With current state of game its cheaper to warp than hire an escort, so till atmospheric pvp comes in , this duscussion has no merit.
and as why, i detest people deciding to play role of villain, here is an example:

Last week there was a player who got ambushed and killed in pvp while he was trying to relocate, slowboating was only option as he could not afford a warp just yet, so he packed all his belongings and tried his luck.
When he got killed , he tried to negotiate release of his ship and his items, and basically got told to bugger of( i am being nice here)
So dont expect from me any help in getting piracy profitable endeavor.

Thats why in one of the previous posts i mentioned weak and gullible, as majority of players who slowboat are those who cant afford a warp drive. which quite often ends up in them quitting.
You have no idea how many ppl i actually helped with quanta/items so they dont quit after being robbed.

Why would a hard working Novean  like myself contributing to society and rebuilding a civilization, should be concerned about  pirates well being?

You have decided to play a role of a scum of the galaxy and prey on weak and gullible, and when those found only way to get back at you, you start complaining.
Victims can loose  hours of hard work and millions of quanta so can you.

Scorched earth policy existed as  a military strategy for centuries, same as piracy. I call it a legit tactic . Kill the target quick enough so victim can not do it .

True - but by the same token, many would in fact hope the pirates just take the high value cargo and leave them with their not very valuable to the pirates but exceptionally valuable to the merchants lives....

This is why in EVE we would try to ransom ships once we had them in a bubble. We both knew that it was usually more profitable for me and you to just pay me off.

DU does not have tackling mechanics so such finesse isn't an option.

So yes - throwing shit overboard is fine - but there do need to be better mechanics.

Yes, I think trashing engine etc is spiteful behaviour.
Disabling build mode sounds fair but not trash.  As I said.  I think throwing away your cargo is a legitimate tactic and could (and has been) be employed in real world to discourage pirates.  So taking away that ability would be taking away players rights IMO.  However, cargo thrown overboard, should be overboard somewhere.  That, is probably going to be hard to implement.

This is already botched - because solo players and small orgs will automatically get discouraged because you can be damn sure you will never be able to get the rewards when large, RICH, organisations waltz in with 1000 ships, surround the planet and claim the riches for themselves, making them even richer.
So, yeah, solo players and small orgs will definitely get discouraged and will not bother to even attempt to be part of this anymore.

Your nature, not mine.  Not a lot of people, excepting mostly  monotheist.  Kill to defend?  Sure, if absolutely necessary.  Kill for food - that is the nature of life.  Kill for fun?  No, not by a longshot.  Sad to be you.

Sandbox massive multiplayer game means i can choose whatever path i want to obtain what i want, im perfectly fine with, that solo path would be much harder but it should never be impossible. If the game by design forces any type or activity/path to be able to participate in content is not sandbox anymore.

In a sandbox game why are they forcing their vision when its supposed to be an organic choice that all players make instead of funneling players into choke points as fodder which will be like shooting fish in a barrel? That is not going to end well when the resources her run out and you cant break into the zone. If they put multi org blockades on these jump gates they will have a solar system exclusively to themselves until we simply just dont have the resources to come through anymore then what happens to 60-75% of the rest of us once all our ships are destroyed and we cant make anymore?

Why is the only route for advancement beyond personal advancement? And NO personal industry does not equal Org industry advancement when a single person can get a large cube fully decked out in a month. Why is there no Org only versions with the same mats for things like frigates, frieghters, corvett, and capital ships through orgs now? That stuff shouldnt require alien tech now. We got here on an Arc ship which should in theory be larger than a mothership you would think.

There is a difference between vision and execution of that vision and the fundamental impact it will have on the overall community. Not trying to brag here but I have been playing MMOs since UO and likely 125+ MMOs overall including most if not all the best pvp games (besides Eve) and I can tell you that if you give the top orgs the keys to the kingdom they will use it to the fullest extent allowed to shut down and shut out everyone else. Not to mention allowing them to mine, stockpile, hoard, and arm themselves for that time. Its going to be a trainwreck when 25% of the population will ever get to see any of that content and further distance themselves with that tech until NQ gives them another solar system to dominate after they have strip mined that too. Sweeeet, what vision.

