  1. @vertex is right. It will in the end depend on your graphics card and capabilities. There is no reason to do so if your system can't. So I hope it can!
  2. I have to agree with the others on this one. There should be a deceleration of war, but in no way at all would I ever agree with a simple timer system. I think it’s similar to what @KlatuSatori said. This is not a system that compliments the gameplay of DU. It’s actually one that goes against the idea of quick paced strategies and complex plans that are set in real time. It makes everything feel... blocky in format ironically. This just doesn’t feel like NQ is trying to aim for. Think of it this way in Civilization games. A surprise attack is a good tactic. Even at this pace of game, declaring war on someone instantly and attacking is possible. Doing this system similar to EVE does not play well to how we want to attack. Things need to feel like you are really trying to examine things. You need to make sure that this enemy doesn’t do this or that to outwit you in defense. This feeling is gone with a timer system. In short, it’s the pace of the game that matters. A timer system doesn’t compliment DU. It just makes things feel more disconnected.
  3. Already been discussed again and again and again. I recommend reading that and moving the conversation over to there, as it is both explored and is in the proper section of the forums.
  4. Welcome to the forums @Spyborg! First off, I would like to show you to the first section of the forum that you should always visit; that would be this topic. Most of it is just general stuff you need to know. Going through it will give you some knowledge that people should honestly know. Now then, I would also like to say congrats on your survival in EVE! Things aren't that much different here though. I hope to see you work hard in the game, as the possibilities for one individual are usually pretty small. With most feats having the probable likelihood of being done in a group, I can say for sure that talented individuals are needed. So what I recommend for someone like you who wants to become a part of an organization that has a similar mindset is to join organizations that might have a similar mindset. Leave if it doesn't. You don't know what you are going to come across until you find them! That said, I do find your experience to give you an advantage. Just a quick question; how much time have you spent playing EVE(AKA, when did you first play it)? Once again, welcome to Dual Universe!
  5. I agree with ATMLVE. There is actually one thing that I also theorized. Maybe him remote controlling gives it a defined user to follow? Perhaps it is just one way to lock on. Just a theory and I could be wrong, but the possibility to use scripts and elements seems to be pretty endless. STATEMENT: None of anything I say here is based on the gameplay of the Dual Universe, but instead on the public media content posted by NQ themselves.
  6. First off, welcome to the forums @Eternal. Second off, wow. So let me try to break my reply down here. Well there are sections on the forum that I hope you read. Let me link one of them. link So the above topic is the FAQ that holds all current information Dual Universe, but that will actually soon change with the pre-alpha here for all Gold Backers and above in the upcoming days. So let's look forward to that! Now then, for the thing to discuss in the room, economics! I absolutely love the ideas, but I can tell you that you have already taken a large interest in it yourself. I assume you have looked at real life examples, while I've more or less applied everything to practical in-game examples. Let me get started off here on concepts that you will want to take an interest in. To begin, there is no real way to take an ownership stake in an organization as of yet and I'm not sure if there will be any specific way. There will be the RDMS(Rights & Duties Management System), which allows you to assign very in-depth tags that may allow for some aspects of such but there is currently no working example of that. I don't see this system being put to use with investments, stakes or bonds in an organization though, so I have to imagine this would be an internal management issue handled by each organization independently. With this in mind though, there are of course ways to cheat the system and prevent shares, bonds and such from being handled properly. This would require very careful management. It's an amazing proposition and I'll get to working on a conceptual system to make it work right away! As for the rest, I would rather like to discuss that in DMs, as I'm sure everything I'm saying can be assumed, I just don't want to make assumptions about stocks, bonds, management, oversight, profit and such in public grounds. Each person has their own way of thinking about it and my own statements rather reflect exactly how I think things will go. Not a good way to keep your strategies secret after all! Alright, onto the next part. Your idea of investing in organizations is very, very, very good. Many people theorize by conquest, peace, trade and so on but with investors, the world moves. Like all the statements I expressed above, there are going to be some challenges and certainly some logistics problems to work though. This though I want to discuss with you in detail as well. I absolutely love economics of trade, investment and so forth! This is a very good idea as I will say once again and I applaud you to keep working on it! Finally, I hope to see you in this upcoming Pre-Alpha on Saturday(30th)! That also leads me to one more point. I'm Alpha Team Vanguard(ATV) and have actually played the pre-alpha last Saturday(23rd). I'm under NDA so I can not disclose any information or opinions about it though! My point being though, if you want some advice about your ideas, I bet there are a couple ATV folk like myself who would love to listen to your ideas and offer suggestions. Ever need something, go ahead and ask them! Once again, welcome to Dual Universe! STATEMENT: My opinions, descriptions and so forth what is stated above are not affected by the Pre-Alpha in any sense but rather based upon public knowledge by NQ.
