meigrafd reacted to NQ-Wanderer in Update 1.3 is on its way: Maintenance Units, schematic containers and more
    Dear Noveans,

Update 1.3 is on its way! As we finalize the Maintenance Unit and prepare for its public test session (more on that below), we are excited to share the details of update 1.3 with all of you.

We also want to thank you for your patience as we work towards bringing you a new PvE system in Dual Universe. Our development team is working hard to create an exciting and enjoyable feature that provides the best gaming experience for everyone. We are prioritizing PvE and are working to bring it to you as soon as possible. In the meantime, you can still look forward to other new features (like the ones below), with more details coming on our Social Media and teaser livestreams on Twitch.

With that, let’s look at update 1.3!

    THE MAINTENANCE UNIT

We’re replacing Repair Units with Maintenance Units, giving players more flexibility in maintaining their constructs by allowing repair and disassembly.

    Repair:
You can choose to repair damaged elements, honeycomb, or both Use scrap to repair damaged elements or replace them Choose what happens to extra elements: If damaged elements are not part of the original snapshot, they can either be recycled or repaired with scrap and recovered. They will be recovered if they are undamaged but not part of the original construct snapshot. Destroyed extra elements (those with no remaining repair counts) will be recycled.
Repairing honeycomb structures requires the exact amount of honeycomb missing, and elements still need the same amount of scrap to fix.

    Disassembly:
You can remove all honeycomb and elements on a construct, including the core. The maintenance unit will use its linked container to retrieve all items instead of using it to repair. Damaged elements can be repaired with scrap before recovery or recycled. Destroyed elements (those with no remaining repairs) will always be recycled.

    THE CONSTRUCT SCHEMATIC CONTAINER

Following popular demand by our community members who grew tired of manually inserting schematics into industries, we’ve now added the option to designate a single container on a construct to act as the schematic provider for all industry units on the construct.
This feature is accessible by simply right-clicking on a container and selecting “Set as schematic container” from the context menu.

    UEF SHOP EXPANSION

Looking to buy ships from Aphelia? We’ve grown the UEF shop with new floors and a Blueprint Basement that sells copies of all outposts and speeders. Before launch, we ran the ‘Build Your Legacy’ contest, giving DU builders a chance to be woven into the game by building speeders and outposts for new players. We’ve added the winners to our First Time User Experience and into the Blueprint Basement of UEF stores. We’ve also added four bonus speeders and an extra outpost!

    INTRODUCING EASYANTICHEAT (EAC)

Accessing and manipulating game files is critical to many disreputable players who want to cheat by automating actions or gaining hidden data, for example. To combat this, we shortlisted EQU8 and EasyAntiCheat (EAC) when implementing our original solution for Dual Universe. With the sale of EQU8 to 1047 Games and the closure of their service to third-party customers, we will switch to EAC.
We want to thank EQU8 for their amazing service and responsive support and are excited to transition into EAC. The only change that should be visible to our players is seeing EAC instead of EQU8 as the anti-cheat system in Dual Universe.

    UPCOMING PTS SESSION

Many of you have requested a PTS testing session, and our goal is to open the PTS to the public between Friday, February 10th, at 10:00 UTC and Monday, February 13th, at 10:00 UTC.
The PTS will allow you to test all features of Update 1.3 and help us with information and feedback on the PTS Forum thread to tune the features.
Your involvement has been invaluable in helping us shape the future of Dual Universe. As we progress with development, we want to thank you for your continued support and engagement and invite you to share your feedback. We’re working hard to give you all an enjoyable and immersive gaming experience and look forward to introducing more upcoming features.

    Thanks for playing, Noveans!

meigrafd reacted to JayleBreak in Now available: In-game 2D Voxel Planner/Builder
About a year ago, I wrote the 2D Voxel Planner now found on "dual.sh". I'm
now introducing a fully in-game construct that combines an enhanced 2D voxel
planner with an integrated voxel board.
Free blueprints for the planner/builder can be obtained at the Objective
    Driveyards shipyards. The entrance is at ::pos{0,2,23.4393,73.7082,3.5773}
The blueprint is labled "2Dplus Voxel Planner Builder"
The "plus" refers to the support for multiple (12) "layers" of 2 dimensional
voxel plans. These layers can be stacked together to produce 3 dimensional
objects. In the picture, on the right, is a voxel board that is the source
of voxels placed on the assembly board on the left. In the center is the
planning terminal with a "scratch" voxel board behind it.
To illustrate how things work, I will walk through the creation of a truncated
cone. The process begins by sitting in the provided chair and activating the
program board. Note that your plan is saved in a databank on program board
deactivation, change of layer, or change of page. The plans for up to 3
different avatars are seperately tracked (the number can be increased by adding
    additional databanks).

meigrafd reacted to WildChild85 in Not Punishing Desolation was weak and poor from NQ
    About the situation:
The organization Desolation (https://community.dualthegame.com/organization/4124/) has used a bug very actively to move ships from the Safe Zones (even planets) to the pvp zone to destroy and therefore steal them. Around 300 players have lost there ships and a lot of new players with that everthing they had resulting in a big quit wave. We know, that Desolation even allows their members explicitly in their rules to use any kind of bug and exploit, which is clearly against the rules of Novaquark.

