaquark, and the delivery of your Kickstarter rewards is one of our priorities. We thank you again for your support and will update you with more information as quickly as we can.

Juvenius Drakonius made this suggestion on the Discord:

Can we get some kind of static URL to an image that we can upload a replacement for, or that we can use as a redirect to a different approved image?

The idea is that we can do things like news banners or event notices where we just update the source image, and the screen code across the verse stays the same. So we could have people put a screen with a quick image on their ship to Juvenius's news site, and every time he uploads a new edition, he could just update the static link and everyone's screens would be updated. Or if AngryDad wanted to have an image that showed some details about a race night prize, or some upcoming event, or a running tally of how much money has been won in that death sphere thing of his, one link could always show the most up to date info.

Seems like a good simple low-hanging fruit change that would give some cool abilities to spread information in game, and given that the images would still have to go through the approval process, it wouldn't be a bypass for the approval process.

[BOO] Sylva reacted to Krell0 in Let Stacking Just Fade Away!
    Let It Fade

NQ (Novaquark) ignored correcting stacked builds and allowed a precedence of stacking when announcing there will be no punishment for stacking.  NQ is now saying that they will delete (without warning or compensation) Stacked ships when detected or turned in by fellow players.  Is this fair to the players of DU and is it a waste of NQ man hours in tracking down and deleting of these existing stacked builds on DU players?
Removal of being able to stack in DU is good.  problems will be resolved by doing so.  PvP exploits will be eliminated and building will return as it was originally planned to be, just to mention a couple.
However, perhaps the added deletion of stacked builds may be a bit to much.  Lets think of the ship collector that bought a ship because it looked great.  He may never fly the thing but spent millions of quanta to purchase this ship and put it in his/her show room, but now NQ will just delete it?  Or, perhaps the builder that used stacking of elements to create interesting new shapes, art or unique elements combo's.  Are all of the thousand of hours of work that these DU builders spent to be deleted?  Personally, I like the Idea of not having a big ass end on a ship.
What is the purpose of even spending the man hours to find stacked builds or even to delete these builds.  Is this what NQ spends it time doing when the stacking issue will resolve itself, instead of addressing more pressing issues with in DU?   NQ made it so you can no longer make stacked builds nor replace the broken parts on stacked builds.  It seems it would be fair to just let stacked builds that are already in existence to just fade away.  Eventually these builds will have to replace parts from pvp conflict or crashes and since builds can not re-stack or replace stacked elements the ship is useless and there is one less stacked ship in the game.  Over time, stacked builds will become rarer and rarer (with pvp builds being the first to go) until they no longer exist. By just letting the problem fade away, the DU community will be happier, NQ man hours will be saved to work on other issues within DU, and everyone wins.

The three-part devblog series we published in April, “The Future of Dual Universe”, addressed the cost of doing business and our plans for the ramp-up to launch. We took the first steps in delivering on those changes in May with the incremental 0.25 updates, adding more gameplay content and improving both performance and visuals.

    Our 0.25 updates brought players:
Voxel compression  Constructs LOD  Hauling Missions The Job Forum The first of a series of Challenges The integration of PopcornFX for visual effects And, of course, many bug fixes and additional improvements
If you haven’t had time yet to check out these changes, we released some videos showcasing them. Watch this video for a closer look and missions and challenges and this first look at the new visual effects.

About the latter, It was fun to watch the real-time reactions from our Twitch streamer community as they saw the changes for the first time.

Now that 0.25 is wrapped up, development is underway for our next big milestone. Codenamed Apollo, the update centers around the first phase of a major mining revamp. The addition of asteroids will provide rare and precious ore, which in turn will create opportunities for conflict as the hunters become the hunted. To that end, PVP will receive a first wave of balancing changes and the introduction of shields. Keep an eye out for devblogs on these topics!

In the meanwhile, we’d like to invite you to post your follow-up questions about the changes we introduced in 0.25 in this thread. In turn, we’ll take the best questions for an upcoming Q&A. Your insights and constructive feedback go a long way not only in helping us identify any lingering issues that should be addressed but are also helpful in how we can make things better in future updates.

No. These things should be options that the Super Legate chooses (or not). There should be a settings panel or something under Organization Management, with a searchable log.

    Evening,

So as by far the largest Org in-game (yes I know actual numbers playing are far less) i'm a bit concerned with assets all over the place as well as sub orgs for different wings of how we run the org.  For example a lot of this was done to avoid 'theft' which of course many know we had but ironically as a result we split stuff up to make this more difficult to do!.  So now we are looking at trying to find every core item to visit it to transfer it into one org and trying to find ever tile claimed.  There is NO list of who owns what core, there is NO list of every tile owned and by whom.  If this change is to happen at least give us the tools!

[BOO] Sylva reacted to NQ-Deckard in DevBlog: Live Support Initiative
    Hello Noveans,

Over the past months, we have been working with the Support and Community teams to better identify the wants and needs of our players. These findings have sparked the initiative to implement a Live Support system to address some of the most common issues during peak times as well as address urgent tickets outside of office-hours. In addition, we’re adding some self-help tools that will enable you to resolve some of the most common issues without having to reach out to Support.

The changes described below will be included in the next update.

    NEW TOOLS
We are making it easier for players to help themselves in times of need. This is in the form of the following three features, one of which many of you will already be familiar with.

    Global Chats
To better organize and filter the chat within the game, we are implementing the following channels:
General - Joined by default and can not be left. Help - Joined by default and can be left. Trade - Can be joined and left.  You can interact with these channels by using the following commands in the text window:
/join - To join a channel, such as Trade, i.e. “/join Trade”. /help - Lists all available commands. To leave a channel, right-click on the channel tab. We know that global channels have been in high demand from our community, and we’re thankful for that feedback and the opportunity to see them implemented. Please continue to provide feedback about our chat system on our forums.

