It's NOT the constant bugs. This is a beta. They're a small studio running on fumes. It's no surprise having to fill in a dozen bug reports after every release: https://imgur.com/a/y4sPbpE
It's NOT the constant nerfs - losing our factories, HTML/SVGs, megas/scans, terraforming, LUA randomly deprecated, ship designs ganked by new element mechanics... also to be expected in a beta (even if it is soul-destroying.)
It's NOT having all my suggestions ignored - even the most basic QoL improvements which 50 other people also asked for since day 1, and still today: https://www.reddit.com/r/DualUniverse/comments/pu9eoc/watch_my_spirit_broken_in_real_time/

Sorry Xerrass. NQ just don't listen.
It's NOT the lack of vision or inspiration. JC's 'emergent gameplay' pitch was awesome bait. Now we're all being shoe-horned into a vanilla same-as-every-other-game meta, but maybe that's the price of doing business. If it means more players, also fine.
It's NOT the community. The community were awesome - although many good people have also left.
No, I loved this game - despite everything. Eyes wide open.
    The issue is trust.
As a beta, the only point of investing time is if you trust the studio to respect your effort.
NQ have crossed from flaky to deceitful: showering us with platitudes while stealth-patching and quietly reversing stated plans.
If we can't trust them to respect our efforts, and we can't trust anything they say - any declaration now is potentially the opposite of what will happen. Every back-flip is attributed to some last-minute complaint from someone, but it's never clear who, or how many, or what the forum was to be heard, and how long discussion was open-then-closed-then-opened-again.
And because of the ham-fisted way they've handled letting players who quit long ago just leave their garbage laying around forever, tying up resources without paying a sub, there are absolutely no consequences to just walking away - which probably the dumbest design decision in the history of a game.
TL/DR: NQ caught lying. Again. No pre-nup.

Its NC Soft all over. I regret the money I invested in an early stage as what we will get is not even getting close to what was told. This is about the same as buying something online for a good deal of money and getting sent a brick. Like most people here i have sent loads of positive posts or ideas in the past, but well i doubt any idea from the community was ever actually added and is still in the game. There was a time JC talked about millions of players and it actually made sense,  now with the cost reducing development plan and it looks like indeed the players are the only ones getting the negatives of the cost reductions, the whole kickstarter money asking just feels like a big scam.

I see you are quite adept at ignoring any opinion that isn't yours, regardless of how it's displayed. Good to know.

But okay, let's Tax PvE content and hamstring the economy even further by reducing the amount you can earn through mining.

So how about we go further and make it fair. Let's Tax PvP.

Let's levy a flat tax each time you initiate PvP, of course this should be based on the core size you are attacking.

How about a tax when you remove an element on a cored ship, and of course if you decide to re-core it, you should be taxed on the value of the ship based on the current market price of the components used to build it. You would of course also need to pay a tax valued on the contents of the ships containers as well.

Of course we also need a weapon tax, scaled per weapon, and tier of weapon.

I mean, you could always place some miners to supplement income, or just find ships to kill to make your loss in profit, or risk getting ganked yourself to run the missions or asteroids.

I mean, it only makes sense.

This whole tax thing maybe be the end for me. I pay a subscription to play. Now they want me to work in game to keep what I have. I do that in IRL. I play to have fun. Not to do more work.

Total agree. A rough calculation tells me : the game is NOT fun anymore. So why should I pay for it ? These game mechanics would be ok (and expected) for a free to play game. But here I am paying real money. And what do I get ? I was used to bring home 100 to 200 kilo liters of ore PER DAY. What NQ gives me now is a fraction of that. They hinder my progress. They slow me down. This is the opposite of fun. Who is doing game design at NQ ? You want players in your game ? Then motivate them. I can not see motivation here. Its the 0.23 desaster happening again.

    Some detailed problems :
    - demeter will cut me off T3/T4/T5 supply. I would be forced to do PvP asteroid mining to have access.
    - Scans are listing T2 but it is by far to rare. I have detailed maps on the old ore distribution around my base. Demeter is practically removing T2 from the surface. It is quite rare in only a few spots.
    - Ore yield is simply off by a factor of 10 AT LEAST. who on earth designed that ? Any stupid guy doing surface mining is faster by several mangitudes ...

Wouldn't it make more sense to play StarCitizen doer Eve then? There the focus is more on PvP and the ships themselves are already finished, you just have to equip them depending on the situation and that's it.

It is not that we normal players would disturb you PVP guys. It is, that you PVP guys disturb us any time we venture out to harvest T3 to T5 ore. Our vessels are unarmed, Mr. Somali Pirate. Yet, you dare to disturb us, to attack us, to destroy our unarmed ships and kill us.

YOU PVP guys are the disturbance. Your way of thinking and acrting is the problem. As I say, a real Somali Piratte by nature. Legion and other PVP orgs are just nothign better than ingame Somali Pirates. Thrash of the society, or here the digital society. I am just speaking out loudly what most normal humans think. We have many discussions about Legion and other PVP groups. here is just no "love" for you and your sort. Somali pirates are the bottom of the society.

Here is the problem as we see with Knight_Sevy's latest posting: PVP guys always think, each and every game is made just for them. Destruction and weird behavior everywhere. Even the headline of this thread shows, how much PVP guys consider this game as be be made just for them: "Legion has Won DU".

