    The only thing I found to transfer power is Electrical Pipes. But I don't know where is the news about it.
     
    About data transfer, I think we have seen in multiple video that it is wireless between elements. I don't know if there is more.

    After doing a search I wasn't able to find many discussions on shields other than 'twerks' long thought out post in regards to shield mathematics.
     
    Something I wanted to suggest is a mechanic that was used in Star Trek Online.
     
    Now I didn't care much for that game I thought it sucked really bad.
     
    But one thing I thought they did really well was the way your shields took damage based on which part of the shield was taking damage, allowing you to reduce power from aft to front or rotate your ship.
     
    This allowed for some really interesting combat and tactics.
     
    Naturally, on larger ships, you are going to need someone dedicated to looking after shields.

    I would prefer to not have any teleportation, except for the very limited purposes Nyzalter mentioned.  I do think there should be elevators and other transportation systems for large areas, but I would like them to be the kind where we build a platform that follows some kind of track or path.  That would be much more interesting to build and we would still have the experience of moving from one place to another.
     
    I have been in several games where teleportation was introduced as a later feature, which makes it easier to compare the effect it has, and to me it has always diminished my enjoyment of that game.  Places which previously seemed very real, which gave me the sensation of actually moving through them, began to feel like little more than menu entries.   It was click and do this, click and do that, which was much quicker, but not nearly as much fun.
     
    For me, the kind of experiences I have while playing a game are my primary concern.  If I am in a huge base, I want it to feel huge.  I want it to take a long time to get through it.  If it is a busy place, I want to see the crowds, not go through deserted corridors because everyone else is teleporting.  Of course, not everyone wants the same thing from a game, but those are my preferences.

    @Joakim The alpha is here to test all the mechanics. The day of the release, most of the new players will not be prepared to voxel building.
    So we have to ensure that this system is easy enough to understand without any preparation. And if it doesn't, to report our experience and ideas in order to improve it.

    Indeed, my answer was not accurate. I have read this before :
     
    And so, NQ don't want to have any teleporter the way it was describe in the 1st post.
    (Edit : In fact I just found this video where I heard JC say "No teleport")

    Hi everyone, 
     
    On one hand, it's true that some words may have been indeed confusing in the press release from last week. 
    On the other hand, seeing some community/press websites not just stating the facts but starting to make assumptions without attempting to contact the studio (to check or ask for clarification) causes unnecessary troubles. It doesn't seem to be of any concern for the said websites but this is how the world works nowadays and we have to deal with it.
     
    Update 14/08/2017 6.30 pm (Paris hour):
    A JeuxOnline representative just contacted us to have some clarification about the unclear statement in the Press Release so the confusion should be cleared up soon.
     
    So to be clear:
    We still plan to give to Gold Founder backers (and above) and the ATV group access to our most recent stable version of the game (which will be - of course - still work in progress and far from being feature complete) at the end of September 2017. 
     
    We apologize for the confusion that this Press Release may have generated among the community.
     
    P.S: the delivery date on the Kickstarter page has never changed (and can't be changed once a Kickstarter campaign is finished). December 2018 has always referred to the Official Release and the physical reward delivery. It has never referred to the Alpha release.

    I had feared this has been discussed already, thanks for pointing it out! I do agree with the stargates concept, but I still find that teleportation units would be practical inside a construct.
     
     
    Fast travelling stations on large bases or space stations is what I was thinking about when I wrote about the units inside a base etc. Thanks for your comment ostris.
     
     
    Thanks for pointing this out. I did not explore the immersive aspect, and I do agree with you that's it would be more immersive the way you said it.

    Here is a basic layout idea for the Expo, based on 3 hexes. This design allows for the majority of the Expo grounds to be open, allowing ease of access for larger ships for both exhibition and parking.

    It is relatively sure just some kind of misconception because earlier in a press release, NQ stated 

    "This news comes as the company is preparing to launch their Alpha version; currently expected by the end of Q4 2017."

    In a different topic I read, @RightBigToe mentioned they likely refered to the fiscal quartal Q4, which ends in september. The alpha being pushed back to december would make that just the interpretation of NQ's statement by JeuxOnLine.

    NQ really emphasizes the sandbox aspect and mentions again and again that everything is supposed to be editable. If you ask me, it would be really strange if they stopped at trees. I'd say it's more than likely trees can at least be removed as well as with practically everything, and in that case they should theoretically also land in your inventory one way or another, whether it's wood or biomass. So speaking from a common sense, they should be editable. Although nobody except NQ can guarantee you that.

    For them to be editable, they would then also need to be made of voxels. Since DU uses dual contouring that is well possible, but that also means that if you remove a tree chunk, you will only remove that chunk and the rest of the tree will float above, similar to Minecraft, since the servers don't check if voxels are connected to other voxels.
    Although that should only be the case as long as NQ doesn't implement any special behaviour for trees and they actually are made of voxels.

    Until now, as we have a mature community, the need of banning people wasn't necessary. But it might change, if this becomes necessary. We really don't like to play the police, we prefer a lot to have friendly discussions about the game with the community. But if we need to do it, we will enforce the rules.

    But to hate people just because they want to play pirates in a game without knowing them, giving them intentions without talking to them, is sad and troubling.     So, I have some questions regarding trees:
    1. Are trees made out of voxels like the ground, or like elements, or something else?
    2. When a player harvest a tree, is it done like mining? Does all the tree disapear or just one chunk?
    3. If only one chunk disapear, how to reach the top of the tree? Does the top fall to the ground or stay like a mountain?
     
    These questions may look weird, but I may have some ideas depending on the answer.

    @Raptor Jesus: Thank you for having already changed the content on your Organization. The modifications are nearly ok (if you remove the sentence "Every follower is welcome to communion, to eat of the body of The Creator (pizza) and to drink of the blood of The Creator (milk)", that is clearly referring to a christian rite, there won't be any more reason to delete the Organization).