NQ now officially confirmed, that this organization doesn't get any punishment. So basicly this whole rules here
are complete bullshit, because you can do whatever you want, Novaquark will not punish you.

If that is the way NQ wants to go, this game will die pretty quickly because all new players, that don't have the power or organizations behind them yet will quit the game very quickly.

In my opinion, this is a very poor and weak behavior of Novaquark and a punsh in the face for every honest player in this community.

meigrafd reacted to blazemonger in Not Punishing Desolation was weak and poor from NQ
The point of this thread is that NQ is not actually going after exploiters but instead pretty much punishes everyone by nerfing mechanics to the point where the exploit no longer exists.

In the situation where there is no safe zone, you can just shoot a construct left unattended on an unclaimed tile. There is nothing wrong with that.

Having the option to maneuver a construct in/on another is a viable and useful mechanic, using it to bypass the safezone by bringing the construct into PVP space to destroy and claim it is an exploit. NQ just killed the another useful mechanic and removing the players freedom and choices in general to prevent some using this as an the exploit while leaving the perpetrators to go free which is putting the cart before the horse. And it's not the first time they have done this (not having hopes it will be the last time either)

meigrafd reacted to Hachiro in Not Punishing Desolation was weak and poor from NQ
    The big issue is:

NQ stated to NOT exploit bugs to get an unfair advantage to the others who play within the rules.
    Or it will have consequences.

We all know it still happened here and there. NQ cannot overwatch everything. Okay.

But now a whole organization abused a bug in more than 300 (!) cases to steal other players ships.
They did not do it here and there, they massively focused exactly on the bug abuse. Exactly on the thing NQ prohibited.
They even allowed it in their org rules.
And most of the cases were well documented. Every day NQ got a buch of reports from the victims about this.

And yet there are no consequences.

    The problem is:
Why should players now follow the rules?
When they know it won't have any consequences to break the rules and use exploits wherever you can?
If even a case that is so extreme and so precisely documented had no consequences?

If you use ingame features to play like a pirate/ mercenary org - okay. Thats your playstyle. If the other orgs don't like it, its in their responsibility to do sth. about.
But a massive bug abuse like this is clearly NQs scope.

It was not allowed to use bugs or exploits and it was declared that it can be punished with starting of the beta. This update of the rules was good but not nessecary for the punishment.

meigrafd reacted to NQ-Naerais in Clarification regarding Bug Exploits & Griefing
    Hello Noveans,

We realize there is some confusion regarding whether certain scenarios occurring within the game world are permitted or not, and would like to clarify these points for everyone.  In short, we’d like to ask our community to use common sense when encountering issues in the game;  If it looks like an exploit, smells like an exploit (do pixels smell?), or sounds like an exploit, chances are it is an exploit. Don’t DU it! Report it. (support.dualthegame.com)

We are in a testing phase, and reporting these bugs/issues is important. Abusing them may lead to sanctions against accounts, up to and including removal from the game. We will not take ignorance as an excuse, especially in the following list of scenarios. Please note this is not an exhaustive list, and we will continue to expand upon it as needed:

