Supermega got a reaction from Microwave in Let's talk DU quits
I literally wrote a detailed forum post over a year ago saying the exact same thing. So, I completely agree with this point, I wish someone a novaquark would at least take the time to read it, and read the comments suggestions by other people in that thread.

Yeah its just plain boring now.  I tried to login and play the other day and spent hours trying to find recipes since it's such a PAIN to search for them.  I can't believe how rudimentary the search features are in this game.  Three hours later and four marketplace trips that still are so laggy it makes the game crash every time and  I realize I have to go to another planet for three of the schematics.  So that means I now have to build up my skills again.   Nope.  I don't want to spend another hour or two clicking those damn skills buttons and trying to drag them into order with the most un-user-friendly ordering feature I have ever seen.

So that's like four hours of game play and nothing, whatsoever, fun about any of it.   I can't even bring myself to spend 30 minutes logging in and crashing several times just to claim my daily money.  This game might sound good on paper, but its just not fun at all for me anymore.  Most of my org has quit playing too. Everyone playing different games now.   I dont know if NQ can fix it, so idk if I'll play again.  Have to wait and see if any of their new features add a little more fun, or if its just more sitting inside a menu and clicking stuff or not.

Yes, it is. Especially after last update. Am I supposed to dig-dig-dig all the time? Now, after last update I have nothing to do, but dig. To be able to produce now I have to buy a recipe. This is total bullshit! There are plethora of games, where I should dig a shit out of a planet so a game starts to be interesting after a MONTHS of real gameplay. I do not want another such game. I have it enough in EVE. I suppose to stop playing DU, if things not change. This is sad. I had a hope, that DU will be different...

Supermega reacted to blazemonger in Next economical surprise from NQ? Your bets.
IMO NQ does not actually know or understand why the economy is not starting/working. I expect the reasons are exactly where NQ dares not go or act which is the big orgs who have all but excluded themselves from the game as a while and just live inside their own bubble, tending to their own exclusively.

With their actions being geared towards solo or small group players using markets which are not fed by the big orgs, NQ pretty much forces players to join existing big orgs as even trying to form a new big org wil not yield much results due to the massive wealth and advantage already built by existing orgs through the by now well known methods which are no longer in place while the yields of those were allowed to stay.

There really is only one effective option to resolve this and NQ brought this unto themselves by not using it two days after the pre-beta wipe when they found out about several ways these orgs were taking advantage and having access to warp, AGG and territory scanner used to find and sell T4/5 ore to bots to amass massive wealth and stockpiling assets using that wealth within days from the wipe.

Another reason we will never see those is because they first told us we could build them, then they showed they could be build and we should all build our dreams!!! And then came the restrictions for: Performance, Pvp, PvP, statics have no goal, pvp, why would anyone build statics so more restrictions on dynamic, flying is to easy more restrictions, pvp, industry is cheap this hurts pvp,, etcetera.
so after killing of most ideas and hopes for small organizations to push everyone in some large organization there is only a need of a few people with ideas and telling a few individuals about what is going to change or what is bugged and can be exploited does not help. DU was promised as build in freedom everything you want, combination of minecraft and eve, pure freedom... But in the end apparently it can only live with enough PVP people and thus is alot restricted to push in that direction.

Once there was a posibility to actually build a +8km dynamic space city with merchant zones and industry, now it lives on in Space engineers because clang is much more forgiving then general restrictions.

And because everytime someone shouts, they never said that, here is the kickstarter page that holds all the info:

Cyberpunk is actually fun and I'm having a great time with it.

I cannot say I ever had a great time in DU. It was a lot of mining to achieve goals that once achieved became pointless.

And yet again, NQ has proven they're out of touch with how the players have been playing the game.

Setting up a factory to produce everything one desires is just the first step, for many of us, through ensuring we have a reliable supply of elements and material with which to build our ships. The market is unreliable or too time consuming. Why would we spend hours traveling to different markets to pick up various ship building parts when we can just mine ore from our tiles and make what we need?

Given your previous post history I'm more than happy to wait on a response with some actual meat on the bone rather than wild speculation as to my technical ability.

Whether my informtion is accurate in terms of funds raised does not change the fact that funds were raised, at which point given the knowledge you imply you have, you'd likely agree, regardless of local regulation that the overarching basis for any commercial transaction is delivery on stated promises, based on - wait for it - the advertisement of the product.

As stated, it's a PERF query - I'm looking at instructions to the GPU, in what order, and as it's PERF it would need to be based on thier equipment as I'm not running PERF  - if you're not techniclly minded, thats okay, but rig wars doesn't really come into it, so if you'd kindly remove your appendge from off the table and reseat it, that would be superb.

You don't employ me in any capacity and you're not my publisher, so your assertion of techical ability really, honestly doesn't matter. In the slightest. To anyone.

If you would like to have a discussion, I've provided a link to some guidance on PERF for you - I've linked to Epic Games, as they have the most accessible documention on performance profiling. It's really friendly and should give you the insight you'd need if you wanted to hold a conversation based on technical ability.  There are others, but this is really good 101.

    https://docs.unrealengine.com/en-US/TestingAndOptimization/PerformanceAndProfiling/GPU/index.html

I'd grab a glass of milk and a cookie as it's a long read and you might get peckish.

This to be honest is a suggestion only for your personal development, i've seen your previous comments on here and I don't really value your opinions. The fact that a 2080 only manages 50-60 frames , given your setup should have been your first indicator that there's a profiling issue, given its benchmark in other voxel based applications.