Just depends on how they go about letting us go to this new solar system. If you can fly there on your own it might be fine but if you have to take any kind of star gate or some kind of long distant warp-gate to get there and its full pvp then nobody but pvp guilds will be there. After the large orgs finish wholesale strip mining this place and you cant get anything you came for on any of the planets here or progress then again only the large orgs will be able to go there. And if you give them an entire solar system to abuse and wholesale sack dry and prevent anyone from doing anything then eventually those large orgs will merge together so that they do own the new solar system. Once they finish looting all the alien tech take a guess what will happen after that lol. They will take that superior tech then use it on the rest of the people who cant get to new said solar system because not only are there any resources left in this one but no means to fight back against them at that point lol. Sounds super fun.

So when they start dumping all those new mats and technology back in this solar system they finish everyone else off because they can then giveth and taketh it away at will along with the whole market credit pool after that and run the whole market as they see fit. Then once they steal all our credits then there is no reason to come back.

So when you consider destructive elements on top of that you can only fight back as long as the resources hold out. Sounds like an awesome foolproof plan unless they totally reset the beta when they add all this in. But then again. But that is just delaying the enivitable.

Most of the community does not support banning of those players. The didn't exploit anything. They just pressed B and played a game.

Thought I would write this up before I leave, If anything for NQ to take as feedback/criticism.

The game is nothing like it was advertised, or made out to be, Which ultimately after 3 months, still is nothing near it, as such I feel really really played by NQ here. Was promised a blank canvas instead, Hundreds of Industry parts were injected into the game, was promised a player made economy, Instead Bots were put out and 100k quanta daily given out....

Played through the server downs, and the server ups, But all this game is, Is a mining simulator, and for those who stick it out, then yes you can build something for an hour, before you go back to mining. There is NO value in anything you build here, and most fixes end up breaking something else...

I'm leaving out of pure boredom, I had high hopes for the game, based off the good advertising given, NQ released a broken Alpha, and made out it was a beta, and it still isn't even worthy to be deemed a "Beta release" at this point. Things are still broken, RDMS is like a win 95 firewall system, that's over-complicated with not enough organisation logging. The skill tree is pretty much just a basic form ripped off EvE with no real optimisation to any of it, and no real value in it, until you hit level 4 in a tree, but no real motivation to go to lvl 5...

There is no ai missions to do, to fill the gaps when standing around twiddling your thumbs waiting for parts to refine/produce. The graphic options are really really lacking, like not at all what you would expect from a Beta release, the options your allowed to tweak are more what you would expect within the first couple patches of Alpha, That being said, the general graphics are run server side... Which is awful for client optimizations. There was no difference in FPS between having an 12 core/24 thread cpu, and a quad core/ 8 thread cpu which confirms the optimizations are done server side, rather than client side. Although good in one aspect, this has been proven time and time again to cause more issues through out the gaming world. All the worlds are barren, apart from Alioth/Sanctuary and Teoma, The rest are just Ball objects given very little colour, with hardly any textures on it.

The way NQ have handled some players also was a HUGE turn off for me, Like Ban people for desecrating a marketplace in a sandbox environment, due to their own RDMS mistake, but haven't banned known exploiters/griefers - That to me tells me the integrity of a company, and as of this current point, unless there is some real changes done, I wouldn't pay the subscription cost, and had I known all this beforehand, I wouldn't have pledged...

The PvP is also just an AFK simulator, You sit in a seat, staring at a pop up modal with two or three buttons to click... There is no excitement, no challenge, no skill involved in this, The overall UI and UX, sucks badly with literally no changes done to any of this in three months (Not even a small tiny bit), there are still game breaking bugs, yet NQ think it's great to not even add half of these onto their "Known bugs" list. They force the game to run/play in admin mode, which is a serious security issue and isn't needed... and while some of this is still rampant, they release an update adding emotes into the game...