  7. English: Native Speaker While I do understand your concern of privacy, there is already a way to get all of the info I need. You can't and shouldn't really do anything about it either, because it is a backbone on which organizations will thrive and come up with solutions not normally available. Let me show an example. By going to https://community.dualthegame.com/accounts/profile/ you can see your profile. Going to https://community.dualthegame.com/accounts/profile/ and adding huschhusch will show your profile. You can do the same to find mine.
  8. You are actually very wrong sir(I assume sir). This is what you are referencing, but in actuality, it is using a LUA script to follow him. He specifically says that it is LUA based instead of him using the remote flight unit to control it. However, while you might state that his using the flight controller to control it towards him, it is more likely he is using it to monitor the status of the barge like unit. STATEMENT: None of anything I say here is based on the gameplay of the Dual Universe, but instead on the public media content posted by NQ themselves.
  9. It's still going.... ..... ......................... ........................................................ Nope. No processing of this situation can be done.
  10. Can't believe I missed this. Welcome tothe forums and you seem to know what you are doing. That's pretty dang obvious. Now as for this, I think this highlights a good system. You take money both ways, and the payout for each client is the same. What a wonderful way to to business. Also makes high value payouts for a target very hard to avoid. I'll be sure to keep that in mind if I ever talk to you again.
  11. There is no specific limitation that is put on LUA scripting, however the limitations of the language itself while embedded in the game might be what you should look at. They have shown in the dev video though a ship following a player due to a LUA script running on the ship. However, while I do note this, I will also note that automated weapons systems on dynamic constructs such as ships is not possible. There are some more components to the LUA scripting system that we simply do not know, and I imagine the possibilities will be quite endless.
  12. I was just going to suggest thenewboston. Alternatively, as most people hate to have referenced to them, but all people need to read, here are the docs for the programming language you are trying to learn. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/csharp/ Keep in mind, to develop in C# for unity, you should probably be looking at Unity tutorials, which I have here. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZ1b66Z1KFKik2g8D4wrmYj4yein4rCk8 Additionally, you could consider adding the Unity documentation to your list of things to do. https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/index.html Now, with all that, you are probably going to be left spinning around in a circle without any knowledge of where to start, because I don't blame you. I had the same thought when learning this sorts of stuff. So, I would recommend the following. Start off with a skill that you can use almost anywhere. C# via thenewboston videos and the microsoft documentation is a great place. It gives you skills that you can use both for unity and for other use cases, such as applications. After you think you have enough experience in C#, try Unity. If you find you do not, go back to step one. Rinse and repeat until you do have enough experience. Take a look at both the Unity video tutorials and documentation, and try to design a simple, easy to understand game. After all that, you might be getting somewhere. Given years of experience, hard work, and time invested, you can finally design something that resembles a game!
  13. Welcome to the forums Firesped! First off, I'd like to give you the FAQ that gives you the most information about Dual Universe currently. link Secondly, I'd like to say congrats on backing Dual Universe before the crowdfunding ended! I know a lot of people were rushing to do it, so it's great that you were able to do such! Also, might I ask what of the possibilities you mentioned you are curious about? Once again though, welcome to the Dual Universe!
  14. Hey Stoat! For a quick round of my usual introduction. link Read that ^ Yeah. I think you're on the right track(my personal completely 100% biased opinion). Welcome to the forums!
