  1. Hi Sir_Rat and welcome. You can see voxel rotation in the Dual Universe DevDiary Updates - February 2017 | Pre-Alpha Video (at 1min10s) When they speak about rotation of voxels, I'm not sure they plan to rotate less than 90 degrees. Because with a 90 degrees rotation, you can have no degradation of your shape. But at less than 90 degrees, this is not so sure, and I think far more complicated. But there may already be a way to do so, with more than 1 core unit.
  2. Indeed, my answer was not accurate. I have read this before : And so, NQ don't want to have any teleporter the way it was describe in the 1st post. (Edit : In fact I just found this video where I heard JC say "No teleport") But Nyzaltar, you also said once : So, maybe you have something else in mind.
  3. Hello Alethion and welcome. Good job with you new org. BTW : Are you cousin with some Ferengi?
  4. Hi and welcome triplehelixxx. Thx for supporting the game. Hopefully for you, the alpha is about building and there is already many builders ready to test the game. You should look for an organisation to join if you like to build with others : https://community.dualthegame.com/organizations

@Joakim The alpha is here to test all the mechanics. The day of the release, most of the new players will not be prepared to voxel building. So we have to ensure that this system is easy enough to understand without any preparation. And if it doesn't, to report our experience and ideas in order to improve it.
  6. Already discussed in BTW, NQ said "no teleporter", but if they implement a short range teleporter, I would prefer a system similar to Stargate transportation rings. By similar I mean, transportation only between nodes in range, 1 expensive transportation element on each node. So, no transportation anywhere like in Star Trek.
  7. JeuxOnLine posted today a news about the new investors (in french) : http://mmo.jeuxonline.info/actualite/53082/novaquark-leve-3-7-millions-preparer-alpha-dual-universe-fin-annee I made a translation for english people (it may not be 100% accurate) : As I know, there is no official news about an alpha delayed in december. But NQ should make this clear for the press, because a false information seem to spread. (or maybe you have something to tell us!)
  8. We saw beautiful forests. We saw ground mining. But we didn't see tree harvesting, and as we know, it should be on the alpha. So, I have some questions regarding trees: 1. Are trees made out of voxels like the ground, or like elements, or something else? 2. When a player harvest a tree, is it done like mining? Does all the tree disapear or just one chunk? 3. If only one chunk disapear, how to reach the top of the tree? Does the top fall to the ground or stay like a mountain? These questions may look weird, but I may have some ideas depending on the answer.
  9. Welcome Le_Sir, As you can see, this forum is also a good way to contact them (I assume it depends on the question).
  10. Even if I agree that this org should not be allowed, I had some fun to read the description. You probably didn't have any bad intention creating it. I would have join this org, I like the comparision with the christian church, even if I'm christian. And it would be a fun fan org about JC, as ingame the "supreme god" and "creator" would best describe himself and we owes much to him. But I think also that you should have stop before you wrote :
  11. Indeed, it doesn't work. It should be a 3D model. I was thinking that it didn't work because of my bad connection. Edit : Now there is a new one
  12. Hi Ezghoul, I didn't read very much official news about refining ressources, but you can see in this video some refining and crafting from the inventory (at 2min 0s) : Dual Universe DevDiary Updates - April 2017 | Pre-Alpha Video (Thx to Francis for the summary) We know we will have big machinery like a foundry, so you can imagine why.