The LUA coding has no documentation behind it, no API and is heavily restrictive, yes you can log the space in a container, but if you want to log what's in the container, you have to have 1 item per container, which overall causes more code to be run putting more strain on things... (To name one of the things)...

I personally feel at this stage NQ have got their priorities wrong, and have taken a lot of people for their money through over-hyping and false advertising, You can't even call this a game at this point in time, it is still very much Alpha. The overall playerbase has dropped significantly from Beta launch, and primarillyt because of things outlined above, some of which still have not been sorted.

With all this in mind, I have had an overall "Pleasant" experience, although as time has gone on, and not a lot being said, other than asking people for feedback, I won't be returning back to this game for a long time, it is currently a 50% mining sim, 40% waiting around sim and 9% of actually doing something, with 1% allowance for whatever...

I still hope NQ deliver on what they promise, but If I don't return before the beta key runs out, I will heavily consider whether or not to subscribe to this game and give even more money to support this, My overall opinion, Is that NQ are trying to make a platform to sell on to other developers, rather than actually making a game for their customers, and this shows in the serious lack in attention to detail particularly around the UI/UX...

If DU actually lived up to the hype, it would be my dream game, the sort of game that I'd spend the rest of my life playing (or so).

The reality has not lived up to the expectations. Too many systems dumbed down and simplified; and mining is utter tedium. I basically just wanted a Space Engineers MMO with Factorio / Eve / and stuff elements.

And if you ask me why I'm sticking around the forums despite rage-quitting over a month ago and not really playing since? It's because I'm desperately hoping for a compelling reason to dive back in.

You can as well add another:

The Org I know scanned one of the moons, all hexes. Like 10 guys scanning for hours. They did not find the ore that is listed in the moon description.
They submitted a ticket that the moon doesn't actually contain mineral listed in it's description and explained that they scanned all the hexes by the members of their Org.

Response, after about a month was to check the internet connection....
Should I explain why no one of that org plays now ?

Many will indeed leave because they were either misinformed or had incorrect expectations. There is no denying that and frankly is to be expected. Your assumption is just speculative though and has no merit as far as being a valid reference for who leave and why.

What should not happen is that NQ changes their vision and/or bends their game into what it is not designed to be in order to accommodate these people as IMO if they leave now, they will eave (again) as soon as the next thing shows up they do not like or expected.

So far just making the game more accessible has already diminished the game to the point it's so easy to get  into and around that the player base has pretty much caught up with (and exceeded)  where NQ wanted/expected players to go/get to in much more time than "we" have taken.

Combat in the game needs to get better, there is no denying that. I think the changes in the upcoming update will to some extend address that but it's going to be a first step.

Combat also needs to get a more defined purpose according to what NQ envisions it to be, that is also absolutely true. For that, the main focus of combat in the game, territory warfare, needs to com in and that, I expect, wil not happen anytime soon, I'd say at best we may see a first iteration around April or so and even that is very optimistic.

TW combat will, as NQ has clearly stated, favor defense over offense. How that will work no one knowns yet (including NQ) but I think it's fair to assume it will be in the form of timers similar to how this is handled in EVE.

Anyone expecting large scale random conflict and combat opportunities without any actual purpose but the pewpew I expect will find that DU is not going to cater to that. There will always be room for pirating as a playstyle sure, but it wil not be a main focus for how combat is implemented or evolves. Obviously I am guessing and speculation here as much as the next guy but I am pretty confident I am not far from what we will see happen over the next 8-10 months. No doubt many will disagree but only time wil tell.

Care to share the source of that percentage as I'd be surprised if it's correct. Also, we know what will be coming this year already and also that after this nothing much wil change until after February next year at the earliest, so there is no surprises there.

With regards to PVP/Combat, I honestly think too many have incorrect expectations of what will come now or later and how what will be coming is implemented. And to a large degree that is due to NQ not being open and honest about it (frankly, about anything substantial) as they fear those looking for what they will not bring in will leave now, while (I suspect) they need every sub to simply keep the lights on basically.
