  1. If there was no usernames though how would you know what to call someone if you didn't know them already who you just say "Hey you with the blond hair" I don't think that would work.

Ok, on the subject of guilds I think that it will work out great if there are larger and smaller guilds because of this, if one guild gets to big another guild will most likely become scared and shut them down, but if there are not other guilds that are larger than them I think that the smaller guilds will band together to defeat them. In addition to that though I want to see guilds become more of a community than what they usually are, a group of people who get together so they can destroy more/get a higher score. I want guilds to be warring factions but I also want them to be supportive communities.
  3. Very interesting idea, I think it would help people to make their account or character unique if they got to pick a picture to represent them along with their username.
  4. My thought is that if marriage is implemented and it is only purely for the social interactions of getting married, then I don't think many people will do it. My reasoning on that is that I believe that most people play games to do more than they can in real life. Yes there will be quite a few people who want to just make a normal little cottage in the woods so to speak type of life in duel universe and I think that they will greatly enjoy being able to marry people in game. At the same time though I think the majority will view and as pointless and totally ignore that it is an option making me wonder whether putting it in the game would be worth it. I guess I'm of the opinion that it would be useful to a few but not to the majority of players but I could be wrong, definitely an interesting concept though.
  5. Thank you I appreciate the clarification, and I totally support whatever you think will bring the most immersion while still allowing you to make your ship/whatever you build your own.

Ok sounds good what about voting prossece for getting textures added, I don't think this was already suggested but what if you had a place where people could upload textures and once it got to a certian popularity it would be accepted so not everyone would get personolized textures but if a texture was important to the duel universe community as a whole it could be implemented. Alternativly you could give players a set of like 10-12 textures slot that they could upload there own to so that everyone could have their own unique looking ships. I don't know though how hard that would be to implement/ store all of those different textures on the server side so that all the players could see them.
  7. I agree this could be cool and it would force you to protect your ship when offline with droids and what not. As far as clutter as long as they couldn't attack other ships while the owner is offline I don't think it would be that resource intensive although I'm just guessing here.
  8. If not adding custom textures from the player what if you had a library of existing textures that people could pull from for building design ship painting ect.
  9. I totally agree and that is why I suggested having two separate systems one for direct communication such as during combat that would work just like a phone call no dynamic voice needed there, but then also have the dynamic voice system during normal interaction betweenplayers.

Now when I say pets I don't mean the standard dog or cat the follows you everywhere and fights with you no I mean what if there was actual pets where you could have a cat that actually behaved like a cat and stayed at the house. I was thinking there might be a few advantages to having a pet, but most of the reason for having one should be for immersiveness. Those who would get pets would have to take care of them making the game feel more like real life. Even if there can't be pets will you be able to befriend wild animals? maybe you prefer to ride a horse so you go out and find one and eventually earn its trust so you can ride it. That could happen with other animals to not just horses what if you could befriend a giant lizard to ride on the back of? Thanks, Jared
  11. I don't know if this is completely off character for this type of game but I was wondering what if you had some sort of Aliens. If not intelligent Aliens I was wondering about having Non-intelligent native animals. How much of the ecosystem of these new planets will differ from what we know today. I'm sure there will be local plants and animals but what if they were more than just props in the game. The reason I put this is the lore and backstory is because I was thinking that maybe part of the history could talk about unmanned probes sent to the planet before the Arkships landed and how they interacted with the environment. Also will humanity be destroying the new planets they land on or will they be protecting the wildlife on them or will that be up to the players? Thanks, Jared

I do like the idea of having Insignias, if D.U. is looking to create a community adding Insignias would help a lot, reason being is that people like to feel like they belong to something and by having an Insignia they are constantly reminded of what they belong to. Even though this is a game that idea still applies by seeing the Insignia it will create a sense of loyalty and teamwork that I think D.U. is trying to create. Seeing them also makes people proud such as imagine me saying I'm a lieutenant in the 4th space fleet battle division. The insignia reminds them of what they are working for.
  13. I understand that not everyone would use the system. I feel that a system like that would be available to those of use who just want to make the game as immersive as possible. I do get that it would lose some of the immersive quality of it and I had hoped there would be another solution besides the one mentioned, all I was saying that if you can't find a way to implement it where everyone can talk with real time distance then you might have it only within a small group so that it would save on CPU power and noise confusion. Also I was thinking that there would be an in-game radio like system that would eliminate the need for using team speak in addition to the distance based voice chatting(a.k.a Dynamic Voice Chat System). The ideal system for me has both the radio like system for communication between people where understanding each other and quick communication are key and a Dynamic Voice Chat System that gives an immersive feel when you are in a city or around other people. So have a communicator that you talk through which will sound the same distance from you at all times and can communicate with others over long distances, but the when the communicator is not active get the conversations that are going on all around you.
  14. Thanks for replying I am looking forward to making creations besides ships and I hope they give you enough freedom to do that. The other question I had was would you be able to build buildings using voxel. I assume so but i wondered if you could create a building that could land and take of into space kind of like a capital ship. Thanks, Jared
  15. Ok so NovaQuark mentioned a few things that I would like to talk about. First of is the AI's that you will be able to write yourself in code. Me being a programmer myself was very excited by this and i started thinking about all the amazing things I could do. As I was thinking about it I wondered two things. How much will you be able to code in?, and two will it extend beyond the basic ship functions. What I mean by the second one is will I be able to sit down and write a code that would allow me to fly instead of a regular space ship a giant robot that I built using the voxels. So basically to sum it up will I be able to build other constructs such as giant mechs that I can fight in or will I be limited to only building space ships. Thanks, Jared
  16. Thought I would just put out there my idea for an organization. I've always wanted to have a game where I could have my own alliance but with D.U. I can final put it into effect. I want to create a federation that is very loyal to it's cause that is focused on being able to isolate itself and yet when it needs to effect major change.

It would also be neat if the bars had different reputations that showed up as the game evolves, such as the bar that is hidden in the asteroid field in an unexplored sector could have a lot of shady deals going on in it where you could get restricted items, whereas the bar in the main city would be very upstanding and be very formal.

I've been thinking some more about this and realized that the issue of not being able to communicate because there are to many people around could possible be solved, what if instead of having everyone in an area all talking and interrupting others conversations, you could have it set to where only a group of friends would be able to talk like they would in real life giving you the immersive feeling between friends while still allowing you to have meaningful conversations that everyone understands. Also this would help because I assume that having a dynamic voice chat system like I suggested between hundreds of people would be very resource intensive on your computer so by limiting it to groups instead of everyone you would be able to save a lot of processing powers for other parts of the game. Just an idea that might make it more feasible please tell me what you think of it.

I was the one who first suggested real voice chat system where you could talk like you would in real life on the main devblog web site before they had the forums so it is cool that that idea is actually being tossed around. It is correct though to say that it could get very noisy in a crowded area so I was thinking maybe having it as an option so you could turn it off whenever it got annoying.