    Fetch
If you have a dynamic construct that’s become stuck, you can right mouse button-click on the construct from your map view and click to Fetch. This will teleport the construct towards you, allowing you to reach and interact with it normally.

We had hoped to be able to make this redundant; however we have seen that there is still a need for it. We are now intending to leave this feature available for the entire duration of beta, initially with these parameters:
Players can only fetch once per 24 hours. Maximum range has been limited to 4,000 meters. Players must be standing on a planet/moon’s surface.
    Unstuck
If you find yourself trapped and unable to resume your current play, you can now use /unstuck in chat to free yourself in a random direction. This feature has the following limitations:
You can use this command once per five minutes. This teleports you up to 100 meters in a random direction. Teleports can not move players into the building zone of any construct.
Please note that the Fetch and Unstuck features are intended to be used only to free stuck constructs and avatars. Any usage outside of this scope may be considered an exploit and actioned accordingly. The team will be continually monitoring the behaviour and results of these features, tweaking when and where needed to ensure that players are not abusing these systems designed to help players in need.

    LIVE SUPPORT
It is important to emphasize that the purpose of Live Support is not to cover all game knowledge questions and assistance scenarios, at least not in this first incarnation. We’ve noticed that many of our community members enjoy helping and teaching other players. We strongly encourage everyone to join our forums where players and organizations can offer further guidance and services to each other.

That being said, our Support staff will be monitoring the in-game Help channel for any issues that are eligible for assistance, to offer advice regarding knowledge resources, or to recommend when players should file a Support ticket.

Here is a sample of the assistance we may offer:
Assistance with the tutorial. Freeing stuck characters (if /unstuck does not work). Raising constructs from below the surface (if Fetch did not work). Fetching ships stuck in the sky above a planet (if Fetch did not work). Refreshing glitched elements.
Should you encounter one of these issues, give us a shout out with a description of your issue via @GM in the Help channel. Please allow at least 10 minutes for a response, after which you may choose to file a Support ticket instead. With the implementation of Live Support, we are expecting a significant improvement to response time for urgent inquiries.

We are very interested in hearing your feedback and your thoughts about these changes. Please join the discussion here.

[BOO] Sylva reacted to NQ-Naerais in A letter to our players
    Dear Noveans,

We would like to address the recent speculations that have arisen in our community, and openly disclose some changes that are happening at Novaquark.

First and foremost, Novaquark continues to be supported by its long term investors to allow it to launch Dual Universe in line with its original vision. It also puts us in a position to attract experienced talent to complement the team that’s already in place so that we can continue to improve the game.

Next week, we will share with you what we think our priorities should be for Dual Universe and how we hope to approach the development of the game with improved processes going forward.

An important change to note is that Jean-Christophe, the founder of Novaquark, has transitioned from the day-to-day management of the team to better focus on his position as a board member. Over the years since the creation of Novaquark, JC designed and set the standards for the structural and conceptual foundation of the game, and he feels now that a solid base is there for him to move forward as a strategic advisor. The recent changes in the administrative presidency of the company only reflect the transition of JC to his new role. We’re excited to have the team he has built deliver on his vision for the game.

Rest assured that Novaquark’s future is in good hands, and there is a strong partnership between our long-term investors and our team. We believe that the future is bright for the game and for the company, and we cannot wait to tell you where we want to take Dual Universe.

    With our warmest regards,
    The Novaquark team

You guys need to introduce higer tier adjusters, also increase the outputs off the current ones as well at least by 50%, perhaps introduce XL adjusters
It's ridiculous that I have to put 200 adjusters on a larger ship (7kts dry) and not being able to use it due to the low fps (I have an i7, 2080ti, 32gb mem)

If they are going to pull a stunt like this, at least leave the current materials as  "glossy XXXX" and introduce this new nastiness as "aged XXXX"...   The original silion panel was a perfect interior paneling solution, this is more alike a public toilet flooring solution...

... by which I mean that this sort of tile would have a definite place in the universe... Just no longer the floor of my org headquarters VIP corridors.

I've now got to replace 8000 cubic metres of this shite if they don't implement this as aged and grandfather the old silicon panel as glossy silicon panel.

I can only think that they did it purposefully. No way this was an accident.
Someone must have gone, "yes, this will do it.. the nastiest most corroded panel of the lot..."

    This went to total opposite
    Game is darker and gray...
    - sand is darker and ugly
    - i'we used white pattern iron and galvanized white iron to get at least some light and playability in my building. Now it is all gray and dark.
    - glossy materials were interesting and created nice effects. Not anymore Why you did spoil that. It may be 100% realistic, but hey come on this is SCIFI space game. Do not try ti make this a dull realism simulator.
    - if materials are not grayed out or darker textures get overexposed if light is used

    Before

    Now

I think the game looks and runs better in almost everyway. Sadly the exceptions make the game look horrific. Many metal materials have a weird glazed ceramic looking reflectivity. This has an especially bad looking result on Galvanized and Stained metals as they have a really extreme normal map that causes this glaze to look like metalkc leprosy. It seems to be most noticable during the day when the metals are reflecting the atmosphere. Is this a known issue? Is it going to be fixed?

Overall the graphics look good that being said.  There are so few good colors in the game its hard to find one to build with that has good contrast.  Now some of those have been made dull or look like they have been melted in the sun.  others look a lot better.
here a few that I have found so far I am disappointed in

Black pattern plastic was one of the better patterns in the game.   now it looks more like gray pattern melted plastic.  Steel colors have lost their colors and seem to have been muted out. Even the dark orange steel looks brown when it has no light on it.  Luminescent voxel is very dim now you cant even tell its lighting up in most cases.