“ALT + F4 Emergency Brake”: We acknowledge this is not an intended game play loop that is being intentionally used by players. We do plan to counter this action in the future but do not consider it high priority at this time. At this time, we will not take action against an account for using such. [Allowed]
Parenting Ships - Dragged to PVP Space: This is a hot topic and one we wish to be very clear on. Intentionally parenting any construct without permission of the owner is not intended for game play. A fix has been rolled out that will address the ability to parent constructs together via the maneuver tool. As we have not previously clarified this point, we will not retroactively punish this abuse, as of this moment forward abusing similar bugs/tools to replicate this maneuver in its current state can result in disciplinary actions on an account. [Not Allowed]
Attacking PVP Zone from Safe Space: Our team has been investigating complaints of ships being attacked in the PVP zone from ships outside of the zone. Our investigations strongly point to sync issues between clients. We will continue to work with this feature, but recommend players consider the zone lines for PVP to be somewhat fluid and not absolute. Our version of the neutral zone! We ask that you continue to report cases with positions, but will not action accounts at this time, unless an additional exploit is discovered. [Allowed]
Overlapping engines with other elements (obscuring): A fix will be rolled out that will prevent this from occurring. No action will be taken, unless additional abuse is occurring. [Allowed]
Theft Via RDMS: RDMS permissions and settings are the sole discretion of each player. We advise you take the time to get to know and understand the system and be cautious when making a construct or element usable by unknown players, including the use of your friends list. Not every player has your best interest at heart. We can not get involved with permission based theft, whether as an individual or an organization. We encourage you to review your friends list each time you add or remove someone and ensure your construct permissions are set accordingly. The context menu options that set public access currently do not have a confirmation prompt, be careful as setting public access to said construct will allow every player in Dual Universe to go into build mode and remove/place elements and voxels.  [Allowed]

Environmental Walls/Creations: Use of the environmental and voxel tools allows the manipulation of terrain on owned and unowned tiles. You may build walls or other structures up to the allowed height, however, said constructions must not:  Block access to market places or tutorials Must abide by our Community Standards (phallic/sexual, political, religious or otherwise offensive shapes are not permitted) Must not be placed with the intention of interfering with neighboring players. When players can not agree, the final decision on what is and is not acceptable is decided on a case-by-case basis by Novaquark staff.

Marketplace Construct Parking: Players are permitted to park at marketplaces with their transport vehicles so long as they are not preventing use to other players or obstructing entry or exit points. Vehicles whose purpose is advertising (organization, service or otherwise) must abide by the following rules.  Organizations and individuals wishing to advertise at markets may have one advertising construct per district maximum Constructs may not be larger than “Small” sized Constructs may not block access to any building, entry points or dispensers Advertisements must not be placed/parented on constructs that don’t belong to you Constructs that violate these terms will be removed from the game without warning or compensation.
Mass Manipulation in Transportation:  Players who utilize bugs to bypass the weight penalty of their inventory, other players, other constructs, etc to move mass through the game are not permitted. This includes: Adding additional mass to an already piloted ship [Fixed] Docking mass to an already piloted ship [Fixed] Circumventing linked container range [Fix Pending] [Not Allowed]
Item Duplication: Any method of duplicating items or resources (including quanta) is not allowed at any time. Any incidents of bugs of this nature must be reported to the support team at support.dualthegame.com [Not Allowed]
Boarding without permission: As the deployment of the docking update is pending, the boarding of other players' constructs without consent will be considered an exploit. [Not Allowed]

Offenders will be teleported away; repeat offenders may be subject to more serious repercussions.

If you are boarded by another player and wish to have them removed, please report it either by creating a ticket here or by messaging @gm through the in-game Help channel.

We do recommend you keep regular backups of your constructs in the form of blueprints in the case you lose a ship (through intended means (sale, give away etc),or undesired results such as in PVP, you can still recreate it later.

How to Blueprint (to save your ship/build):
Enter build-mode on the construct, right click anywhere on the construct and click “Create Blueprint”. The blueprint will then be generated inside your currently active inventory. It is wise to keep hold of a copy of any of your blueprints inside your personal nanopack, as these are safe and not lost upon respawning.

We realize this is not an exhaustive list, and we will expand upon it as time goes on. We also understand some members of our community feel that using a bug or exploit prior to acknowledgement by Novaquark is considered okay. We’d like to state that any intentional use of a  bug or exploit will be treated harshly going forward. This is the one and only warning we will issue on this topic. Please just don’t DU it!

On behalf of the entire team, we thank you for helping us make Dual Universe a better place!

    Sincerely,
    The Novaquark Team

meigrafd reacted to hdparm in [Lua] [Script] Basic space-only autopilot
    About
This is a basic autopilot script that can accelerate your construct towards a planet and later apply brakes to stop. Vertical space engines are used to control drift.

    Requirements
Space brakes, 1.5+ g. Vertical space engines (pointing down), 0.3+ g. A remote controller or a separate hovercraft seat. Limitations
No manual piloting. Use another script to get to space and to land. No collision avoidance. Make sure there are no planets, moons, asteroids, space stations or pirates between you and the destination. Planet positions are stored in the script. If NQ moves the planets, the script will have to be updated. Set-up
    With an auto-configuration schema (recommended)
Download this file to Game\data\lua\autoconf\custom in your Dual Universe installation directory. By default it's C:\ProgramData\Dual Universe\Game\data\lua\autoconf\custom Right-click the control unit (a remote controller or a hovercraft seat) and select "Update custom autoconf list". This needs to be done only once. Right-click the control unit and select "Actions for this element", "Run custom autoconfigure", "Basic Space Autopilot". With a pasteable script configuration
Open this link and copy everything to clipboard. Right-click the control unit (a remote control or a hover seat) and select "Actions for this element", "Paste Lua configuration from clipboard". The game should display a "Lua script loaded" message. If it did not, restart the game and copy the script configuration again. Link the core (required) and fuel tanks (optional) to the control unit. Credits
Many planet positions were provided by @meigrafd from Hyperion.
The script was bundled (amalgamated from multiple .lua files) using amalg.