But that is not so. It is not that 80% of all DU players are PVP players. It is, indeed, that the real amount is 20%.  But these 20% want to claim all 100% of the T3 to T5 resources for themselves.
I am so tired of their Somali Pirate mentality.

PVP has nothing to do with any "right to take things away from others". I stand by my proposal: Only on armed ships it can be fired upon. If a ship is armed, that means the owner or crew wants to participate in PVP. I understand, that our strong, rough PVP "heros" are too afraid to attack armed ships only as that could mean a strong response and even loss of the own ship. But is that not what PVP is about? Destruction and loss? So, let 'em kill each other so they have their weird fun. But also, fill the Unsafe Zone with other dangerous challenges so it is not just weird PVP alone that can endanger ship and life.

Dual universe is first and foremost a sandbox game with content that players can determine themselves. To this end, more and more content is now being specified or restricted by NQ.
In the game itself, I recognise many different types of players who cannot always be pigeonholed, as there are many shades of grey and not just simple black and white effects.
What I can say from the surveys I have done so far in Discord is that the number of players in the pigeonholes varies. So my assessment:
80% of the players are PvE interested players who just want to build and have fun in the game, no matter if solo or in a community, no matter if it's industrial plants, voxelmancy, simple or complicated constructions, ships,.....in this 80% there are also about 25% players who support an ordered PvP, that is defined PvP areas that you can enter even if you "feel like it" yourself and not if you are forced to participate. (Comparable to World of Warcraft = battlegrounds and arenas).

20% are PvP players who like to fight, it doesn't seem to matter if it's good versus evil, pirates versus everyone else or other fairy tales. These are of course also divided into different categories, (with PvP zones or those who would prefer to dissolve all safe zones in order to turn DualUniverse into a gigantic theatre of war).

At the moment, NQ is focusing on putting a lot of PvP content into the game, which may be a thorn in the side for some players, but is certainly important for a small part of the player community, as we want to serve every pigeonhole and make everyone happy. So NQ will also deal with more PvE content later on - everything at the same time will not work.
What we players can do is show NQ together what content in Dual Universe is wanted by how many players and is reflected accordingly in the game. Apparently a PvE to PvP ratio of 80 to 20 of players doesn't seem to be in line with a player world of 20%Safezone to 80%PvPzone. So the 80% of PvE players here should ask NQ to balance the ratio of PvE to PvP content.

We should understand one thing as a community of players, no matter what interest we pursue in the game: Calling each other names doesn't help any of us, because new players are put off by a toxic community.
As far as behaviour and actions in the game are concerned, especially aggressive players should know that toxic behaviour will lead to players leaving the game and soon there will be no game anymore, because the small group of toxic players will not be enough to keep this game alive financially.
PvP can and should certainly take place, but at the moment it makes no sense to shoot and rob everything and everyone who wants to help build the game. This only frustrates players and they leave the game, so in the end everyone has lost.
Therefore, I have a request. Play together, stay friendly and above all human. I think we all want DualUniverse to be successful, and we players play a big part in that.

But apparently the schematics were needed more then a few thousand alpha players who really stopped playing in the week following the introduction. And all is well with a good reason or explanation, but none is given.

Some stunning arrogance in this thread.

Unless the game gets some sensible balance of things to do for all parties it will not last. No reason for it to do so.

Forcing people to PvP will not happen. EVE tried this for years and it never happened. People will PvP when they want, where they want and how they want. If they can't do that they will play something else. The rule has always been "don't fly what you can't afford to lose" - so until PvE players feel they are in that position to their satisfaction none of them will PvP even for rare rewards. As PvE players are generally more risk averse with respect to combat the "not afford to lose" amount will likely be significantly higher than PvP players.

The PvP vs PvE thing is as it has always been and is unlikely to change. The one thing I have never understood is why PvP players are just not content with fighting each other and leaving those who don't give a crap alone.

What you describe here is capitalism, not socialism. what that American told you is incorrect, stop listening to Americans, and educate yourself on the topic by doing your own research, you can literally google this. but I'll try and put it as simply as I can.

CAPITALISM: is when a "capitalist" owns and controls the resources and means of production, an can decide what to do with those resources.

So in an org, the Legate/ Capitalist takes ownership of the "Members/ Workers" resources, and they alone have the power to decide what to do with those resources.

SOCIALISM: is when the "workers" own and control the resources and means of production. an can decide what to do with those resources.

if Orgs where socialist, there would be NO "Legate/ Capitalist" , because "Members/ Workers" would own and control the resources and means of production, and they would collectively decide what to do with those resources.

That's the basics... you can research and learn more on your on. which I highly recommend.

    You guys don't get it...
For ppl like the OP, the word socialism is not what a definition says.
It is an insult. It is 100% synonymous of the enemy, of hell, of everything that ppl should not be.

A certain group of countries created this hate against this word to justify wars and commercial deals.
Now that the Cold War is over, a certain group of political activists use that word to fulfill their agenda.

Their agenda is simple, it is to discriminate everything associated with the word. To make any idea related to the word "undebatable" because it is evil. And everyone that does not agree that the word is evil is also evil.
In summary, the end of constructive debate...

    But back to this topic.
The op lives in this environment where "socialism" is evil.
And tried to associate some DU mechanic with "evil" to make it "undebatable"
I don't believe the OP knows what "socialism" is in any definition, and I don't think the OP actually thinks his complaint is about socialism.

He just used the word to have an "impact" tittle and some "support" from similar players.
