  1. Hi, I worked my way to the water surface from the ocean floor unit by unit and am now at the top with a core unit, but im not sure if my unit is level/the 1-voxel layer thick platform ive layed is level.

Any suggestions on how to lay a core that will be level with the water? by "level" i mean 'not off angle,' not 'right on the surface of the water.'

    thanks

  2. I definitely think wipes for greater technology is a logical sacrifice. In my opinion most of the issues are simply things that we need to be patient on. Its a very complicated game. Things like economics are gonna take a while to level out. Again this is just my opinion but it seems natural that things are going to take a while to distribute and reach an equilibrium in the markets. The current economic system seems pretty well set up to me. Seems like it'll scale down the line well. People can specialize in mining, refining, or producing or trading/shipping. Seems great

Overall I just really like that they're trying to let us do everything possible in the game within reason. Like the last person said, its nice that people can focus only on the aspects they want for the most part.

  3. I just wanted to take a moment and share my awe with the current state of the game. I come from an extensive gaming background and pledged around two years ago (give or take). Ive been so excited and just recently started putting in lots of time (I've played over the years).

This game is so beautiful. I usually hang out on Jago on the ocean floor and around the water. Its so stunning and fun. I love the mining mechanics and flying mechanics. The industry seems wonderful so far. All in all this game just seems to be doing so well and Im very happy to be able to say that.

I'm hopeful that a single person will be able to scale their combat capabilities a little so its not entirely reliant on other people (an example of this could be investing lots of money into your stations' defences, making it able to withstand larger forces). Other than that small worry around combat, this game is really great. Thank you devs ❤️

(PS, I didnt intend for this to be a discussion of what combat might become. Thats not the purpose of this post. Id prefer to discuss that individually or just wait for more information to come out)

oh no it has been verry clear from the start that if we wanted large fighting ships with multiple guns. that we were going to have to have a crew of people manning them.

that they want no or as little automated battle as possible.   they don't want this to be a game of "who is the best coder"

so i don't know who told you that.  but it wasn't the devs.  and they were lying to get you to play.

I dont think this is factually correct. Some of the earliest discussions of static constructs were talking about automated defenses so the station can defend itself. I think we are going to see some ability for scripting targeting and firing but will be limited in how many lines of code we can do and things like that. It was explained that way by jq in early interviews.

  5. What you're saying is what I'm saying I'd like to see. Im not saying it should be something that makes you undetectable. Im just saying it would be cool to have a stealth mechanic that also applied a cloak effect to your ship. There is no difference.

Does someone have to be flying the ship for the gunner to function? like could a person exit the flight controller and go to the gunner seat

  6. Will a single person be able to pilot a very large ship and fire its weapons, just at lower efficiency than a crew using the weapons?

Are "auto defenses" going to be a thing in one way or another with restrictions and such?

are cloaking devices still gonna be a thing?

None of this is meant to imply complaint, and I know things are still up in the air. Thanks

  7. This may or may not be helpful but I personally enjoy the direction of all the development. The only thing I'm not enjoying is the tech side, hopefully there will be a lot of optimization. I run a really high end system and I still struggle with it. In my opinion they have a lot to do and have been chipping away at it at a good pace and in a good way. My vote would be stay the course, really like what's been done and my excitement hasn't lost any momentum.

I'm not sure why people are upset that certain aspects of the game aren't fully developed. This is a beta. That seems to me to be the point

  8. Hi, I was wondering if I could hear from NQ staff their thoughts on when the server could have a significant amount more of up time in the context of the road map recently released. I realize exact times aren't known, but hearing the team's thoughts would be really nice.

If this was already asked, I apologize and ask to be directed to the relevant post!

    Thank you for your time!

  9. I want to upgrade my GPU, specifically for DU. I currently have a GeForce 750 ti. I cant spend any more than 400, and would like to be below 300. I have an AMD 8 core cpu that works really well, and a large TV and two monitors.

Could anyone give any suggestions or thoughts? I love the main benchmark site, but I dont know enough about GPUs to know the subtle differences in the specs etc.

    Thanks

  10. If you had TU units down, would you really even need to patrol? Since no one could build without blowing one up, and DU has mentioned email notifications for shields (surely some form of notification for TU units? or could see on the map that its not blue any more?), so surely you should be able to assess the state of your territory without physically going to each unit.

Also, not to be cliche, but space is vast. If you find a remote enough system, shouldn't you have it to your self, at least for a time? Or at least theoretically possible.

I'm excited to see how the political meta and grand strategy plays out between the various organizations down to the little guy. Dual Universe feels like the first game where you can really live out a life of your own in a sci fi setting. It's been a long time since a developer brought a truly sandbox mmo to the world, and with NQs new server tech, we may be witnessing history here. :D

Also, pew pew and all that.

You said my feelings better than I could have said my feelings

  12. What are you most excited to do in DU?

What are you most excited to build?

What are you most excited to experience?

Im very excited for the grand strategy aspect. I am excited for combat, and the hugely dynamic combat system thats gonna be in place. Im super excited to see thing like shipping and mining thrive, and to see others' creativity. You always get to see some really cool stuff when you get tons of people a good creative outlet.