    Change log
2020-09-23. Fixed heavy constructs not accelerating past 29997 km/h. A radar widget will be displayed if a PVP radar is linked (not available on remote controllers). Tested in r0.22.2.
2020-09-16. Posted the first version outside the NDA forums section. Tested in r0.21.6.

I guess this was written a while ago as this was already fixed.

Unless clarified otherwise I will take this as relating to how EQU8 is set up and thus is missing "on the same machine" since the launcher does not allow multiple logins anyway and can't be run twice. Running an instance with a different account on a separate PC or in a VM at the same time would not fall under this. It seems odd for NQ to have actively promoted/driven backers to create multiple accounts to buy additional pledges to then tell them they can't use these at any time (with the restriction of being run on the same machine at the same time).

Please clarify @NQ-Nyzaltar, and thank you./

Please reconsider this. People who want to multibox will not stop because you simply say their not allowed. It just raises the barrier to entry for people who want to. This game involves a lot of waiting around if it's for industry or slowboating and allowing people to do fun things on an alt allows them and others they play with to have more fun playing the game.

Well NQ, to be honest, yes these steps you made are totally necessary, BUT the DLLs gave us features you still didn't gave us and that are absolutely required.

    These are for example:
    - external requests for receiving and sending data to our own apis (VERY IMPORTANT)
    - a json encoding/deconding that is not stupidly slow
    - communication between programming boards
    - and more

The coder community in this game is big and needs more specialized features to make this game as great as it deserves to be. But if you restrict everything and give us nothing back, I don't know how long coders will stick to the game.

I am actually quiet disappointed how coders get ignored and handled like 2nd class people.

    Hi guys,

Following up the release of the third Alpha 2 DevBlog about Lua, we wanted to develop things further for the most curious, dedicated and skilled among you. The API has changed so you guys will have to redo a certain amount of stuff. This being said, you'll find below some documentation that will allow you to do pretty neat stuff so knock yourselves out!

Thanks to NQ-Arlequin for his help and for writing this!

    How does it work

All ControlUnits (Cockpits, HovercraftSeats and ProgramingBoards) can display information on the screen when activated by the current player. CockpitUnits and PilotingSeats have predefined behavior that should suit most players. However advanced players can edit the ControlUnit LUA script to adapt the display to their needs.
There are different levels of customization possible:

Intermediate Difficulty: Show/hide the default widget of an element linked to the Control Unit. Advanced Difficulty: Mixing those widgets in custom panels. (New in Alpha 2) Expert Difficulty: Create custom widgets from your own data or existing elements data. (New in Alpha 2) Expert Difficulty: Create your own HTML code to display custom content on your screen. (Modified in Alpha 2)

    Default behavior

    Cockpit view

    Hovercraft Seat

    Programing Board

Hovercraft Seat and Programming Board widgets do stack:

    Adding/removing element widgets in Lua

    API:
    slot.show() slot.hide()
    Default Cockpit LUA Script

We can instead only show the Core Unit widget, and hide the Control Unit widget (shown by default):
    core.show() unit.hide()

NEW - Reorganizing Element widgets within panels in Lua

    API:
    system.createWidgetPanel(title) → panelId system.destroyWidgetPanel(panelId) system.createWidget(panelId, type) → widgetId system.destroyWidget(widgetId) system.addDataToWidget(dataId, widgetId) system.removeDataFromWidget(dataId, widgetId) slot.getDataId() → dataId slot.getWidgetType() → type
Instead of having all the fuel container widgets in different panels, I can create my own panel and add all fuel widgets to this panel:
    fuelPanel = system.createWidgetPanel("Fuel Tanks") for i=1,container_size do widget = system.createWidget(fuelPanel, container[i].getWidgetType()) system.addDataToWidget(container[i].getDataId(), widget) end

