  1. Flying places and exploring the creations there is fun. The more places there are to explore the better. There is no problem with The Exchange existing. I just hope that it will be well managed. I think it is foolish to just assume that it will somehow be a failure. Surprisingly anyone who thinks that they can curate a better collection has that opportunity. There have been several such locations in the game already. There will be more.
  2. The exchange will be nice for those individuals who don't want to get involved with an org, but still want a central place to show their stuff. I don't see the exchange replacing the player created showcases. There is no way that the exchange will have as much hands on involvement it would need for that to happen. It seems more like a replacement for the Market Advertising clutter. And the big orgs are not gone, not all of them anyway. Some of them are just sleeping for awhile. The renaissance will come.
  3. Isn't a button with an active state and a de-active state just a switch? as a workaround: attach both a button and a switch to an OR gate. use the button for manual push. attach the switch to your control unit and create a little onActivate() function that deactivates the switch again.
  4. I'm 100% with Endstar here. Repair unit's need to WORK. load them up with scrap aim them at a construct, come back in X min everything is repaired. Yes I know it will cost more scrap this way but that is a worthy tradeoff. I also try and keep my element count lean, I would use far more logic elements and sensors etc if I didn't have to spend 90 min digging them all out of walls and repairing them all if i hit atmo just a wee bit too fast.
  5. Bug (feature?) The default Command Seat Widget that shows the throttle does NOT update if the throttle or target speed is set strictly from Lua with no corresponding key press event. so lets say you are cruising along at 50% throttle, and the widget shows 50% Nav.axisCommandManager:setThrottleCommand(axisCommandId.longitudinal,0.1) bound to a key.start() will set speed to 10% but if you do it somewhere else based on something other then a key press (like a proximity detector) it changes the throttle just fine, but the widget keeps showing the previous value.
  6. Question: Dear NQ-Ligo et al In keeping with the stated desire of using less json and more actual tables, are there any plans to allow reading and writing of tables to databanks?
  7. Yup. Everyone wants to be the Tough Guy super invincible master Pirate that everyone else fears. Too bad victim volunteers are so hard to come by. It's almost like how real power is gathered by those who use social engineering to create a victim pool of fearful and greedy that they can exploit. If you want targets to shoot at, create a scenario where there is a tiny chance of great wealth and convince everyone that it can be theirs if they just **try hard enough**. oh... and don' t listen to those loosers who are suggesting that we would all be better off if we just help one another.
  8. Let's cut NQ-Deckard some slack here. What he CLEARLY said is that they would actually check this time for blueprints buried in nested places like packages and containers and move them to your nanopack. They have the mechanisms in place for that no matter what happens in other quarters. The (word that shall not be spoken or typed) is decided some point in the future by someone else. I for one, am glad to get confirmation of BP retention. No good dead goes unpunished apparently.
  9. Spoken like a true VCR repair man. Yes that is correct. Coal is no longer desired, diamonds are no longer rare, cursive is gratefully dead, but you can still make a living selling flat earth maps if you peddle fear with it. Starting over is always a problem. It is also frequently rewarding. It is also necessary. Be it an Employer, a friend, or a president; it is not the speaker of truth who is the problem. The universe marches on. Some learn and grow, some hang on to old antiquated paths and die on the side of Everest trying to reach Heaven. Some try and kill all those who are different in a futile attempt to hang on to a long dead lie.
  10. oh joy. here come the "gold scammers" yup, I know it is against the Terms of Service, but when has that ever stopped them?
  11. Agree 100%. A way to "hail" another ship is almost required for game like this. Also agree with OP. useful for Mayday as well as a general 2 or 3 SU broadcast.
  12. I'm good with "Radar needs to be on the outside of the ship" I just wish they would stop making elements oversized and glowy/flashing. If you are a small schooner and you want to achive victory over an aircraft carrier, then yes, the first thing you take out is the communications array/radar tower. duh. Big giant overpowered ships should have some disadvantages yes.
  13. They did. The instances are called Asteroids.
  14. I'm not Dissing a good acid trip. I just don't want one forced on me all the time. I rest my case:
  15. the warp widget shows how many cells are needed to do a jump. I generally recommend having at least 4x the needed for one way. that way if you have an issue with mid jump home etc, you still have enough to try again.
  16. maybe less LSD? These are my space brakes that are outside of my ship laid flat on the surface of the underside. When on. Why? Why? Why? does EVERYTHING need flashing strobing effects. This is nuts. any effects that are generated by the brakes, should only be on the "exterior" side of the brakes, not on the contact surface. and they shouldn't be bleeding through a voxel+ away
  17. The new version on Live of this, is much better then it was on PTS. Warp still makes me think Zardoz or maybe even Barbarella.
  18. The voice!!! oh the voice!!!! /grin the vid was flashy and just "real game play" enough to not be over-blown The best part, IMnsHO, is the inclusion of the "Alian" tech, which is DUs best hook for storyline and PvE content. what is that small tingle at the back of my skull? Is it the first hint of hope? nah it can't be, it must just be an itch.
  19. One of the most astonishing things about DU is the vast number of coding geeks it has attracted, old 4 bit hacks like myself, all the way to hot shot drone devs. I love it. So much brain food.
  20. perhaps watch the mass of the container on a tick. if it decreases by the amount of one payload, then the transaction occurred.
  21. The water is much easier to navigate. I approve The blueprint placement is a long awaited improvement. Thank you. The skybox flight particles are still ridiculous, although I am thrilled that they no longer fly THROUGH the ship. Thank you for that. That is NOT the way space looks (would look) if you were flying fast through space. if you were able to approach the speed of light, the stars in front of you and behind you would spectrum shift and change color, near by stars to the side of you would look like short lines in space instead of dots. The current bombardment graphic is just unrealistic visual noise that serves no purpose. (one geeks opinon, but hey, you asked.) The warp graphic is scary retro 1970s disco warp. Well qualified geeks MOCK "Zerdoz", not emulate it. Tordan
  22. I certainly spend plenty of time and effort enumerating the things that happen that I disagree with, sometimes strenuously. I know that many times I have hounded devs to the point that they yell at me. It is only fair that I thank then for changes that are solid improvements. It is my nature. and I want the game to succeed.
  23. agreed. even 1km instead of 100 range would make a HUGE difference.
  24. Yes this is currently in Athena as well. Gameplay Changes [Lua] getTime() is now deprecated, because it depends on the time zone. You can use instead : [ Lua] [float] getArkTime() : returns the current time since the arrival of the Arkship on September 30th, 2017 [Lua] [float] getUtcTime(): Return the current time since January 1st, 1970. [Lua] [int] getUtcOffset(): Return the time offset between local timezone and UTC I am very happy they finally did this. I have been asking for this for a couple of years now. all sorts of things like good encryption, and intercore communication are now much easier to achieve.