That's hardly fair. Industry was one of the few enjoyable aspects of this game. So it made sense for players to concentrate on that while waiting for the game to get a more complete loop and content. This is also why the player backlash to 0.23 has been so massive when NQ in their infinite wisdom decided to nuke industry from orbit, before they had added any alternative and enjoyable activities to the game.

A monthly subscription for DU before 0.23 was already a hard sell, and after it is more or less impossible to justify.

So near the end of my 3 month sub, played for a solid 2 months of it then just occasionally the last couple of weeks up until the patch. I will not be renewing (decided this pre-patch already)

This patch has honestly terrified me, I can see what NQ is trying to do - but IMO its a big gamble that may backfire. I'll use myself as an example:

I've been playing the game to have fun (like most players I hope!), amass some wealth, mine and had the most fun hooking up factories to produce everything of all sizes up to T3.  After producing almost everything, (and honestly have more fun knitting the factory together than anything else) and being happy to have amassed ~32m (which is not much relative to some players and a lot to others) I thought after this patch I'd be able to have some fun still buying a few schematics and setting up a few specialized assembly lines for a few of the T2-3 things. I should add I'm out on Feli and kinda like it here, along with probably dozen other players or so...

Wow, the price to get started is not only steep, they are astronomical - this game would be a complete grind fest for me to continue moving forward. I do not want to make and sell 300 billion xs & s parts to eventually afford enough to buy an M schematic and M related components. I'm afraid to buy any higher priced schematic because the game is still in flux and i have a feeling they may have to adjust pricing a few times, or everyone else has the same idea and will build the same thing.  Additionally, i'll likely have to move back to the soul crushing FPS Destroying markets on Alioth... around people... this is really against the grain with my own playstyle.

Looks like solving complex factory wirings will be going away for me as well. I had the most fun making a do-everything factory - now I'm forced to make a simple widget factory in order to grind out enough widgets and dollars to maybe one day afford another widget factory to do this all over again. ?

I sure hope this game works out in the long run, I've had a blast playing it so far - Good luck NQ! I'll check back in a year and see where it's at

That's what really annoys me - whenever people defend it as a change that was needed for the long term health of the game....

It's nonsense. In the long term everyone who ever wanted to do industry will have ground enough to have all the schematics. All that was added was the time sink to get them. You can still do the same thing you could before. Now you just have to grind a lot first - but a year from now we'll be back to where we started. Same mega factories. Just a whole lot of time wasted to get them running again.

This patch did nothing but add way more tedious grinding to a game that was already mostly tedious grinding. This should have been obvious to the devs. It was obvious to the players who left this feedback - https://dualuniverse.featureupvote.com/suggestions/122819/recipes-as-items-industry-balancing  and yet it got pushed out anyway....

imho the problem with industry isn't solved by schematics, it's just pushed back.

The problem was the "zero cost" of producing: once you have your machines (refiners, smelters, ..., assembly lines) you don't need power , fuel or whatever to use them. You have no upkeep at all. You just need to input ores.

That's why even a solo player could gradually build and use a huge industry: what he already has cost nothing to run.

That's why ores were more valuable than their contribution in final products: because it cost nothing to transform them once you have the industry so for instance 10L of hematite are worth more their ratio in <whatever is made with 10L of hematite> because they are less 'specialized'.

Schematics don't solve that. It's a band-aid, a bad one. Their timing is bad. The implementation is sloppy and it adds unneeded complexity (talents and tiers of machines). In a few weeks the situation will be the same but a lot of players will be gone.

Running costs (power, fuel, fees, whatever) was what was needed. And they said it's planned so why not wait till then ?

Why exactly the minority of people that runs the market should provide low-cost products? The lack of competitors doesn't make price higher? And usually people are drive by profit, not by the purpose of providing services/goos for a reasonable or low price.

Furthermore he doesn't actually answer why creative people should be find more fun on buying things from market rather than creating things by themself.

I was one of those: I do not care about profit or to save time by purchasing things on the market. I was very satisfied to be able to create things by myself. That what your marketing sold me when I subscribed and what I was looking for.

If you want us to collaborate...why don't you simply add some community goal like building something or defend from a pve threat? Why are you obsessed by reaching "end-game" things? Why so obsessed by market and profit? How do you know which end game each player set for himself? Wasn't you that say that every player had to set his own goal?

You removed this mechanism, now I have no purpose to continue playing this game. I'm non interested in grinding money for buying things on market. That is an experience that I already have in real life, no need to play a game for that.

JC telling us that mining and industry are too easy.

After I've spent the bulk of my time in the game doing nothing but mining and working on industry. Even when I was "pvp"ing  - I was mining on my alt to make progress in our industry. 6 hours a day, 7 days a week, since launch - to build a factory. JC who I am absolutely convinced has never mined a node in his life told me that what I did was "too easy". That. That was insulting.

But I should be concerned about how my feedback will make him feel? You know what - I don't care. I really don't.

He doesn't get to not mine, not build an industry and then cast judgment about something he has never done being "too easy".

You are so worried about negative opinions hurting the game that you seem to be entirely unconcerned if the negative opinions are in fact valid.

No, it is the price of NQ's tendency to not having sensible priorities when adding features, and instead just add whatever takes the least amount of work first. If they had first added some sensible alternatives to making income, this would have all gone over much better with players. There is an almost universal hate for mining in this game, and NQ just sky rocketed the amount of mining needed to get anywhere in this game, and at the same time lobotomized the one thing most players enjoyed doing (industry). So there is no wonder people are frustrated.