NEW - Creating custom widgets in Lua

    API:
    system.createData(json) → dataId system.destroyData(dataId) system.updateData(dataId, json) slot.getData() → json
You can finally write your own custom data, and display them using predefined custom widget types. 4 exist for now: text, title, value, and gauge.
     panel = system.createWidgetPanel("Panel")     -- Display “Hello World” widgetText = system.createWidget(panel, "text") dataText = system.createData('{"text": "Hello World"}') system.addDataToWidget(dataText, widgetText) -- Display a title “Title” widgetTitle = system.createWidget(panel, "title") dataTitle = system.createData('{"text": "Title"}') system.addDataToWidget(dataTitle, widgetTitle) -- Display a gauge filled at 60% widgetGauge = system.createWidget(panel, "gauge") dataGauge = system.createData('{"percentage": 60}') system.addDataToWidget(dataGauge, widgetGauge) -- Display “Weight  80 kg” widgetValue = system.createWidget(panel, "value") dataValue = system.createData('{"label": "Weight", "value": "80", "unit": "kg"}') system.addDataToWidget(dataValue, widgetValue)

You can now combine all those methods to create your own customized panels.

CHANGED- Customize screen using html code.

    API:
system.setScreen(htmlContent) system.showScreen(1/0) You can write your own html code to change the appearance of the control unit screen. It will be displayed below the widgets, so if you want full control: you can hide all widgets.

    html = '<div class="monitor_left window">' html = html .. '<div class="center window">monitor_left</div>' html = html .. '</div>' html = html .. '<div class="monitor_right" style="background-color: red;">' html = html .. '<div class="center window">monitor_right</div>' html = html .. '</div>' system.setScreen(html) system.showScreen(1)

    Predefined style classes

class=”monitor_left”         defines the area of the left monitor.
class=”monitor_right”        defines the area of the right monitor.

class=”grid”         stacks all its child elements on an invisible wrapping vertical grid.
class=”center”        positions an element centered to its parent. Can be the viewport.

class=”window”        applies the Dual Universe background and border.

Well, that's it for this time! We hope you'll enjoy the info here to surprise us

meigrafd reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Novaquark welcomes Yamamushi to the team!
    Dear Community Members,

We have some very exciting news to share. Many of you who have been here for a long time probably already know Yamamushi. As one of the co-founders of the official community Discord and an early Kickstarter backer, Yamamushi has been around as a very active and well known community member for almost 4 years now.

We are excited to have him joining the team. With him coming on board, a few important things are going to change and we wanted to be transparent about this with you all.  We have always valued neutrality for our employees and we try to avoid any conflict of interests. Like all other employees he is bound to some important communication restrictions. Yamamushi must discontinue being a community figure while he is employed with Novaquark. This means stepping down as a moderator on Discord and our public forums, while retaining some limited administrative rights (precisely to maintain the DU Bot). He is also bound by an internal NDA contract and won’t be able to share everything as a Novaquark employee. For those who are friends with him, we ask you to avoid attempting to get behind-the-scene information from him, regarding the game or the company.

He won’t be able to communicate or play anymore as Yamamushi, but his love for the community is strong and he will continue to follow the community from the Dev side. He will also not be permitted to be a part of a player-run organization. We know this can be hard to face for such an integral part of our community and this has been a hard decision that may feel frustrating (at least it is for us and for him) but a necessary step to avoid any suspicion of favorizing any group of players in the community.

We would also like to take this opportunity to explain what are our internal rules when a member of our community becomes a Novaquark employee:

His/her personal accounts are suspended for the time he/she is a Novaquark employee.
He/she is given an anonymous player account so he/she could still continue to play the game, however, some specific rules apply to such an account:
      a. The Novaquark employee behind should not reveal his/her real identity and/or he’s part of the company.
      b. He/she shouldn’t join a player-run organization with this account either, for neutrality reasons.
He/she is given a NQ account, mostly to test things, and occasionally to communicate with the community in-game (if such opportunity arises). Nothing done on this account (coming usually with more powers/rights than a player account) will be transferred on any personal account.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, please join us in welcoming Yamamushi to the team here!

    Best Regards,
    The Novaquark Team.

meigrafd reacted to NQ-Nyzaltar in Devblog - r0.15 Update (Part 3): Barter System!
(this DevBlog has been posted on the website on May 2nd, 2019)

    Hey guys!
This is NQ-Entropy coming at you today with a new DevBlog about what we’re calling Barter, or to be more precise—direct-player trading.

Now Markets aren't going anywhere, and we expect the majority of transactions to be done there. But often in the depths of the wilderness, you may not have direct access to a Market and might need the helping hand of a stranger to obtain an extra part or element.

That being said, let's talk about our new Barter system. The Barter system is going to allow players to directly trade items and Quanta between one another in the game world. You’ll be able to do this by approaching another player, opening the drop-down menu by right-clicking on the player, and selecting “Barter”.