  15. Welcome to the forums Partum! Well first off I would like to say that your goal is a good one, although I have some things to say about it later. First off, here is the FAQ that has all the details you would ever need to know about DU, including interviews, articles, and so on. link As well, I want to applaud you for your high hopes, but also I want to direct you towards some problems. First off, it's already being done by large organizations. This concept isn't new and while it is fun to mess with, it is also a pain to pull off. See, some of the logistical problems include delivery of resources, storage of resources, infrastructure. and so much more. Each of these components is even a simplification! I love the concept but I am curious to see how you would execute it. Could you perhaps give some more details? By the way, once again, welcome to Dual Universe!
  16. There is no mention of a refund mentioned in their TOS on the community website so your guess is as good as mine. https://community.dualthegame.com/terms However, I would due well to ask why you are asking?
  17. Well, the topic above mentions it, but the DUExplorers interview covered it. Find it here. Just look under Directional Shielding.
  18. I guess in the over 3000 posts you've made, which is approaching 4000, you might have forgotten some things. So yes. I am a hawk.
  19. Neat! Will review as soon as neutron star engulfs Earth.
  20. Welcome to the forums. I do agree keeping yourself skeptical is a good practice even if I don't share it. If you want to take a look at the game, I recommend you look at the dev diaries and also read the dev blogs. Once again, welcome!
  21. First off, I will mention that this topic has been discussed before. Alternative link: https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/1593-actual-physical-targeting-instead-of-locking/ Now then, I'm going to get into some reasons why I think that your article does not touch on points correctly. So the first post where Twerk goes into things is the generally agreed consensus on how things are going to work by the community. Listen to what he says, because while he doesn't say it with your feeling in mind, he says it how it is. With that in mind, I'm going to give you the technical limitations of why there can not be free flowing movement in targeting and why there will not be precision shooting. The first problem is technical limitations of the actual single shard cluster. As Novaquark has described it as follows. Since you are in a single shard cluster, it is not technically hosted on a single server. Along with the regions being divided up into sections that are prioritized via player density and are granted processing power on the basis of that, there is also the communication between regions and entire portions of the cluster. This implies that to shoot with a sniper for example, you would have to calculate the bullet passing through all of those regions, and possibly through portions of the cluster itself. Now if you understand that, you might ask why we can't still have some basic form of free flowing combat. The answer is this. Battles. When battles happen, there is a whole bunch of stuff going on. The server is working hard dividing regions up by player density and processing power required and it is doing that all in real time. However, add bullets, and you mess the whole thing up with the calculations of the projectiles, moving a high speed projectile data across the cluster, and adding elements of randomness, when that projectile hits something along with the calculations resulting from that. If that itself is not a nightmare, than I don't know what is. So in short, you haven't looked up how the single shard cluster functions and taken into account how the game is affected by that. I would recommend doing so.
  22. Welcome to the forums @servollo! It's great to see you starting an organization and taking an interest. First off, I would like to redirect you to this. It contains most information Dual Universe that you need to know about. This is something that is a must read. Now then, congrats on your pledge and alpha access! The ideas that you mention, like HTML/CSS widgets are indeed interesting. It allows for a lot of customization with your construct and can make your personal fighter/ship/vehicle, or whatever truly your own. This is a good bit of knowledge to take into the game and can reveal a whole bunch of areas where you are able to take advantage of this. As well, with your idea of observing the Universe, you can probably find some people with similar goals and such. I recommend you take a look and research this. Once again, welcome to Dual Universe!
  23. Welcome @Aesir to the forums! First off, you've probably seen the FAQ, but just incase. Secondly, I'd like to say that you have the a lot of good points on your resume for this game. Since you covered a lot of what you do, I'd like to say that you have very good ambitions and are set up pretty well to learn about this game. Since you are in pre-alpha and have just joined the forums, I would like to know what you are interested in doing? Are you simply going to do anything that you manage to come across as interesting, or do you have a specific goal in mind? These are just a couple questions that I like to ask, along with the question of the knowledge that you have gathered about this game. Since you have a craving for such knowledge, I'll redirect you to a list of interviews that have occurred in the past. https://dualuniverse.gamepedia.com/Archive I recommend you watch a couple and read the transcripts if they are available. I'm also going to guess that you have read the dev blogs and watched the dev diaries, in which case I would also direct you to search for written interviews that contain valuable information. Even if an interview is months old, it still has some use. That is all I have to offer. Once again, welcome to Dual Universe!