  13. Hi phillyd and welcome. You should look at this thread, there is a lot of informations :
  14. Thanks. About how I found DU : A friend gave me a link. About the Discord : I'm already on it.
  15. Hi, I discovered Dual Universe 2 weeks ago. I made some posts on the forum, but I didn't present myself. Better late than never. So, I'm a french engineer in automated systems. As JC and many of you, I have dream of a game where we can modify anything we want and we can make our own story. I have seen how the Novaquark team is making this game, how they want to bring something new and how they do to achieve their goal. And I can say: They will DU it! I first discovered MMOs on a WoW private server on BC, of course I loved that. Later I have played a lot to League of Legends, Minecraft and Wildstar. But I also played some space games like Star Wolves and Eve Online. Star Wolves is a little solo game, very well done with a story and a gameplay very interesting. If you're looking for some ideas, try it maybe. Eve Online was interesting, but it is mostly PvP. So I'm a builder. I have build a lot in Minecraft and Wildstar. It's a totally different way to build, but both was very enjoyable. I think the beauty level of what we will be able to build in DU is at half-way of these 2 games. But what I'm very interested in DU is the fact that our constructs will be useful to other players all the time. I joined Objective Driveyards which goal is to provide the best constructs to the community, which is exactly mine as well. Hoping the alpha soon, cya. Elildar
  16. @Shynras : I already began, a few days ago, to sort all the ideas on a Google spreadsheet. But the idea is for people to have an easy way to find what they are looking for without asking to them to go on a spreadsheet out of the forum. @Nyzaltar : Well, at least I'm relieved to know that you have planned a better bug report system and that the forum will not be flooded by reports. About the modifications, indeed with the available system, my idea is not a good one. So, I can propose a new one (keeping in mind that we have to do with the existing). A full forum section with sub-sections per thematic is indeed a good solution. In fact that was my 1st thought. But, as I said, I already began to try to define sections name and assign topics to it. And I found that, this is not so simple. People often speaks about many subjects in one topic (just look at "Features that would please me ...", it's the name of a topic). Another problem : there is some sub-categories that you would like to put in multiple main-categories. (example : Building and PvP is very different, but there is topics about Building in PvP) One solution would be to define only some very general categories like "Forum", "Website", "Game"... but 90% will go into "Game". So, I thought about another idea : Tags. The main goal of tags is to help people to find what they are looking for in the forum. The problem with tags is that everybody use different words, so you usually don't search with the good ones. The solution I propose is to pin a thread in which would be defined a list of tags that should be used to search and post ideas. Add a little help to explain how to post a new idea, and how to search by tags. The tools are already there and it works great, it would just generate some more work for the moderation because, of course we know that most people will not use these tags when they create a new thread, so it will be to the moderators to edit the new threads and put the good tags. (moderators have the right to do that, right?) We could even do both solutions, it's just more work. Summary: Solution 1 = create sub-sections + more user friendly - hard to define sections - unclassified topics Solution 2 = use tags + easy finding + accurate finding - more work for moderation Solution 1&2 = create sub-sections and use tags + more user friendly + easy finding + accurate finding - more work for moderation No solution = nothing change - hard to research - multiple thread about the same subject Any thought?
  17. Thanks for this great part of the lore. There is so much to learn in this topic. I think I spotted an impossible or unclear information about Nanopacks and Resurrection nodes, let me explain : "Calabi-Yau Compactification: the science behind CYC has been inexplicably lost in the Arkship archives" This imply that you cannot build any more Nanopacks, they are very rare, so if you lose it… you lose it. "Quantum branching: RN teleport only the minimal set of mass to get the desired effect, which is… your naked body" You probably said this because you want that dead people lose their inventory. Understandable, but… they lost their Nanopacks too! So, how could they get them back? I think you planned to give people back their Nanopacks after their resurrection, because it would be unfair to lose them. (or maybe you planned to incorporate Nanopacks inside players body, so they are restored too) But you could also say that RN restore your non-naked body with your Nanopacks and clothes, and because the matter stored inside the Nanopacks was in an extra dimension of Calabi-Yau, it's not working the same and you lost everything that was inside. I'm not sure it would be 100% compatible with what you planned, but it's an idea. What do you think about it?
  18. Well, thanks for the links. It's a subject already discussed many times, and I didn't find it with the research. If only I could delete this useless topic! Maybe we use different words, but we was all talking about the same subject. There is no need to explain what I said. Even if we didn't get any answer from NQ, it looks like the solution people agreed is to let players clean all the mess. I'm not playing to clean someone else mess, so I disagree with that and I'm not sure it will work. But I assume only the alpha will give us the answer. Please do not continue this useless discussion. Thx again.
  19. Having a fully generated beautiful world is really cool. I play Minecraft since many years, and I like to explore and see the different landscape auto-generated. But, as we have already seen in Minecraft, when players comes in and there is no restriction, this world will soon be ugly. And serious players will just hate to see this beautiful world griefed by other players. For this reason, we see some basic rules on many Minecraft servers, like: "Flying trees are forbidden, so cut it entirely and replant it". You know we will have the exact same problem in DU. At least in Minecraft trees can grow and grass can spread. As we have seen in the pre-alpha player test video, the 1st thing everybody will test is : dig a hole in the ground and put a cube on the floor. With 100 players it will very soon be ugly, but with 10000 players, will you even recognize a planet landscape or a garbage planet? So, Novaquark, what is your plan against that mass griefing coming ?