The player receiving an attempt to barter will be notified with a prompt asking him to confirm or deny it, which he can do by using the “y” or “n” keys. Should that player be AFK or totally ignore you, the request will automatically timeout after 30 seconds. If a player is in a position or location where a Barter isn’t possible, the issuer will be notified.

If a player initiates a Barter and another accepts, a brand new interface will pop up; welcome to your Barter screen.

The Barter interface is split into four key areas. Starting from the top left, you will see your Bartering partner’s name and basket, with all items or Quanta they may put up for trade. In the top right is your domain, where you can see your personal basket and what items or Quanta you’ve decided to offer. Keep in mind that these screens are updated in real-time, and both parties will see baskets revise as you add or remove items or modify Quanta.

In the bottom right, you’ll find your inventory which will work exactly as you would expect. You’ll be able to use all of your standard inventory filters and search functionality to find the items you want to Barter.

In order to move items from your inventory to your basket and vice versa, there are several methods:
Drag and Drop: You can click, hold, and drag items. Double Click: Double-clicking on any item will move it to the other location. Contextual Menu: You can right-click on any item and select to move it manually from the drop-down menu.
The Shift key will still work the same way it always has when moving items that are stacked, allowing you to split stacks of items appropriately.

You will notice two buttons next to your respective baskets. This is how you and your partner will confirm that you are satisfied with the current Barter and are ready to proceed with the exchange—however, there are a couple of important things to note.

At a basic level, both partners have individual confirmation buttons to designate that they are ready to proceed with the trade. Once both parties agree and have confirmed, the exchange will go through instantly.

At any point during this confirmation, should either player change anything in their basket  (remove an item, add an item, change quanta, etc.) all activated confirmations will be deselected. For example, if I am Bartering an engine for 100 Quanta and I confirm this exchange, my partner may decide to change 100 Quanta to 50, which will automatically deselect my initial offer.

The exchange will proceed only when both parties have confirmed the exchange. Speaking in game terms, if I am Bartering an engine for 100 Quanta and confirm this exchange, and neither basket is modified, once my partner activates their confirmation, the trade will instantly complete.

Lastly in the bottom left, you will see your chat. You can use it normally to access your other chat channels, but initiating a Barter will automatically prompt an additional chat window between both players to discuss trading terms. Once the Barter is complete or if the Barter is canceled, this window will automatically close.

In the event that you are unable to receive items due to volume considerations, your confirmation button will turn red to indicate this. If your button turns red on a confirmation attempt, that means that you do not have adequate inventory space to accept new items.

Barter will work with the linked container in a limited fashion. When entering a Barter, you will only be able to trade using one inventory source at a time; either your main character inventory or your linked container. This will be defined by your linked container option in the inventory. Should the inventory you are Bartering from becoming too full, you will have the option to transfer items from your current inventory to a secondary one.

At this time, you will not be able to trade dynamic objects such as Territory Scanner results and Blueprints, but this is something we’re striving to accomplish in the future.

    Thanks for your support, guys!
As always, feel free to drop any feedback you have to share with us in this forum thread

meigrafd reacted to DarkHorizon in Non-English Organizations Directory
    Greetings everyone!

As we all know Dual Universe will attract people from all over the world, not all of whom can speak English or French. Recently with the French localization of the game and website, I thought it would be a good idea to make a directory of all organizations that can speak a language other than English.

Feel free to leave a post below with your organization name, a link to your organization page on the community website, and the language(s) that can be spoken and understood by some or even all of its members. Your organization can be listed under multiple languages just so long as the requirement they be spoken and understood is met.

Google Translate assisted me with turning the English into the languages name in that specific language. If you're a native and I made a mistake, please correct me!

I know that "predefined sounds" is on the "Considered" list on Trello: https://trello.com/c/HVdTjEsH/51-functional-scriptable-speakers-able-to-play-predefined-sounds

While I think that would be cool, I think it would be cooler if we had access to a synth sound module through LUA to build and sequence our own custom sounds.

Writing sound synthesis by hand isn't unheard of in LUA, for example:

And even more, here are some tracks composed entirely with LUA:
    https://soundcloud.com/luehi/systemf  https://soundcloud.com/luehi/luacid1 https://soundcloud.com/luehi/early https://soundcloud.com/luehi/selfkitchen https://soundcloud.com/luehi/luaessay5 https://soundcloud.com/luehi/movk
I think that giving us the flexibility to define our own sounds with such an approach would be incredibly more valuable than choosing from a list of predefined sounds.

In case anyone is wondering, yes I am suggesting this because I want a night club in DU.