  20. Before you get the full translation, I made a little summary: - 5min presenting JC and his dream. - 17min about the kickstarter and the importance of the community, JC explain what they did and why it worked, he is very impressed by the community involvement. - 4min presenting how will Dual Universe be in comparison to other games (Eve, Minecraft). - Then some various thing : economic model, alpha in september (building access, no PvP, no economy at start), futur of Novaquark, recruting.
  21. I think all of you missed a very important question: What will motivate people to use a bounty system? IRL, bounties had purpose. When it was fulfill, you was sure that the hunted man will never hurt you again (because dead or prison). But in DU, if someone bother you, maybe you can engage someone to kill him. But this man will respawn and come back. So, why should you pay for that? To solve this dilema, we could imagine a system of "Player Signature". A Player Signature would be an object that you obtain when you defeat someone. This object is linked to the person you killed and can be used in an element "FindAName". When someone put a Player Signature in the FindAName element of his construct, it gives him an advantage on this player (deal more damage, lock faster, receive half damage... infinite ideas possible). A Player Signature can be sold to the market. It would make the market alive. And the bounty system would just be to put a buy order on the market. If a construct containing Player Signatures is destroyed, you have a chance to loot some of them. (not all of them or we will see infinite Player Signatures one day) This system could be a central point of the game. PVP players would have a good reason to fight and non PVP players to buy it. Organizations would have to take that in consideration to plan battles. Some groups could plan to destroy a target to free their Player Signatures, or pay someone to do it. BTW: Prisons in DU is just a bad idea and will never happen, because you cannot prevent a player to play on a paid game, except for use bug or... Or, you have to find something else they can do waiting in prison.
  22. Neopolitan, thanks for the link, it's indeed a very useful one. Nyzaltar, sorting all these ideas topics is more than a one man job. I don't know what you planned for the bug report system, but if you plan to do it on the forum, you should consider that you will have the exact same problem when alpha is out. Hundreds of people posting bug reports, it will be even worst than now with ideas (no offense to devs). The principle of this game is to make tools and let the community do the work, and that's all we need to solve this problem. If you make us a sorting system, the community will be happy to sort it for you (with moderator approval). To avoid having to sort all the bug reports later, maybe you should make this system before the alpha. Here is how I see this system : 1 - Main categories and sub categories 2 - View of topics by categories 3 - Topic states 1 - Main categories and sub categories Main categories are very general and have to be defined at first. (If it help, the community could define it in a later topic) As an example, it could be something like : - Forum & Website - Community - Building - PvP ... - Unknown Sub categories are more specific categories and could be created by anyone (with moderator approval). Each sub category would belong to a main category or another sub category. Each topic could belong to multiple categories. Existing topics would go automatically in the "Unknown" category, so the community would know that this topic has to be sort somewhere. When someone create a topic, he could select existing categories or propose a new one (need moderator approval). Anyone could propose to sort or move a topic in another category (need moderator approval). 2 - View of topics by categories Of course the all point of doing this is to be able to see all the topics in each category. But we need also one a page where we can see all the categories, sorted like a tree. 3 - Topic states In order to know if there is still need to discuss about a topic, each topic would have a current state. People need to answer the topic to propose a new state (need moderator approval). It could be something like this : - Suggested : By default the topic is an idea under discussion. - Accepted (high priority) : Accepted and included in the roadmap before the official launch. - Accepted (medium priority) : Accepted and included in the roadmap after the official launch. - Accepted (low priority) : Accepted and might be included but much later. - Rejected (temporarily) : Rejected temporarily (because of some reasons, but that reasons may disappear at some point). - Rejected (definitely) : Rejected definitely (because of reasons that have no chance to disappear or because it's just not compatible with our game vision). Finally, it's only some database and webpage modifications for NQ. I'm not an expert but it should not take more than 1-2 days for an IT developer. And it will save many more time for everyone of you and us. If you accept this, I commit myself to lead a topic where the community will define the best categories' tree to sort the ideas and bug reports, and to sort all the actual idea topics (with community's help I hope).
  23. Hi, I'm just new to Dual Universe and I already see 12k+ posts about ideas... I'm usually happy to share my improvements ideas, but most of them probably have already been proposed and I would prefer to respond or like these posts more than posting and flooding the forum just to have someone else telling me "We already talked about this a hundreds times!". 12k+ posts, and the game is not even out, so what will it be in 1 year ? Don't tell me to use the research, we all use different words, in this case this is useless. Does someone had the patience to sort the ideas? Having them in categories and subcategories could save time for everyone.