Today, Lord JC hosted an Ask Me Anything event in the official community discord. Below is a transcript of the questions and answers for those of you that missed it.  ?

    -----

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:01 AM
hi guys! This is JC, the creative director of Dual Universe! Just wanted to come here and spend a moment with you, to celebrate the fact we now have an official discord!

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:03 AM
hey, no big announcement today, but a chance to chat, so let's go! I met some of you guys at Gamescom but I wanted to have the opportunity to talk to all of you guys online

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:05 AM
a huge thank you to the community and the discord moderators too, by the way! This discord is just amazing!

    [N.C.] ZerroxToday at 11:05 AM
What about Alpha 1 starting in november, will you be able to stick to the roadmap?
    Timing wise?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:06 AM
@[N.C.] Zerrox so far, we are on track for the alpha in the second half of November, as planned

    DreamcatcherToday at 11:04 AM
Well always bugged me, how long did it take for you guys to build that giant space station above alioth ?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:06 AM
    @Dreamcatcher a long time!

    ZetamanToday at 11:07 AM
can you tell us if it will be along the same format as pre alpha or will the sessions be longer?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:09 AM
@Zetaman no big changes in the access times so far, expect still the usual weekly access
    vonboyToday at 11:07 AM
What's some random bug that's made you laugh out loud the most at it happening?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:10 AM
@vonboy no bug makes me laugh ?

    [N.C.] ZerroxToday at 11:08 AM
Short question: What happened to the group picture we took at the gamescom meetup? I really wanna have a copy of that!

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:12 AM
@[N.C.] Zerrox we... lost the camera in the train. Sorry about that, no pic!

    [HYP] z0KngToday at 11:10 AM
Are Astreoids planned in deep space? And if so will they have ressources?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:14 AM
@[HYP] z0Kng too soon for the asteroids in Nov, but definitely will be a thing at some point. Well actually, there are some asteroids already around Thades, but nothing to mine yet.
Masc™ of AvacynToday at 11:12 AM

@NQ-Sophon Hey JC, is there any plans for collision physics in space? (ships colliding with each other and causing voxel destruction, etc)
    NQ-SophonToday at 11:16 AM

@Masc™ of Avacyn no destructive collision is planned. This would lead to problematic gameplay side effects.
    AgecomToday at 11:12 AM
Is it going to be possible to create his own currency?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:17 AM
@Agecom no, there is only one official currency (quanta). Stabilizing a currency that would work for commerce would be to slow a process otherwise, and we need a fully functional economy right from the start.

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:20 AM
about PvP: it's a bit too soon to go into details, we are working on the precise game mechanics.

    [HYP] SkeletmasterToday at 11:18 AM
what can you say about that we get in the near future except from crafting

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:22 AM
@[HYP] Skeletmaster the crafting will most likely come as a first iteration that "gets the job done", but it still far from the integrated gameplay we have in mind.

    hdparmToday at 11:19 AM
@JC some  players are investigating atmospheric drag. Does DU use this equation https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/drageq.html , or some other?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:23 AM
@hdparm we use both quadratic and linear drag, but otherwise yes, it's based on this equation (for the quadratic side at least)

    Einu VeiToday at 11:19 AM
@NQ-Sophon Will market units be synchronised with a central system/cache of resources, or will each one have an individual storage limit and market forces dictated by that storage limit?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:24 AM
@Einu Vei markets will have their own containers attached, so how much you can trade on them will depend on the aggregated size of these containers

    wakamaToday at 11:21 AM
Is ground combat actually going to be a thing to for example take over zones on planets?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:25 AM
@wakama yes, territory units will be attackable, if they are not deployed at a safe zone/sanctuary moon.

[N.C] Infinite GamerToday at 11:17 AM
so what are the main goals you are hoping to achieve by Alpha 1?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:28 AM
@[N.C] Infinite Gamer so far, the development is on check, but we can NEVER be sure there will be no unforeseen problem, because we are doing very innovative stuffs.

    ChronoToday at 11:25 AM
will be there tool for mining that help to find ores over 400m ? or tool crafting for mining ?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:28 AM
@Chrono yes, there will be more tools for mining added, at least ways to inform you better about what's in a given region.

    Einu VeiToday at 11:26 AM
@NQ-Sophon Does that mean the prices of those items will vary from market unit to market unit, depending on how much is stored in the containers, or will the market price system be centralised while the inventory system is distributed, aka a hybrid system?(edited)

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:30 AM
@Einu Vei the market system is very similar to Eve Online, so no fixed prices, and local market equilibrium are possible

    wakamaToday at 11:26 AM
Also if all players spawn at one planet how will you make sure the terrain won’t end up totally messed up.  Will it respawn or something?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:30 AM
@wakama the areas around the Arkship spawn point will not be editable (up to a distance we are still discussing)

    [N.C.] ZerroxToday at 11:27 AM
@NQ-Sophon , will there be renewable energy? Can you make a base self-sufficient?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:31 AM
@[N.C.] Zerrox too soon to talk about energy, but energy will be a thing, yes

    DestrinToday at 11:29 AM
    @NQ-Sophon any ETA on anti-grav

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:32 AM
    @Destrin antigrav for Alpha!

    [HYP] meigrafdToday at 11:31 AM
JC when your planning to add organisations into the game itself?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:33 AM
    @[HYP] meigrafd https://www.dualthegame.com/en/news/2018/08/08/release-roadmap-alpha-launch-announcement/

    hdparmToday at 11:32 AM
@NQ-Sophon last week's patch broke a few lua scripts (due to some functions being moved from one element to another). In the future, could changes like these be announced in advance, so that we can prepare our scripts before the test?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:35 AM
@hdparm sorry about the LUA change, it should not really happen again, or else we will add a retrocompatibility layer. We mostly add stuff now.

    CostaniusToday at 11:30 AM
@NQ-Sophon  JC, what tech or feature or accomplishment are You especially proud of so far?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:36 AM
@Costanius I'm extremely proud of our server tech and voxel tech, and especially proud of our team!

    [HYP] meigrafdToday at 11:36 AM
JC how tall is the chance to get any kind of move-/rotate- able elements controlled over lua, after release?

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:38 AM
@[HYP] meigrafd I would love to, but it won't happen for now, definitely not in alpha

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:39 AM
guys, let's take a last question, as I've got to go for today!

    [PRF] MegadddToday at 11:40 AM
@JC I've seen what happens to Minecraft servers with populations of 100-200 people where they are allowed to excavate everything. Absolutely every surface feature is decimated for kilometers from the starting area within weeks. It is conservative to say the DU launch will be orders of magnitude more populated, and mining in DU is much more powerful than in minecraft. Will you implement automatic surface restoration (erosion) algorithms? Suffice to say natural terrain that looks like it was carpet bombed everywhere would not be pleasing new player experience.

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:42 AM
@[PRF] Megaddd it's still in discussion, but we certainly don't want "ore fountains" that are infinite sources of wealth. And damage done to the surface of the planet should be minimal as most ore are deep underground. But we need to test this, and probably come up with many ideas to make it work!

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:43 AM
that's it guys! It was great exchanging with you today!

    NQ-SophonToday at 11:43 AM
    Thanks everyone!

    Hi,

We're always happy to see enthusiasm regarding our game and we're thankful for that. This being said, here are a few things to keep in mind to be sure to keep things clear and healthy for everybody:
Dual Universe community members must comply with all the rules established by Novaquark (Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, EULA, Forum Rules, everything) Even if we have nothing to say about the rules other developers establish to manage their games and services, we will never encourage any behavior bending or breaking Terms of Service or other kinds of code of conduct of any sort regarding a non-Novaquark game or service If our own rules and policy are not clear enough at a defined time, we'll update them as soon as possible to reflect as best as possible what we want -or not- to see happening in the community. This is done to keep things fun for everybody. Players feedback is very important here As we always said, we want to foster a warm and welcoming community. This asks to establish rules and guidelines. Common sense means that some are permanent and others could evolve as time goes by. So to make sure everybody has a good time, we kindly advise respecting the rules you agreed to comply with by creating a Novaquark account (and to do that in other games in general).

Dual Universe is a sandbox game and by nature, everything will be open. That's one of the most exciting things about our game. It has never been done like that before. At least, not at this scale. We're not naive, all kinds of behaviors will emerge from it.

Concerning the behaviors outside the game, same thing. And we want to prevent as much as possible the bad kind of actions we too often see as gamers and that are a plague for our passion. Grey and black market key exchange/selling/whatever-little-arrangements are among them. This is not something desirable when you want to maintain things cool for everybody.
It's not only frowned upon, we clearly disapprove that. A free key is a free key. It must be gifted for nothing in return. We know how things work though, we're not idiots (we're gamers too) and we will try to prevent that as much as possible with the means and resources at our disposal.
Again, if our current rules are not clear enough, we'll update them to reflect what is okay and what's not and the possible rewards or sanctions that could come out of that. And as always, the dialog with you guys remains open.

We'll give news on the roadmap this Summer, as announced. We're also considering new ATV members and will communicate about that in due time.

    Cheers,
    Nomad
